The live performance of this song is what made me a fan. The bassist’s vocals live are crazy! And they don’t really have one lead singer. They split the vocals.
They had a concert series in December with a live cast and I paid for a ticket and watched the show. Jooyeon is the bassist with the crazy vocals and he went OFF during the concert. Their lives are just.. *chef's kiss* You can also find a live clip of Junhan (the guitar soloist) and Gunil (the drummer) performing Phantom Razor together. They're absolutely nuts. Every one of these boys are insanely talented.
the main vocalistS is both the bassist (jooyeon) and the keyboardist with white hair (jungsu), their vocals are insane, both compliment and contrast each other's voice. rainbow hair (gaon) and the synthesizer (ode) are rapper + vocalists, amazing singers as well with amazing rap flow. the lead guitarist (junhan) at the back sings as well but rarely, most of his lines are adlibs + some short lines, then the drummer (gunil) also sings he actually usually gets proper lines in a song but not on all songs, gunil also studied in berklee college of music. very talented group
It's funny you say to show this to non kpop metal fans... I have a friend who is a musical snob (he plays guitar, and can play the drums well but guitar is his focus, & he's an ok singer) I tried showing him various songs from these guys. He admits they can play but refuses to open his super closed mind for even a second! It's so damn frustrating. You know what else he said about them? He bitched because they're too polished, he "hates that they're marketing themselves to teen girls" I was like do I look like a teen girl to you, I'm 50?! (He's also about my age) I asked what difference it makes if they're good? And I told him if he didn't think rock musicians from America don't market themselves for girls too he's crazy. I didn't even bother pointing out how sexist he's being. Ofc he also was complaining that it's in Korean. He had nothing to say when I pointed out it's not like he can understand all the words to the songs he likes either, not off the bat anyway. I ended up calling him closed minded and shallow AF and told him I'm not gonna bother sharing music with him anymore. Our friendship is pretty much over tho, so idc if he likes them or not anymore. (For the record I'm not *just* ending the friendship over music, he gaslit me when I told him I recently discovered I was on the autism spectrum, he's judgey AF obvs, etc. He was our bff when my husband was alive but since he died last year I've realized I have 0 in common with him) sry, this was all too much info no one cares about lol, but clearly I needed to vent 😂 thx for listening anyone who reads this haha 💜
@JohnReavesLive they have live performances of almost all of their music, but they also have amazing covers! my personal favorites are hellevator by stray kids and impossible by nothing but thieves. an original I adore is test me, and they did a live performance of it on the it's live channel that it's very very cool!
@@JohnReavesLivethey did a cover of the song “Tomboy” by the kpop girl group G-IDLE and the video was called “TOMBOY Band Cover”. They covered it perfectly well and an amazing performance in their own unique style! They play more instruments in that video as well.
@@JohnReavesLive Hey, John! You can check out Knockdown next. Here are the links for their live performances (One is the live studio and the other is from the Seoul music festival): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q3i7abAl0EA.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4mvt_CFBlUo.html This one is the lyrics if you need it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GMB5l0X1Eww.html And here is a bonus if you wanna watch them practice without vocals, which I believe you would appreciate: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KhOpL96I0hg.html I suggest diving into all of their songs on their first mini album which is Hello, world! And then do Overload, their second mini album. And of course their covers too as mentioned by the rest here 😁
@@JohnReavesLive I second all the suggestions for their covers, they're really good at arranging the songs to fit their style while keeping the soul of the original. I'm very partial to Tomboy, originally by a girl group called G-Idle. Sometimes girl group covers by boy bands can get jokey, but XH treat the song seriously and absolutely smash it. For live performances with an audience, there are stage videos for pretty much all their original songs out there because their discography is still pretty small. Since you liked Strawberry Cake so much I'd recommend this live version from a comback stage they did last year, it's truly wild to see how powerful Jooyeon's (the bassist) vocals are live: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lRQnC2Vxfeo.html
I've been waiting for more Xdinary Heroes and Strawberry Cake is probably my favorite song of theirs. I don't consider myself part of the fandom but I am Stay(Stray Kids) and their cover of Hellevator is awesome. For songs of theirs I only know a few but I really like Sucker Punch and Test Me.
Yay I'm so happy for more XH! I HIGHLY recommend you check out their cover of Tomboy! Also that's exactly what happened with me and my partner. I love kpop and metal, and he likes metal (and jazz). I showed him XH and he LOVES them now. Success!
You should see them when they aren’t playing, total nerds! Very nice kids. And Chris and Han from stray kids try that “strawberry cake” line- they are impressed with Jooyeon’s range. They cover “hellevator” stray kids song. Please watch it- it’s great😊
I’m happy you nerded out. Well said. Moderation & placement are important. An example for me would be Free Bird. I honestly cut the sing off at the end before the unending instrumental. I LOVE music but I just can’t. Anywhoooo - thanks for sharing Xdinary Hereos. They are very much underrated. All Villians help me manifest that they get the chance for an actual world tour. 🙏
Yes!! My favorite song on the album!! It’s so good!! And I definitely agree about the guitar solo! It was perfectly placed in the song! But if you really like this band, I recommend checking out day6! They’re at the same label as this band. And song recommendations: I wait, how can I say, shoot me, and zombie from their Korean discography. They also have really good Japanese discography as well :)
Im a long time metal/emo/ rock listener and i got into XDH through their drown cover and i literally started being a fan and it leads me to discover SKZ, and now im stock in the rabbit hole, not planning to get out tho. Thank you for reacting to the boys, their having a comback in april
I just now heard their song, Good Enough, and I'm blown away. It's a beautiful heart-tugging ballad. This video: The ONLY Live K-pop B side performance! 🎶 Xdinary Heroes - Good enough | B side Live
The cool thing about that subway is, that Im pretty sure its the same one in which Congratulations by Day6 (edit: their debut) was filmed - their seniors and the only other band under the label....
I would die from happiness If u will check out Day6 too :) they're Xdinary Heroes seniors, band from JYP (band, not a group). Theirs music is a little more lighter than XH but always has a deeper meaning.
this is probably the first honest reaction of someone to xh. i have the impression that, as a rule, people reacting to xh firstly prefer a light sound, secondly don't appreciate xh that much, Kpop community thinks they sound too rocky and flashy and metal people think they are too delicate (?) for me it doesn't make sense, this group is great and makes very versatile music. they don't sound the same all the time. in addition, they are evidently developing and this was actually their debut
