“You make it your wedding song.” When my daughter was 10 years old we were listening to the BeeGees’Too Much Heaven’ in the car. My daughter said, “Dad would you dance this song with me at my wedding?” “Absolutely” I told her. 20 years later on 12/31/19, I fulfilled that promise to her at her wedding when she & I danced to this beautiful song.
This young women gets it ! She looks like she is experiencing 100 emotions all at once. Its great to see someone so young appreciate this fantastic music
Hahaha’n I see nothing but boredom and pain in her expression. Where is the joy?? Where is the enthusiasm?? She barely makes moves!! If it was me I’d be bopping it out all over the place. She says it’s beautiful then SHOW it!!
@@birdladyszczesiak2502are you looking at the same girl? It’s clear to see she’s feeling that. Are you just wanting to hit your evil quota for the day?! SMH
Wow as someone who grew up in the 70s, it boggles my mind that there are people that still haven’t heard it. It’s one of the greatest songs ever written and performed. I’m happy to see this, it’s a great thing to see someone as young as you appreciates and respects it.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for not pausing the song in order to comment. I grew up on The Bee Gees. Your reaction is exactly like I feel about them.
Its so funny because not all people appreciated the Bee Gee's, many people did not like their sort of quivering sound but it is what made them so unique and special,....just love them and so sorry that Maurice and Robin have left us, also Andy Gibb as well...🙏❤❤❤❤
Even once they stopped performing regularly the brothers still wrote and produced a huge body of music. They had a huge artistic impact on the industry.
Julie, I wrote this to the young woman who has this channel, but then read the comments and saw yours. I was 18..... I was a young man of 18 when that song came out. My first girlfriend and I were so in love. Even today at the age of 61, I remember her face and eyes, as if I'd just seen her. We celebrated the fourth of July together, at my home town's park fireworks in 1978. We had a blanket spread out in the grass, on the ground and enjoyed our time together, but after the fireworks ended, which was about 10 p.m. we stayed. I'd brought a small radio along. There's wasn't a cloud in the sky. We laid there in each others arms, talking and kissing, and just being a couple. We were there till 1 a.m. The park police drove by a few times, and never approached us. I think maybe they realized that this was a magic time for the two of us. Then this song came on, and at that moment we were both taken by it's beauty and truth. We'd each heard it numerous times, but were taken by it and both of us teared up. I'll never forget the Bee Gees music, or my first love, Katy. To this day, when I hear, either, Too Much Heaven, or especially How Deep Is Your Love, I'm taken back to her and my memories of my first love Katy. The Bee Gees, Billy Joel(Just The Way You Are), Air Supply........ They taught me what is, and the beauty of, romantic love. I still tear up at times when I hear their beautiful loves songs. I truly mean this...... I hope you experience the same. Love doesn't have to be wasted on youth. It's the romance and feeling of having someone that reaches and touches your soul, that's important. God Bless.
@@letitrest4662 what a lovely story! I can't say I ever had an "our song" with any of my boyfriends, and my husband is 4 years younger than I and from England. He's into house, trance and rave music, while I'm into classic rock and blues. 😂 We're teaching each other about our musical tastes. When I first met him, I sang "Come Sail Away" to him, and when he came to live with me in the States, we went to a Styx concert. He builds synths, so he enjoyed the synth in their music and had a great time at the concert. He also actually likes some disco. The Bee Gees we're the best thing to happen to the disco era, for sure, and we can agree on that! Thank you for sharing your beautiful story!! ❤️❤️
I grew up with the music of the 70's, and I feel so fortunate. looking back on it, and sharing it with my children, and seeing younger folks hearing it for the first time, gives me goosebumps. I had tears as well, so beautiful. Great reaction.
It would be amazing if the children today could go back in our time and listen to our music that we had then instead of the crap they’re listening to now I mean that with all my heart!
Yes Ma'am I did too. We Had An Opportunity To Be Born In A Time And Geographical Location To Be Able To Enjoy Some Of The Best Music. And Drive The Best Hot Rods
here is a sweet, interesting fun fact: The Bee Gees donated all the publishing royalties of "Too Much Heaven" to UNICEF, in honor of the International Year Of the Child (1979).
Watching your reaction was PRICELESS. Try "MORE THAN A WOMAN" by the BeeGees & "HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE" but I'll warn you that ANYTHING by the BeeGees is "angelic" as you put it! 👍🙏👌
Had the great pleasure to play supporting Group to the Bee Gees in 1968 in Selkirk in Scotland - a great night!!! Our band was called The State Property!!! I am unfortunately the only one left alive in Our band. A lovely memory!!
