Love the look on her face to what is simply, in my opinion, the greatest rock/blues song of all time!! To think this was done in ONE TAKE back in 1964 is beyond belief!!!

Thank you. I really think that it's important and just respectful to recognize that the foundational music that still stands up today was being done in the actual moment. I don't mean to slam the very legitimately good music that's happening today, but it's really important to acknowledge that these artists were sounding Just. That. Amazing. in one recording, on one track, in one take.

Don't forget Alan Price on keys was only 22/23 when this was recorded, and Eric Burdon singing was 23. A lot of talent.

Unfortunately Alan took much of the residuals on this music. I think he did much of the arrangement of this song. The rest of the band received not much money or nothing. Neal had a fear of flying.

Al these guys were born within ten miles of where I live. These were working-class Geordie boys with a love of Southern music. Massive respect. The big Bass player, Chas Chandlers, became Jimmy Hengrix's manager.

I was 9 years old when this song came out. I never saw the actual lead singer Eric Burden and the rest of the band until this video. I was amazed at how young he was and how cool he was. He looked and acted like this great voice he displayed was effortless.

Chandler and Valentine are deceased. Valentine is taller. My late grandfather was a bass guitarist. He would have had fun playing along side Chas. My grandfather was a singer, song writer, and composer as well.

They did this in one take even though the lead singer suffers from asthma. And their is a place in New Orleans call the House of the Rising Sun, but it is a bed and breakfast.

To me the house of the rising sun was a rough bar/gambling hall/whore house in a very bad part of New Orleans. The animals were the perfect group for this song especially Eric Burden and the keyboard player. This was there first hit and it set an impossible high bar for them.

The Animals' guitarist Hilton Valentine, best known for the iconic opening riff on the English rock band's arrangement of "The House of the Rising Sun," has died at the age of 77. 29th January 2021. R.I.P. Keyboard player Alan Price has a fear of flying, and as he travelled the world performing his 60s hits he was gripped with the constant fear of flying. He had to have a shot of vodka before he could even step on a plane.“I once did a tour of 70 cities so that meant 70 vodkas!” said Alan, whose keyboard wizardry turned the Animals into a household name. It was one of the reasons he left the band in 1965.

I've listened to many many many reactions of This track, Im 49, my music tastes are 60s 70s 80s 90s ( the 00's were shite) I'm stunned no one of aged (current 18-30) hasn't heard of this. You have a world of music to react too. I envy you.

What I loved about the 60's bands is you knew all the members and they were just as important as the lead singer. Most of them could have had solo careers but bands were the thing at the time.

@@Zebred2001 Thanks, man. The oddest thing about this is that since I posted comments about this song, she SEEMS to be getting better and more willing to fight this. I'm not counting chickens yet. But when I wrote this I was I was counting HOURS, and now... I have more faith in my badass Mom than I ever have. If ANYONE can beat this shit... its the woman that sang "House of the Rising Sun" to her infant boy to get him ready for the world's bullshit. Right?!

About the 60's performance, as you commented. Remember, we didn't have "music videos" as in modern times. There was just a video of a band playing and singing their song. Not a "performance" like music videos of today. And yes, lots of groups wore the same clothes as in a unform and many wore suits and ties. The organ was a very popular instrument in those days. Most bands had one. Listen to Baby Please Don't Go.

Eric burdon vocal.Chas chandler bass.Hilton Valentine guitar.John steel drums.Alan price keyboard.Chas died several years ago.Hilton died jan292021.Alan left the band in 1966.Eric still performs. Check out winds of change album from 1968.Alan prices keyboard ending brings the whole song together

The press jumped on the Beatles but the Animals were arguably a far better band. Eric Burton was the perfect vocalist and front man but the whole band were fantastic. Check out Please Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood. A lesson in vocal and timing

It was all professional back than unlike today's time! Your appearance, way you carried yourself, dressed, ect. Strictly soon a professional level! Actually I miss this! Look at the sports games even from the 40, 50 's & 60' s EVERYONE was in suits and dresses! You could actually tell the men from the woman back than and men were gentlemen and woman were ladies! Back when the male & female actually played their roles that God made them to be! Certainly way better times! Smh
