FIRST TIME HEARING The Band - Don't Do It 

Yes, you are right. I have loved The Band since I first heard "Up on Cripple Creek" in the late sixties. Last summer I started to read Robbie's book Testimony, was almost done when the sad news came that he had died. I also started to listen to some of there songs I had forgotten about, and with the videos on Utube, I became very interested in Rick, his soulful voice,, his endearing personality, good looks and charisma. I then bought Barney Hoskyns biography of The Band, and also which is more of a picture book, but still have a lot of information "The Story of The Band" From Big Pink to The Last Waltz. Also read recently Joe Forno Jr.s book "Levon's Man. He was a Woodstock native and managed The Band (sans Robbie) from mid eighties to 1994. All have some valueable information, so for anyone interested there is enough to dig into. Have not read Levon's book, althouth I love his singing and drumming his bitterness towards Robbie is a turn off. Forno's book gives a good insight to Levon's personality. Much to like about Levon, but he had some personality issues.

Their music was. When the were ready to tour after I think the brown album, Rick had a near fatal car accident, he was in the hospital for weeks, and after that needed time to recover fully. He had broken his neck and back in several places. They were at Woodstock, Watkins Glen, Wembley and other avenues.