It’s pretty cool to see the younger generations taking the initiative to explore music that was before their time. Another testament to the timelessness of music. It gets better when you can understand the era in to the music from which it was created. The world was much different then - less politically polarized and people actually engaged in conversations. People didn’t define themselves politically and put up barriers if another persons political views were different from their own. It was a time of discovery through a more broad lens of love that was more important than politics. The music of the 70s defined America at the time it was healing from the Vietnam war.
true. my mom and her sister would jump in the car with Mexicans and roam around everywhere. my grandfather tried to make them racist and it never took. I'm glad because mom loved Motown and introduced me to that world.
@@FeatherstoneApothecary We all loved “Motown” there was no division there with us, the kids listening. Maybe some older lighter folks didn’t like it. We LOVED it!!!
This is BY FAR my favorite reaction to this Bee Gee song. Firstly because you didn't continually pause and comment all the way through. I believe that Barry's music is Divinely inspired ✨️ Angelic is a lovely description. I cry everytime I listen to this music 🎶 Thank you for loving this 💖 My music growing up in this time. Beautiful music we had then.❤
the expressions on your face were priceless. You at times looked scared amazed confused and looked like you couldnt believe what you heard lol. Probably the best best harmony group ever.
I didn’t appreciate this song for the masterpiece that it is back when I was growing up. The beautiful lyrics, musicianship and vocals are astonishing.
I graduated high school about the time this song was popular. I’m sorry your generation has nothing that compares. Your appreciation of the Bee Gees is touching. ❤
You cannot go wrong with The Bee Gees. Any of their songs will be amazing for you to experience. Older stuff like Masachusets and Words, I started a joke, as well as their more popular songs like Staying alive and How deep is your love. They are all awesome songs you will, almost certainly, love. Dive on in, ma'am, the 'water' is beautiful.
Agree, but, even their lesser known, adventurous forays into themes/music are utterly amazing: 'ESP' and 'Edge of the Universe', for a couple. Key is their ability to evoke clear, relatable images in listeners' minds through their music/lyrics.
I agree, you can never go wrong with the Bee Gees. I grew up with their music and I'm in my 60s.But my mom & dad loved their music too! Bee Gees are a hit with every generation.
I'm stoked to find this in my feed. A 63yr old, I live in Queensland Australia. My son lives in Redcliffe, north of Brisbane where the Bee Gee family moved to, from England. It's a seaside village that commemorates the guys in a interactive open air mall. Their music plays 24/7. It's beautiful, full of life size pictures and statues, etc. They had a younger brother Andy, who found some fame, married Victoria Principal, but died in the 80's
The Bee Gees (among the most successful groups of all time) wrote & released Too Much Heaven in 1978. It was climbing charts world wide (already #1 in US & Canada, #3 in UK) before the Jan 1979 fundraiser, “Music for UNICEF.” They then donated, in perpetuity, ALL their royalties, not just from the UNICEF event, merch & compilation album (as the other bands did, though some just for a limited time), but also their publishing rights. So, UNICEF continues to get paid, from anyone’s version & any use (including in movies, TV, commercials, etc). As the 1st band to make such a donation to charity, they were recognized for it by UN Secretary General, Kurt Waldheim & invited to the White House by President Carter. The last official tally I saw was 2011, saying UNICEF had received more than 10 million British pounds from it, for emergency food & healthcare. I’ve seen others post it hit 20 million as of 2019, but I haven’t found an official source for that.
Although I was not a big fan of the Bee Gees I was there. One day I was driving on Sunset Blvd and they were coming from the opposite way in a convertible I think doing a music video. They made great music that will stand the test of time.
I’m 72 years old. I’ve known of them for YEARS. !!! . They have the most beautiful, amazing voices. I cry every time I hear them because I cry for Barry’s brothers. They are all past now. The two with Barry are twins Robin and Maurice. Then there was a younger brother Andy. He’s no longer with us either. Robin died because of Cancer. Maurice died a few years later due to abdominal problems. Andy the youngest died from medical overdose. I feel so bad for Barry. He is all alone except for his wife and children. They all live in Miami now and became US citizens.
I was also crying because I grew up with them and Barry Gibb is the last man standing. All three of his brothers have passed. Every song The Bee Gees made is amazing 💯🌟💜🌟💯
Being born in the early 70s, this song is so comforting to me. Non-specific, nostalgic childhood feel. Background music of my early days. I can't help but love it!
Being brothers, the BeeGees had genetically similar vocal apparatuses and their vibratos were synced in a physical way... their pitch was spot on too. Wonderful musicians. Meaningful lyrics.
Exactly...they "layered" naturally together. This sound is what all the artists do today with a computer, layering their own voice multiple time to achieve a fuller sound...something the Bee Gees did naturally, with their own raw talent.
