Can you imagine growing up with Stevie, Earth, Wind & Fire, Ohio Players, Parliament/Funkadelics, etc. That was us!!! All of our music was groundbreaking!!
These youngsters today have no idea what they missed out on. But I'm glad they that they can appreciate the old school classics for the gems that they are.
The sax soothes! Ohio Players showcased such versatility. Skin Tight, Fire, I Wanna Be Free, Roller Coaster, It's All Over, Pain, give a listen to any of those a listen and you'll have a different experience with each! Oh yeah ,back in the day most people were high when they listened to the Ohio Players and anything P-Funk.
Young man, this is live instruments being played!!! all the music now is computerized. That ending was drums and other instruments coming to a musical climax!
It was like the Saxophonist and the Drummer were in their own world and told the rest of band to follow alone with this jam, this and Dazz from the Dazz Band are at the top of my favorite instrument lead songs.
That's why the 70s and '80s and even the '60s music was so sampled. Because it was so tight many of these modern-day artists sample it and most of the people who like the new music don't even have a clue to where it came from.
The Ohio Players were one of the greatest bands ever. I remember waking up in the morning with this song playing. That opening mellow guitar sounded so nice half-asleep in bed.
Ashford and Simpson - "It Seems to Hang On" (1978) This song will have you bobbing your head up and down. There's a lot of good beats to this song. 😎👌🏽
Ohio Players not only had great music, but their album covers were the best. Rumor has it that it took 30 minutes and warm soapy water to get the model unstuck from the floor after the Honey shoot.
What in the world am I reading?? 😏 Y'all some crazy funny bunnies 🐰🐰 🐇 After reading both of y'all comments💜... I actually pictured it that way too! 😂😂
Ohio Players were always a fave of mine. Young brother, you need to check out "I Want To Be Free", "Fire", "Honey", "Skin Tight", "Who'd She Coo" and "Contradiction", etc.
I saw in an interview that the model (on the cover & centerfold pictures) got stuck to the plastic board she was laying on because of all the honey that was on her had started to dry during the photo shoot. It took 2 hours of pouring warm water on her to get her loose 😃
There's a reason there's a black history music month - our music from back then is one reason I am absolutely 100% proud to be black. wait till you start exploring Parliament-Funkadelic earthwindandfire Cameo Prince Tina Marie we had musicians that could Jam.
I grew up with real music and musicianship like this! Ohio Players, EWF, Isley Brothers, AWB and Mother's Finest . This music had a huge impact in DC where I grew up. So much so that it gave birth to our own genre of music "Go Go" .. affectionately called that because the music keeps going and transitions from one song to the next without stopping. Go Go bands have a horn section, tambourines, keyboards, strings and a heavy percussion drive with drums, congos, timbales, rototoms and cowbells. So much talent here. Go Go music has also impacted the music industry. Hip Hop artist like Curtis Blow, Salt N Peppa, Jay Z, Diddy, Snoop, Ceelo Green, Kid N Play, Doug E Fresh are only a handful of artist that have used Go Go bands in their music. Unfortunately, Go Go music has not been widely recognized nor accepted by the mainstream music industry. George Clinton of Parliament Funkadelic said that it's not accepted because it is too tribal because of the heavy percussion/drumming for the industry. It's very raw, and you can only truly appreciate it by going to a Go Go show. It's not just music .. it taps into a vibrational frequency that can put you into an almost trance like state! Check out the Godfather of Go Go, Chuck Brown (RIP), Backyard Band and Rare Essence on RU-vid. Thank me later! 😉
Satori My G. That's what this real music does. It plays with your emotions, can satisfy the soul, It takes you on a journey & the lyrics tells you a story. All these genres of music can take you there as long as your willing to explore them. Ive been on this road 50 + yrs & still exploring today. All the reactions you've done so far is a drop in the water of the great oceans of great music that out there. Just sit back & enjoy or if the music hit you, groove in your chair & or get up & dance. Let the music take you where it wants to let you go or where you want to go. It can be a beautiful journey. If you ever get stuck or need to explore more great artists. You got it all at your finger tips just go back to the song you done & look in your commit sections & you will see your new library of music to explore from. From the people that have commits what they've herd & grew up with & the memories the music gave them. For us back then we had to put in work to find the music we felt. From listing on the radio stations changing the channels & the same on tv, word of mouth, going to house parties, clubs roller rinks, run to music stores to music store to find the music we wanted & so on. Enjoy what you've been exploring & see how the music hits you. We've been there & got those same feelings & some times had the same thoughts about the music. Don;t feel too bum out that you weren't from those eras cause you are now enjoying it now & us viewers are passing our torches of the music that we grew up with for you to enjoy. And you are now passing it to your youth viewing generation for them to explore, thanks to you. Keep up the good work & your reel feeling about the music you've just herd. Stay real cause we enjoy how you feel. Peace.
Heard this song for the first time, while watching this video.... and Love it 💜 But, I came back to watch this video again.... Just to see 'Satori My G' reaction; once the saxophone 🎷 started to play. One of the best reactions from Satori!!! Him... and his 'Bill Cosby dance' in the chair 😂😂😂
It seems like all the Music from the 1970s that were 11 minutes long the Rock and the Soul songs were Baby Making Music. And yes people would smoke some weed and relax and just listen to the Music.
As you are finding out; we had it ALL in the 60s, 70s, and 80s R&B. The world before hip-hop. When you HAD to have CHOPS and had to be SPECIAL to sell records.
.... Hmmm 😏 and you wonder why people like watching your reaction?? 😂 Yeah, even that sax 🎷 play is such a sweet sticky thang (You might as well say all the instruments - collab on this song) 😂 Beautiful! 💜🎶🎧🔥🔥
If you thought it sounded that good...now go 🌬🌲🌲🌲...another level! I grew up with this music listening 🎧 sober...excellent! But now 62 with some 🌲💚🤌🏽 a whole other experience!
This took me straight back to the 70s when I was a teen. I listened to this music and never knew how classic this sound was!! We do NOT have this level of talent & skills in today's music. The horns, percussion, vocals...a crescendo of sound! Daytonian 4 Life, born and raised! So blessed to experience this music with U 🥰🥰🥰
Jive Turkey was the bomb too! Fire was one of the BADDEST Dance tracks along with Love Rollercoaster. Oh if your not fraud tryBootsy Collins Telephone Bill.

Thank you!!!! Thank you for share some great music from the past. The trend was. Funk, jazz with complexxx arrangements!!! Check out Donald Byrd! You will love him! Howard university students the Black Byrds were huge as well!!! Amazing music!
The Ohio players wrote all their own music! and played multiple instruments! These brothers should have been in the music hall of fame! and won grammys! back in the day white men ran the grammys well, must I say anymore! Op had their own styles different than any other R&B group. Sadly the majority are now deceased only three left!
One of my favorite groups ever coming out of the 70s, I had this album as well as the fire album! This band is incredible! I was blessed to be able to see them live about six months ago and they were still just as amazing and they had their full band, everything was all about the voices and the instruments, they were🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 you really need to do their biggest hits Fire and roller coaster,
