Stevie changed the lyrics. Buddy Guy stuck pretty much to the words of the original nursery rhyme. Note that SRV referred to the lamb's color as being "black as coal," rather than "white as snow." I thought that was inspired! By the way, in 1989 Stevie is even better in the Austin performance of the song, and you get a bonus solo by Reese on the keys! Check it out.

SRV in his genre is akin to Elvis in the way that from the first chord before he even starts singing you know without a doubt who is playing that guitar. I agree his band doesn't get the credit they deserve, they compliment him perfectly. It's just hard to imagine how many more songs the world could have had if he hadn't died so young.

He performed an absolutely killer version of this in France, the performance was on 7-3-1983 and RU-vid has it. Better than any version I've heard from SRV; he threw in some cool jazz, and it really Is next level.

Love the hats and T-shirts👏🙌. Thanks for doing this today. The best version of this song is from Austin City Limits 1989! It features Reese Wynans on the keyboards and has much more variety of riffs and solos and is very high energy. That said there are no bad SRV videos only better ones...I hope you dedicate another month to him. We lost him in August and we celebrate his birthday in October for some suggested months. I would really love to hear you react to a creation by Stevie called Riveria Paradise that he composed after his own rehab and recovery. He dedicates it to all those out there that are suffering in any way and it's simply exquisite💫⭐️🌟✨ and shows off a different skill sets and style of playing. It is soothing and healing balm for spirit and soul🎸🎶💙✌️💯. But please do the Austin City Limits 1989 one. I don't know about the UK but that venue is never blocked in the states so please try without a filter first‼️

What Harriet said. The Austin performance is much longer also with 2 brilliant solos by SRV and Reese and is a 10. You're just scratching the surface. Please consider also as the instrumental Harriet suggested "Riviera Paradise" from the 1989 Austin show.

Making one more visit to Stevie's resting place before leaving Texas. Today's 'real feel' here is 106°. The video from Austin 1989 is much more high energy. You also get a solo from Reese Wynans, keyboards.

Probably so annoying as reactors when people say this, but it's too bad you didn't do the "Austin City Limits" version - that's one of his top few live vids in existence, if that vid wasn't SO phenomenal I wouldn't be 'that guy' to make that comment - this was maybe the one track he took a break in this entire set, which is absolutely fire turned up to 1,000% - funny that this is 'chill Stevie' - a great song from El Mocambo where he absolutely rips that Strat to pieces is "So Excited" - would love to see it! Anyway, his version of this Buddy Guy song is excellent always! So glad you had your Stevie month, great to hear any time he comes across your screen! Thanks!

Got to see SRV around ‘85 or ‘86 or so at a great venue (James L. knight Center) in Miami. A place built for musical events rather than a re-purposed basketball or hockey arena or worse, a stadium. His brother Jimmie and the Fabulous Thunderbirds were the opening act. I’ll never forget the “Karen” that was sitting directly in front of us, who felt compelled to turn around and severely reprimand us for lighting up a joint. Can you imagine someone actually smoking weed at a rock concert?? I don’t know what we were thinking. Temporary insanity I guess.
