This is southern rock at it's finest. Love their music from the 70's. Some of their other big hits were "Can't You See" & "Heard It In A Love Song". Southern rock fiddler Charlie Daniels did quite a few collaborations with them.

I'm so old that I'm a little stunned when I hear somebody say they've never heard of the Marshall Tucker Band. I remember a time when it seemed like everybody in the world was getting high to MTB. Love your reactions. It's much fun to watch someone discover and appreciate the music that we grew up loving.

I'm 50 and I remember my dad beating my ass when I was 8 and on for getting into his vinyl and playing this song and album over and over. You'd have thought he'd been proud of his son being into this music but he wasn't. Still great memories.

MTB may have had more of a country twang but is one of the bands coming out as Southern Rock along with Skynyrd and Allman Bros. Lead singer Toy Caldwell was a Viet Nam vet, and he could bring out emotion like few could. They did make flute playing cool much like Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull did. One other song that is a must is "Can't You See", but they have so many great songs. Don't worry about the Confederate Flat, there are still those of us proud of our southern heritage.

Doug Gray was the lead vocalist. Toy did sing lead on "Can't You See". Toy was an excellent guitarist and main songwriter. RIP Toy , Tommy and George and I'll continue to enjoy your music forever

Southern Rock/Outlaw Country well blended for great songs like this and Can’t You See creating classics that have lasted through my lifetime. Marshal Tucker Band’s use of the flute gave them a distinction not found in other bands of this genre, but so effective and instantly recognizable.

Yes, the 70's had the BEST music, and I am so glad all of my teenage years were in that decade. MTB has a deep catalog from that era, and ALL of it is great. "Can't You See" should be your next one. I prefer the studio version of that one but lots of folks like the live version from '77. This band had an amazing array of talent, and their ability to flesh out amazing melodies was uncanny. And a big influence on their sound was the fact that they had an essentially Jazz drummer, and he really brings a different feel to all of their songs. I've always felt that pigeon holing them as "Country Rock" is unfair, as they are in a genre all their own.

My teenage years were all in the 70s it was the best of times and the best times in my life. Never realized back then that we were listening to the best music in every genre there is. Kinda sad they call them the oldies now days. But its all I listen too. George McCorkle founding member (Guitarist) was my cuzzin he passed in Jun 2007. Lynyrd Skynyrd pre 77 is my all time favorite band.

If you liked that one, react to their perennial "Can't You See". Southern Rock/Blues Rock at its finest. As a young teen we would camp on weekends with friends. Open the hatchback and blare Marshall Tucker, Allman Bros, Skynyrd from the 6x9s into the woods and across the campfire, sipping a cold one and enjoying life! And oh, the flag is just a symbol. It's only controversial if you make it so.

Great song, great group. Met them backstage once back when Toy was still alive and fronting the band. They were kind, cool, humble. Just awesome to see them still holding on to where they came from and not becoming arrogant "Rock Stars". The state of S.C. is proud they call us home.

Welcome to Southern Rock. Marshall Tucker Band, Pure Prairie League, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniel’s, and so many more ruled the airwaves during my high school years, still love their music today, it’s timeless, No auto tune or any other fancy crap, just sheer southern talent and yes, sometimes the accent or drawl may be strong but its roots are true, love the south.

So we go to the concert early at the Dallas Convention Center. They unexpectedly open the doors before anyone is there and we walk in. We are told the network went down and it was general admission. Go in and pick out our seats. We went down and sat front row center. Then we thought we were going to have to be looking up a little too much and moved to 7th row center. Perfect. Great live band with unbelievable vocals.

This is quintessential Southern Rock! The Marshall Tucker Band is/was from Spartanburg, SC, a small city in the Appalachian foothills. I grew up just across the state line in NC. In case you haven’t figured it out, Southern Rock is its own genre. And, yes, the sixties and seventies had the best music ever!

My son is 42 and since the time he and his best buddy were teenagers, practically every til we got together where a guitar was present, this was always the first song they wanted me to play. They would sing the chorus with me at the top of their lungs! I absolutely loved it!!

Their music holds a special place in my heart. Back in the 70s when I thought I wanted to be a marine biologist I spent two summers taking classes at a campus on the gulf coast run jointly by all the universities in my state. Once or twice a week a lot of us would gather on the steps of the dorm with a couple of guitars and more than a couple of bottles of rum and sing late into the night.MTB's songs were always sung each night, sometimes more than once. Good times, good company, good memories, and great music.

The band is from Spartanburg SC. I have seen them live countless times. Toy Calwell died in 1993 of too much cocaine in his body and cardiac arrest. They were one of the best Southern Rock bands. They are still doing concerts.

Saw these guys live New Year's Eve 1978 into 1979 in New Orleans. It was the first live concert broadcast coast to coast. The concert was over around 2AM, my fraternity brothers were unaware that the busses stopped running at midnight and had to hitchhike back to our campground. Some of the guys got a ride with the road crew for Marshall Tucker, the rest of us got a ride from a couple locals who took us way out into the country. We were thinking it was not going to end well, but to our surprise, the next thing we knew they pulled up on a back road at our campground. What an awesome memory despite being pretty hung over for the Sugar Bowl the next day.

I grew up to this. Commercial Fishing family in a tight community where at the beginning of summer the net yards at Fishermen's terminal had 3-7 boats of 5-7 crew working to put nets together, sharing beer food and fun. This music would be playing, and we all just worked to get north and to get a broom in the rigging (100,000 fish). There was healthy competition but a deep camaraderie that only comes from sharing real dangers like combat or bad seas. I would not have grown up any other way despite the losses and injuries Iv suffered. Hope and community are more importent than ANY ideology or woke Narrative. Community will be there when the corporate, woke MSM runs for safety. It music like this that truly tells that Fact. Music that shares a hope and trust in a real moral and ethical foundation. One of the songs that I still remember the first time I heard it. Winter 1975 in a little bar called the keg on the Hudson River in Rensselaer NY across from Albany. Went out with a friend after last match of a wrestling tournament. This was on the juke box. That was back when the drinking age was 18 and you could go to bars in high school.

Hi from New Zealand. 1st time listening to your reaction channel and I’m loving it. Like you I was bought up on hard riffin’ guitar and rock and it’s only been in my latter years I’ve gotten into 70s southern rock. I’d like ya to react to a Lynyrd Skynyrd track called ‘That Smell’. Apart from it being a great song, it has 3 great solos, played by 3 different guitar men, and it allows the listener to hear the difference between Gibson and Fender. The ‘ cream’ of a 59’ LP, the crunch of a 58’ Gibson explorer and the beautiful tone of the Stratocaster. Cheerz

The rebel flag just shows our southern pride. No racism at all. People that think that are the ones that are racist. Would you have said anything if the flag that you saw in the audiance being shown was the 🌈 flag. Everyone can show their own flag without any feedback unless it is a southern flag and now some will get offended at our American Flag! Red Dirt Country is a new thing kinda. I personally refer to it as Modern Outlaw country. Listen to Ryan Bingham sometime. You'll recognize him as the cowboy from Yellowstone, and he also wrote the soundtrack for Crazy Hear. He's coming to Red Rocks this next summer and I want to see him.
