First time in a whitewater kayak - Jessup's Mill Section Dan River

I finally get to paddle with Austin Wallis of Side Trail Adventures RU-vid Channel on his debut whitewater kayaking adventure. We head up to the Jessup's Mill Section of the Dan River where we meet the Crossed Paddles crew, James and Dena, Guy and Evan, Kyle, Adam and Uncle Kevin. The river was flowing at 224 cfs. After the run, James, Dena, Austin and I went to catch the Kibler Valley Section after the race day. We just missed the release but ran it anyway. A little ELF run at Kibler? Just sounds right! Come along for a great day of kayaking fun!

That is the proper way to pack a throw rope, just ask anyone (me) who has done it wrong, went to toss out their rope, and was disappointed by the fact that it went a whole 5 feet.

@@RiverKingsKayak I paddle the most in Contentnea Creek, but I fish in the Fall season on Bay River and its tributaries (which flows into the Pamlico Sound) Sometimes fish the Neuse River near New Bern. Have kayaked the Neuse from Goldsboro to Kinston.

YIKES!! Thanks for the heads up! RU-vid has changed some aspects of advertising. I have never enabled mid-roll ads, however, the new default setting is to throw one in their every 8 minutes. LOL. How annoying. I never see those when I preview and had no idea that was happening. I have just now changed that setting. Sneaky RU-vid. Thanks again Ranger77! Sorry for the aggrevation!

Fyi, I just spent an hour individually resetting all 225 videos of mine as RU-vid went back and retroactively changed my add settings! They put out a bulletin about mid-roll ads and since I don't use them I never paid attention to it. Since I didn't respond by July 27th they went and changed all of the ads settings on my videos. How annoying! I just want to say thanks again for letting me know!

@@RiverKingsKayak I really do appreciate your attention and I hope my initial comment didn't come off rude or condescending because that wasn't my goal or intent. RU-vid has been getting nutty with all the non stop ads. I'm all for the ads to generate some revenue for the channel but their new format is excessive. Thanks again and happy paddling!

@@Ranger_k16 no! I really appreciated that! I hate when a video gets interrupted with a mid-roll ad! I'm always trying to put out videos and advertising that I wouldn't mind watching myself. You are the only one that let me know.

You know everyone was having a good time if they were getting Jiggy with it on the Dan. The Kibler looked like a lot of hard work though. Enjoyed the video as always Pete!

thanks for sharing, that scenery is nice just like other video you shared of the Dan, and that elf run made for some boney/rocky challenges at times, but you guys did good

At what level is this (Upper Section from Power Plant) recommended (in terms of kw)? Also, is there any other better way to check releases other than calling the power plant?

7500 min, 9000 better, even more is better...You just have to call them.
