The guy in her video is actually one of her dancers for her “1989” world tour and “reputation” world tour..he is also a singer and she helped him get a recording contract and she invited him to be one of the opening acts on her current “eras tour” ..his name is Christopher owens and goes by the name Owenn..the swifties love him ❤

The guy in her video is one of her former longterm dancers. I think overall, Taylor tends to keep her circle small. She's very into loyalty. Her backup singers and band have been with her for YEARS. Many from the very start with her first tour ever.

The guy in her Lover video : Owen… she actually rightfully so used her privilege and recognized his talent And got him a record contract with republic records. The same record label she’s with. And she had him open up on her Eras Tour.

As some have told you, the guy is Owen, he was one of her dancers. Owen is now singing, Taylor had him open for her on the Eras Tour. Taylor also had one of her dancers from her Red tour in her "Willow" MV and he is of Asian descent. When Taylor hires dancers, backup singers, or whatever, she wants the best and she hires people of all races and body shapes for their talent. She also gave huge bonuses, Taylor gave out a total of over $50 million to everyone who worked the Eras Tour. Check out King of My Heart from the Reputation tour, Owen plays the lead.

If you've gotten a chance to see King of My Heart from Reputation Tour, the main dancer in that is this same guy, Owenn. I love their connection (friends), so glad he got to be in the video. If you haven't gotten a chance to see that clip from the Rep Tour, of King of My Heart, you should check it out! Same dancer is in 1989 tour too! He isn't a dancer for her now but he opened for some of the Eras Tour concerts with his own music. There's a moment in their routine in Rep that shows how joyful and fun they are together.

This is also the album with You Need to Calm Down. I think it's fitting that an album called Lover focuses on showing there's no room for hate.

Love that you asked the question of her choice of her lover. She has taken a strong stance on equality. As a biracial individual, I really appreciate that she is not afraid to stand up for all. Girl, what? Chris has been a part of the swiftie community for 10 years. He was a dancer back then & was a part of the 1989 & reputation tour. They’re friends and we all love him. Taylor helped him secure a record deal and has been supporting him ever since. He was an opener for the eras tour last year too! His stage name is Owenn and his music is pretty good.

Not only was Owenn one of the main backing dancers on the rep tour (check out the live version of king of my heart from the rep tour, he was the centre of that and an amazing dancer) BUT she helped get the guy a recording contract with republic in 2021 & hes even opening the eras tour i believe.

What makes people love Taylor Swift, is how she gives her all, she doesn't just stand there and sing, she gives a performance as if you were at a musical play. She talks to her fans, cares about them, and helps people out, Taylor loves to give back to her fans, she has sent some of them Christmas presents, it was called Swiftmas, she went out bought the presents and wrapped them, she sent each of those fans a huge box of presents, not just one present. She surprised one fan by showing up at her bridal shower with tons of presents. Taylor has had Secret Sessions, where she invited fans to her various homes lets them hear the newest album, and sings for them, she also bakes for them, then at the end of each session they take selfies, and if some of them aren't happy with the picture, she would let them redo it until they were. When Taylor was younger she did meet and greets for 13 hours or more. She showed up at an engagement party for a guy (I think he contacted Taylor)who wanted to surprise his fiance, who was also a guy. She is the whole package, writer, singer, musician of multiple instruments, and an overall performer. She has been in the business for 17 years or so, she has no tattoos (that we know of) she hasn't been to any rehab places, she is still humble, and still thanks her fans when she wins awards.

Each room is a different color to represent the color of each of her albums. There are a lot of Easter eggs in this video also that she is always doing for her fans!

Taylor finds friends and artists, and sticks with them. She supports her dancers and back up singers dreams, which is part of what she is doing here with Chris Owens. He was her back up dancer and friend for many years, and she likes to put people she trusts in her videos. I've never seen Taylor judge a person by anything other than whether they are kind.

