Great song and reaction! I agree with ITCHY that their version of I CANT HELP FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU is another great song. UB40 is a total vibe. This group is a great example of “Don’t judge the book by the cover.” White English and Welsh boys spitting reggae/calypso music, lol. Love it!!

What you call "rapping" is toasting. It can be talking rhythmically, but also often chanting in a monotone melody (like in 'Red Red Wine') by a reggae deejay over a rhythm or beat. Traditionally, the method of toasting originated from the griots of Caribbean calypso and mento traditions. The lyrics can either be improvised or pre-written. Toasting has been used in various African traditions, such as griots chanting over a drum beat, as well as in the United States and Jamaican music forms, such as ska, reggae, dancehall, and dub; it also exists in grime and hip hop coming out of the United Kingdom, which typically has a lot of Caribbean influence. Toasting is also often used in soca and bouyon music. The African American oral tradition of toasting, a mix of talking and chanting, influenced the development of MCing in US hip hop music. The combination of singing and toasting is known as singjaying: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toasting_(Jamaican_music)

Looking forward to this one and love your reactions. This great song was a cover of Neil Diamond's Red, red wine. The best UB40 song in my humble opinion is 'One in ten'.. I remember when you reacted to Grandmaster Flash The message, how you felt that it told a story, it gave you a narrative of the time it was written. Similarly if you listen to UB40's One in ten, you will get a feel for what life was like in the UK in 1980/81. xx

One of my favourite memories is from 1990, sleeping on the floor of a hut in a village on the main island of Fiji - no power, no running water, etc. - and two guys walk past the hut with an old ghetto-blaster playing this song. That and the two horses that would eat outside of my hut every night farting constantly.

The video is good if you can get to see it. Those photos are not the band as they were when they recorded this one. They were very young. I loved this one back in the day and still do. I think a few people were surprised to know that this was a British band. The name UB40 comes from the name of the Unemployment Benefit form 40 people had to fill in to claim that benefit. :)

Been following you since you started the channel Recklezz. Stoked that you are finally reacting to reggae. As its been said, Bob Marley "brought the 3rd world to the 1st world" by being the messiah of reggae. But reggae existed before and after Bob. Many different styles and so many different talented artists. Here's 5 artists that represent different styles and different eras and different parts of the globe. 1) Mortimer (Jamaican), song "Lightning" 2) Lucky Dube (South African), live version of song "Its Not Easy" 3) Matisyahu (American), live acoustic version of "One Day/No Woman No Cry" medley 4) Justin Wellington (Papua New Guinean), song "In Love With U 5) The Green (Hawaiian), song "All I Need" This is just the tip of the reggae iceberg. I could easily list 100 more.

UB40 where a much more conscious band than this- this song was ok but they have some songs that really have a strong message, especially when they first came on the scene. For you Americans listen to 'Tyler' (about Gary Tyler who was jailed in 1974 in Louisiana when he was 16 years old) or 'King' (referring to Dr Martin Luther King Junior) but I have to recommend 'One in 10' as my favourite