The Bee Gees were blessed by God with their angelic voices! The beautiful lyrics to this song along with their amazing harmonies bring tears to my eyes even after hearing it hundreds and hundreds of times over the past 50 years. The BeeGees have written many songs for other artists. Their vocal talents are 2nd to none! Younger brother Andy tragically died five days after his 30th birthday. Maurice died of a sudden heart attack at age 53 and Robin died of cancer at 62. R.I.P. Brothers Gibb ❤ Barry, the oldest of the Gibb brothers (with a 4 octave range who is famous for his extremely high vibrato) is still going strong at 77 years old. Absolute Royalty in the music industry ❤❤❤❤
I feel the same way when listening to Stairway to Heaven. I also grew up in the 60s and 70s, I've heard Stairway to Heaven a couple of thousand times, especially since my band used to perform it, and I still get goosebumps. When you see this comment, look up Stairway to Heaven with Heart, and John Bonham's son Jason Bonham. Led Zeppelin was there they were all overwhelmed with emotion. It's a beautiful thing to see.
The Bee Gees were the Best. Their voices were absolutely beautiful, especially Barry and his falsetto. You don't hear voices like this today. So gifted, so talented and pure raw talent. No auto tune, no yelling and screaming, they Just could sing and the Harmony was ridiculous! Amazing, amazing voices from God!❤❤😊😊❤❤😊😊
I've seen so many of these reactions to The Bee Gees "Too Much Heaven", but yours is by far the best. Thank you for respecting it but not interrupting it. Your reaction was just like all of ours when we first heard it back in the 70's, we were all speechless too.
No autotune. No dubbing. I saw the Bee Gees live, and I promise you, the harmonies were EXACTLY what you heard on that video! Thank you for sharing your reaction. I had goosebumps within the first 30 seconds as I remembered when the song first came out! (I'm 61!!) PLEASE dig deeper in the Bee Gees, especially the pre-Disco years!!
I was going to suggest "How Deep is Your Love?" as well. It is wonderful. The Gibb brothers did sound like angels. We are blessed to have those sounds with us.
They were a true musical gift to so many. Started as young boys and worked on their harmonies endless ly. So glad you can appreciate them. Bring them back around for others to marvel at.
I was born in 1970...and I remember the Bee Gees growing up later on. I can see the tears in your eyes. The harmony that they have is undeniably beautiful and mind-blowing. The lyrics are beautiful--and I have been a fan of theirs for years. Their voices will forever be missed. Barry (the oldest and the lead singer) is the only surviving member of the group. They are timeless and one of my favorite groups ever!
The reason The Bee Gees sound so good together is because they are brothers. Related family members can often sound much tighter in their harmonies than musical groups who are unrelated. It’s literally in their DNA.
Well…here’s another interesting fact…this remarkable song was recorded _IN ONE TAKE!!_ You would never see that done in today’s soulless musical climate.
@@flightforensics4523Awesome that must’ve been a hell of an experience. Obviously she was a top talent to work with such an amazing Band and group of Human Beings. This is some of the best music ever. Kudos to you Mother.
Watching this young lady tear-up over a song that was released when I was 8 and she wasn’t even born speaks to the power of song…and restores my hope for the young souls
I'm very glad I was around for music from the 60's, 70's 80's and 90's. Very thankful to have been around when the Bee Gees passed this way. From the bee-bop years...the late 60's early 70's revolution in music...the big hair era of the 80's and melodic sounds of the 90's. What great music that so few are exposed to now.
Beautiful heavenly harmony for sure. The Bee Gees are my favorite band ever. I never get tired of listening to the many, many beautiful songs they wrote, sang and shared.
BeeGees song "Words" is really beautiful as well. It always makes me cry! If you take a deep dive into ALL their music I don't think you will be disappointed.
Bee Gee's are beyond a doubt one of the most phenomenal bands ever but if you would like to hear some more incredible harmonious vocals listen to some of the more songs from the Eagles you will be blown away
The Bee Gees really hit it big when the lead singer started singing in Falsetto. People really loved it. lol Your look of complete confusion had me laughing through the entire song.
And they began to come apart when he got tired of it, and wanted to try new sounds, and his brother (Robin) wanted to stick to what was working and making them rich and famous.
@@GK-yi4xv They came apart because of the whole "burn disco" craze that was started by a DJ at radio station in Chicago. The station hosted a Disco Demolition Night as a White Sox Double Header between the games. Since the Bee Gee were connected so closely with disco because of Saturday Night Fever, they took the brunt of it despite them being so much more than disco. They were not played on the radio here in the US for decades because of it. It's only been about 10-15 years now that I hear them being played regularly now. The all of their hits after the late 70's were made overseas as they rarely got any radio time here in the US.
@@lisamccue1730 Either way, he could sing!! Maurice didn't sing lead much, but he could also sing your socks off. Robin had a unique voice that I doubt will ever be copied or repeated.