Go find the BBC Lounge version of this song. The singers are harmonizing in the background. It's beautiful. I was not a fan before this. It reminded me of an old jukebox with maybe a Johnny Cash vibe. It got me thinking about an old boyfriend that passed away and I found myself crying knowing he would have loved it. He played acoustic guitar. I haven't had anything affect me like that for years. Then Folklore came out during Covid isolation for me. That was it. Am I a massive Swiftie? I'm more of a dedicated Folkorian. But if you read her lyrics like poems, then play the song? It makes so much sense. There is talent there that draws you in.

Just wanted to add in that excluding 2 music videos which were about a real live person, Taylor hasn’t cast a leading white man in a tour or a video in a decade. She makes an effort when it comes to representation without trying to draw attention to herself for it, if that makes sense. This was something I noticed and went back and checked into.

And he was one of the opening acts during the Eras Tour. I was able to see him in his element. He reminds me so much of Powerline from A Goofy Movie, in the most incredible way possible, when he's performing. His music is so good. I recommend checking him out.

Taylor is one of the most unique singers of this century. You nailed it on the head - the whole package. A very few can write and sing a number one hit. Only a few of those can do it again. You can count on one finger how many can do it over and over and over again for 17 years? Unheard of. Not one of her albums has been close to a dud. On the contrary, the progression might not be exactly sequential, but very close to each one being better than the next. And likewise the re-records are even better than the originals.

I love that you even called it out that she had Owenn as her love interest because I honestly didn't even think of it when I saw the video originally. I see interracial relationships, including my own, and dont really think much of it. But it is actually important that she uses her influence to show that.

For her first headlining tour, Fearless (when she was still COUNTRY country in Nashville), she very specifically had auditions be completely open to anyone, and that was also a choice she made on the Eras tour (sources: Fearless concert documentary, interview with her choreographer, both available on RU-vid). She didn’t make a big deal of it or anything, but I thought it was cool of her. Since a lot of artists don’t even seem to think about it or consider it, y’know? And since this is her title track on the album… And it’s so SOFT and tender… I dunno, man. Good vibes. Basically this is me trying to answer the ‘whose choice was this’ question, because it was probably Taylor herself who brought it up (since she co-directed the music video and I’ve seen at least two other instances of it being her own suggestion). Lavender Haze is another good one. The behind the scenes on that are cute, too.

And she writes all her songs herself - you're going down the rabbit hole, welcome, the water is fine, but you haven't mentioned yet, that she writes ALL her stuff herself! One of her first hits, she actually wrote, then performed at her 9th grade talent show, then it was recorded on her album...if you listen to her albums you can hear her growing as a song writer- I feel bad for people that only know her biggest hits from the radio/streaming platforms because there is so much depth to her music that they are missing out on. It’s sad you don’t seem to think highly of Taylor’s fans. No fan would EVER come at her for featuring a black man in her video as a love interest, just like no fan would EVER come at her for her allyship, or featuring a trans black man in her Lavender Haze video. Maybe a shift of mindset is needed about “Swifties” because you seem to have mistakenly aligned us with the American Taliban party (GOP). A look at the diversity of her dancers on the ERAS tour shows just how important representation & inclusion is to her.

I agree that there are many many bigots in this country. It seems to be getting worse rather than better recently and that makes me sad. I think it's wonderful for Taylor Swift to have a black man as her love. It's bold Funny that the man she is in a relationship with, Taylor is not his usual type (and he is not her type). Travis Kelce has mostly dated very beautiful African American ladies. And she has usually date creative types like actors and musicians. With this video and then Travis past girlfriends it shows. neither is hung up on race. And that is how it should be. But, it seems the younger generations like yours is more open then mine. I'm a boomer and while that generation opened the idea of equality up along with the civil rights movement backsliding has taken hold over the last several years. It may be that far more in my generation kept their real opinions to themselves as it was no longer acceptable. Yours and Taylor's and Travis' generation grew up with dating, etc outside your own race as normal.
