Someone commented that Jeff Beck played the guitar solo on this song but it's actually Mike Sembello. On keyboard is Greg Phillinganes not Stevie.

Glad you liked it JJ. Always good to enjoy good music with you. After all the Stevie Wonder vocal classics, I have to say, this piece is probably my favourite by the man. Mike Sembello's guitar work here is just mind boggling. I think Stevie did this at the height of the jazz fusion era, where Miles, Weather Report, Chick Corea and his group Return to Forever were pushing and crossing the boundaries. Perhaps where the "Contusion" title comes from...

Actually, the title is based upon his near fatal auto accident . It happened in August 1973. Stevie suffered a serious head injury which left him comatose for 4 days. His next album was aptly titled "Fulfullingness First Finale"

My brother gave me this and the White Album for my 12th birthday. This has been my favorite song ever since. I think this song is why I love Groove Collective so much

Hey, I'm just a middle aged British white guy who liked prog and jazz, but this changed my perspective back in the day and no mistake. I hope it broadens your horizons as it did mine. Enjoy into the future all.
