B.B. King & Stevie Ray was scheduled to perform in a concert, the managers of the concert had lined up that B.B. would open the show and Stevie Ray would then perform. Stevie Ray said " No way would B.B. open ths show, Stevie Ray said I will open for B.B. he is the legend not me." He had tremendous respect for the trail blazers of Blues.
Stevie Ray was a true student of the blues. He knows the dues that those Afro American ladies and gentlemen had to pay for the right to practice their art form. And he paid homage to there memories EVERY night!!! Mad respect!!! R.I.P. SRV!!!
It's the sound that moves the Soul and makes life worth living for. Once I got to see BB King, Clapton and Stevie all together and they made the beautiful music that you can ever hear.
On Monday, August 27, 1990, at 12:50 a.m. (CDT), Vaughan and members of Eric Clapton's touring entourage played an all-star encore jam session at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in Alpine Valley Resort in East Troy, Wisconsin. They then left for Midway International Airport in Chicago in a Bell 206B helicopter, the most common way for acts to enter and exit the venue, as there is only one road in and out, heavily used by fans.[180] The helicopter crashed into a nearby ski hill shortly after takeoff.[181] Vaughan and the four others on board-pilot Jeff Brown, agent Bobby Brooks, bodyguard Nigel Browne, and tour manager Colin Smythe-died. Stevie Ray Vaughn was only 34 years old.
This was in 1988, I was 16, and it was amazing. That third man on the stage, was Albert "The Ice Man" Collins, also known as "The Master of the Telecaster" because he played a Fender Telecaster with altered tuning and a capo.
Yeah buddy love it I recently over the last year really came to connect with this music & I think blues is not about making music as much as it is playing the feelings into sound Also when I discovered Stevie is white I was shocked
Need to kick back in your easy chair get your stereo going to that and shut your eyes and get your air guitar going. You really want. Enjoy it relax, close your eyes and yes sink into the music.
This is what we were listening to in our youth in the 50s and 60s visiting blues artists and others like the great Rosetta Tharpe had a huge impact on musicians in the UK.
I may be wrong but I think the third guitarist may have been Albert Collins, a talent in his own right. Sure looked like him and he would not be out of place at that festival.
I worked at Turtles Records and Tapes in the early 90’s and my manager loved SRV & I didn’t care for him. But my oldest sister, God rest her soul, told me as I age my taste in music would change and she couldn’t have been more right! I LOVE SRV, BB King, Bonnie Raitt, The Allman Brothers & so so many more!!! Amazing artists and musicians
You can always tell it's BB King because when he hit a note it's tone is clean . What ever he plays is note for note clean .I would kill to have the feel he had, Steve was a master at feeling .these are true masters of the guitar.
SRV also played with Albert King (New Orleans Heat favorite album); there is a clip out there of Albert King and SRV where Albert tells him he is "pretty good now" but will get even better. I had the absolute joy of sitting in a small New Orleans hangout listening to Albert King play into the early hours for us. RIP SRV.
I was in a bar in small town East Texas when him and his band came in and we partied down. The owner locked the doors at midnight and he got his guitar and played. So much fun.
You can tell the respect Stevie had for BB and Albert. He laid back and let them shine. BB has said he had to make Stevie play like he felt it. And not to worry about him.... Humble man with respect for his elders
FYI…The first time Eric Clapton heard Stevie Ray on the radio, he called the radio station to find out everything he could about SRV. True story. What an incredible compliment.
Let's get it straight. It's BB King and Albert Collins playing with him, two legends. While Stevie needs nobody, he is always respectful and in awe of those that came before him. All three are dead and should have our immense respect. If not for BB and Albert, SRV never would have had a job. That is how and why he always was so respectful to his elders in the industry.
And welcome to Grown People's World💙‼️ i get it. As a life long music lover the Blues was my last love not my first. But it is first and foremost now especially since you can watch masters at work like this two🎸💙. BB said he (BB) plays the blues in sentences but Stevie plays them in paragraphs and never runs out of things to say. I will come back to paste a link to one of BB's exquisite "The Thrill is Gone". You owe it to yourself to listen even if you don't react. It will bring you closer to your parents and grandparents when you get why they were so drawn in. Oh and your comment about the older guys holding up so well in their older years? Look how much fun, enjoyment, and just plain joy it brought them just to play🎶 It was the music that kept them young🎶💙 The other gentleman is Albert Collins another musical influence on Stevie. I am so jealous of this audience🤩. Thanks for bringing this to us today🙌✌️👏 Here is that link to BB's classic The Thrill is Gone. He will pluck your heart and soul strings for sure🌟 exquisite✨ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4fk2prKnYnI.html
Thats Albert Collins. Known as "The Master Of The Telecaster" Check out his Cold Snap CD. Songs like: "I ain't Drunk I'm just drinking" To Many Dirty Dishes" Albert is the total package
These men are the definition of blues they felt every note and shared it with us all!!!! I really thank you for playing this it is educating the younger generations of what the blues are with amazing blues musicians before it becomes a lost art. Love you reaction❤😊
Stevie Ray Vaughan to a lot of Texans was a god. When he died it it affected a lot of people for a long time. I was young but I was still listening to his music. He is a idol in Texas and his music and spirit will never die. Just ask this Texas girl. Although I do live in Arkansas now he can't take the Texas out of the girl.
Play it Loud, even now the Light Shining Brighter from the greatest artist ever.Nothing today compares! Look at how much they glow.brings everyone to the Light,Peace, warmth
"Albert Collins - If Trouble was Money" the thing about blues music was black blues musicians were respected and treasured. These men like Albert king & Collins as well as BB.King were his heroes. And two, this was young Stevie Ray before he was at the height of his career I would probably get along with your folks. lol
Hey bro, I started watching and totally forgot you was there until you hit that first pause! 😂😂😂 SRV is my shit and BB king is a downright legend! Both are legends I just wish Stevie didn’t go so soon.
Love both of these Artists. If you like this, check out John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters. I recommend “In The Mood” (featuring Bonnie Rait) and “Manish Boy”. There are so many other greats from this Genre. Please do more like this.
Polo, SRV actually had the blues. He started out on alcohol, drugs and smoking at 7. You could say that his childhood was stolen. Regardless, typical young people back in the day were going to school, doing homework, playing sports and so don't have the blues. Blues music is mostly about PAIN. SRV & BB's guitars are CRYING the blues as they tell the story of the source of pain. You could call it a cultural appropriation but not for SRV since he is the real deal. Led Zep took plenty of Delta Blues songs and turned them into gold but their lives were not "HARD"... The other day I was watching SRV and after all of these years I broke down. I realized the pain of SRV's life. All of this pain, he gets sober, clean and got deeper into music when many would turn. They'd turn because they no longer have any Blues to share. He's now a star and gets a helicopter ride (something broke people never get) and he is killed in a crash. To get passed this I reasoned that Jimi Hendrix passed in 1970, another tortured soul, and lived in SRV and at the right moment the Lord took them so they could jam together with the Big Guy! If not that then life is always the blues. RIP SRV
Stevie played with his brother under the name The Vaugn Brother. One of my favorite songs is Good Texan. Others from that genre of jazz is Muddy Watters and I heard you mention Miles Davis. So many though.
I was lucky enough to see BB King perform several times. Another great blues guitarist is Joe Bonamassa who opened for B B when he was 12. Check out Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart I’d Rather Go Blind (Etta James Cover)
The smell of incense and blues music was my childhood. My dad was a huge blues junkie. Stevie, Albert Collins & Koko Taylor got a lot of play in my house.
