Sorry…one more comment. This annotated video from the live concert I referenced below gives a lot of good information about the band. And yes, the bass player’s parents actually named her Michael. Her actual name is Michael (Micki) Susan Steel. She was with the Runaways before joining the Bangles. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rJ-i2RRGICM.html
It was a cover of the original by the Beach Boys. But I prefer the Bangles' version. They rock! Check out more Bangles: Walk Like An Egyptian, Eternal Flame, Manic Monday, In Your Room.
While the Beach Biys may have also done a cover of this, the original was performed by Simon & Garfunkel. This version was in a movie. The video for it is awesome and you can actually see the Bangles performing. All four of the ladies sing, so you’re hearing four part harmony, with a brief solo part by Susanna Hoffs, their rhythm guitarist. You may also want to listen to Manic Monday which was written for them by Prince, or Eternal Flame. If you really want to do deep dive, there are videos of their live performance at a college in Pittsburgh in I believe it was 1986. They are amazing live!