That song was made in one take!! No voice overs nothing! The Bee Gees were one of the Best ever. So sad so many generations miss pure talent like the Bee Gees!! Just listen to any Bee Gees songs. Better yet listen to all of them!!!
The Bee Gees are the real deal. They got the tight harmonies by singing together from the time they were kids until Robin and Maurice passed away. I saw them tuning up before a show in Las Vegas. What you hear is what they sound like. I asked the sound man who was at the mixing board at the Vegas show what type of processors he was using on the vocal mics. He said, just a little echo and a little reverb so it wouldn't sound so dry. Other than that, nothing. It's just them. I was blown away.
Thank you so much for the great reaction to the Bee Gees songs! To hear someone say such sincere comments brings back memories of how much their music touched the lives of so many people and how their words have touched the hearts of all the fans especially to those that have been there since the premiere of Saturday Night Fever!
I just saw your video. I'm 59 and grew up on this music. It still touches my heart and I get choked up. So glad to see a young person truly appreciate the talented trio that they were! Thanks for your time.
It is a blessing to see and hear your reaction to this phenomenal band. I was crying just because they were just the best in everything they put out. There won’t be another Bee Gees. I miss them and the 70s music sooo much. Glad you are experiencing them, they are like no other 💖
They're fantastic. I love that you go from Tom Jones to The Bee Gees. It's beautiful, and truly brilliant. You could very well be exposing a whole new generation to these amazing artists. I grew up listening to Delta blues and metal, but no one can hear these guys and not FEEL! Thank You so much!! Now, please don't miss Foo Fighters (as Dee Gees(Dave Grohls) and their cover of The Bee Gees "You Should Be Dancing"! Until next time!💙
The BEE GEES, wow. I remember Saturday night fever very well also, they rocked it in the mid, to late 70's, during the big disco era, sadly we lost robin and Maurice Gibb, only Barry Gibb, is alive. What a iconic group, we were blessed with. There music will live on for ever, for the new generation to hopefully enjoy.
For those of us who came of age in the 70's the Bee Gee's were an integral part of our lives. I can't think of the 70's without thinking of the Bee Gee's. And their songs bring back so many emotions from that time in my life.
There's something about siblings' harmonies that just works so well. The Andrews sisters, the Mills brothers, the BeeGees (brothers Gibb), the Everly brothers. Btw, I really like how you listened to this song and waited until the end before you commented (we could see your reaction).
I’ve been a Bee Gees fan since their mid-70s Main Course work. This song received so much air play when it came out (at their peak) that I quickly tired of hearing it and relegated it to a place lower on my list of favourite Gibb songs. Thanks to your video and reaction, I think I love it all over again now!
Thank you for reacting to the Bee Gees and recognizing how amazing and talented they are. I've always loved the Bee Gees and your comments made me cry. ❤
I grew up listening to the Bee Gees ( i'm old, 61:) I still listen to them regularly. This song is so beautiful and still makes me cry. God bless you and bless Barry who has lost his brothers. I lost my only brother in 2020 as well. "Love you inside and out" also " One" two of my favs, you will love them.
So many of the ladies have the same type of reaction when Barry starts singing. At first it is a look of being stunned then there is emotion starting then confusion.
Thank you for sharing this unquestionably brilliant song. You absolutely nailed the reaction to this song. The Bee Gees are near the top of ‘Best bands to ever perform!’ list of music makers. More over, thank you for NOT interrupting the song…letting it shine on its own, and man how it did and does shine! I like you lots!
I'm so pleased with your response to the Bee Gees ! I'm 60 and now I have time to really listen and enjoy them. When i was your age I was running and enjoying life at the pace of my Favorite musical genre Heavy Metal 🪙 so much terrific music so little time !
I grew up solid 10 years after the Bee Gees heyday... and at that time they were considering lame and out of step... But in hindsight their output it goddamn brilliant.
Wearing the headphones listening to "Too Much Heaven" .... it envelopes you and melts into your soul. I'm so glad to have happened on to your video, it was just so heartwarming to see your reaction to the angelic harmonies of the Brothers Gibb
I truly believe a big part of the lovely BeeGees harmonies come from the fact that they’re brothers and have the same quality of voice. Families often have an uncanny ability to harmonize so incredibly well together in music.
I was 7 when this song came out. Brings back great beautiful childhood memories. GORGEOUS SONG from the awesome BEE GEES!!! And you, young lady... you get it! I love how you actually saw the beautiful elements of this musical piece from 40 years before you were born. You have that brilliant musical taste. I appreciate you!
‘A warm hug’ - what a great description of the BeeGees!!! They have @45 years of music so you have plenty of time to catch up. Although I bet you’ve heard “Staying Alive” and just didn’t know it was them. Harmonies are always great. Subscribed for more BeeGees!!
