I remember this fun song. The Troggs are an English garage rock band formed in 1964. Their most famous songs were "Wild Thing", "With A Girl Like You" & "Love Is All Around".
I was a preteen when this hit the air waves. It was a campy joke. But my band and every young band was performing it. Even Jimi Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz showed the world how to rock this simple song with attitude.
The Troggs along with the Kinks were consider heavy for their time. Checkout The Kinks Girl you really got me, which came out around the same time as The Troggs!
I was 9 when this came out. My older sisters always made fun of this song. Years later, a very good looking younger man used to sing this song to me when it came on the radio. Nothing ever happened, but I know I blushed hard for sure ever time it happened.
the girl group from the 70s called Fancy did a kick-a## version of this song which was a moderate hit. Other hits by the Toggs-With A Girl Like You and I Can't control Myself.
you would also like the song "96 tears", by the group "question mark and the mysterians" from this same era...a huge hit and they were still performing up to a few years ago. the lead singer goes by the name "question mark".
Nancy Sinatra, the daughter of Frank, was huge in the mid-60s with These boots are made for walkin'. And what a sexy lass! Great voice, charisma. She played in some movies.
The British Invasion.. musically 😂... After the Beatles we had a huge influx of British bands...The Monkeys were also in this time..they went on to have a show on tv... 🌿🌿🌿
this song and others were the first ones a newby guitar wannabee would learn back in the 60's. it was simple to play and anybody could sound like a pro playing just 3 chords. the same goes for many other songs of the day, such as "gloria" (the shadows of knight) and "house of the rising sun" (the animals)...everyone knew how to play.
