Maybe the single greatest lyric ever written, "If they gave me a fortune, my pleasure would be small. I could lose it all tomorrow and never mind at all. But if I should lose your love dear, I don't know what I'd do; For I know I'll never find another you." Absolute magic!

@@starwood213 I just LOVE the way Judith holds back a little at the start of the song - making herself sound like a sort of 'backing vocal' for the 3 guys. Gradually, her voice becomes more dominant, and by the time she's doing her solo vocal (with the 3 guys doing the backing) you think "oh hello!! what's this???" - Wonderful stuff.

@@starwood213 heh - todays singers? Judith didn't have 'auto-tune' - She didn't have the 'post production' techniques they have today. I bet she sounded every bit as good live as she did recorded (if not better). I was born a bit too late to see & appreciate Judith 'live' - but I HAVE seen Freddie Mercury (Queen) live... There are some people that can sing, i mean REALLY sing, but they are few & far between :)

Lots of younger people today don't realize how big folk music was back in the early 60s. It was clean-cut feel-good music that brings back memories of good times as an adolescent kid. Great tunes by people who could actually sing and harmonize, and in most cases wrote the music. Btw the Mamas and the Papas came out of the folk music scene and were more folk-rock.

Hi Harri, I'm so happy you chose this song to react to. It is very special to me. When I was about 8 years old, my mom was babysitting a 3-month-old boy named Andrew Paul, and I loved to hold him in my arms. I always loved to sing, and I put this song on the record player and sang to him. The baby laughed and was absolutely delighted by this song. He never reacted that way to any other song. If he cried and I sang it, he immediately stopped crying and began to laugh again. Thank you for bringing up this beautiful memory! ✌🎵

Such a big voice that comes out of this shy, unsure and petite country girl. She was born in the outback of Australia and sewed her own dresses. The Big hit Georgy Girl is easily about her. She admitted in an interview 20 years after this song that she finally realized Men found her Beautiful, Which she is. She is humble and just a treasure. In 2012 The Seekers got back together and recorded a lovely song called Far Shore. Judith is a devout Christian and Far Shore is about meeting her loved ones on the other side after she passes. You should check it out. Recorded when she was in her 70's her voice sound exactly the same.

Judith was born in Melbourne, state capital of Victoria. Not exactly outback! If you want to learn her TRUE story, get your hands on her biography by Graham Simpson, "Colours Of My Life". The lyrics are so deep and the music so simple, there is no excessive instrumentation, just that guitar strum accompanied by a bass guitar.I amm sorry to disappoint the youth of today but nothing beats the music 50s, 60s and 70's. Too much technology has killed music, where are the great lead voices, where is the great vocal group harmony, the sweet melodies, the lovely orchestration and last of all that lyrical poetry? The answer is simple, you have to back into time.Well done my friend, keep searching for these golden classics.

Hello Harri,I have to say you're one of the best music reactors going around, you just keep finding songs from the 60's and 70's that I grew up with and loved and now you surprised me with the Seekers a band from my country,Australia I hope you can do some more like "The Carnival is Over" and "Georgy Girl" they were very big in Aust, and England anyway keep up the good work, your the Harri best, cheers from Melb,Australia.🇦🇺

You're right about the perspective of love being different in those days. It's as if people's minds are winning over their hearts today. Pre-nuptial agreements say it all for me.

I'm glad you got to The Seekers. When we sing this one we introduce it as The Lonesome Ram Song, at practice anyway. :) we also do Lemon Tree and Morningtown Ride (which is a lullaby really) as well as a couple of others that escape me now. The Seekers was the first record my parents ever bought. The Seekers and Peter Paul and Mary do cover a lot of the same songs, and were the same time period.

Harri, I remember this group coming over to the UK from Australia on a liner and making a big impression on the charts and on TV shows, JUDITH DURHAM had a great voice and the group had many top 20 hits before disbanding and then their record company reformed them in the mid 70's to rename them THE NEW SEEKERS who were also quite successful with an all new line up.

This song reminds me of the days when you went to a coffee house near a college campus to hear music like this with poets and beatniks and hippies. A great era in time that I don't think we'll ever see again.

Beautiful song. Quite emotional in its message and as you say Harri the way they they express love and emotions was so much more honest

Great band. Judith's voice is a treasure. She does an amazing version of "Yesterday". They did a great cover of "Turn Turn Turn" and of "Island of Dreams". Judith also did a wonderful version of "Danny Boy".

Danny Boy is beautifully haunting by the Seekers.

The Seekers and Judith Durham have a varied catalog of music. Judith has an all A Capella album "An Acappella Experience (2009)" and includes a number of religious numbers. It's just beautiful.

Our last anniversary that my husband was alive, I played this song for him. It was our 41st year together. The lyrics were exactly what my heart wanted to say to him. He died 5 years ago and I know I’ll never find, another man like him. He was my one true love. I’m grateful for the 41 years we had together. Not all couples have that. To all of the couples reading this post, hold your loved one close and let them know everyday, how much you love them.

You're great, man! And you recognise a "master gem" when you hear one! I was 16 when this song took us all by storm in early 1965. Looking forward to your reaction to "Georgie Girl," also by the Seekers, and also to the album *Foxtrot* by Genesis. :^ )

The Seekers - my first ever concert as a 10 year old in Glasgow in 1967 - still remember bits of it to this day; pretty sure it was at the old and long gone Alhambra theatre. Great choice of song!
