the modern areas in cebu are cebu business park as well as IT park, also theres lots you can see in the mountains of cebu city like temple of leah, sirao flower farm and TOPS viewpoint, a different perspective of the city.

Mallungay = Moringa (Its originally from the steps of Himalayas and Indian border) Its actually a vegetables, it's the green kale of the Philippines 2.0 It's highly probable every house in the Philippines would probably have at least one moringa tree. In Africa the locals calls it Doctor Moringa because it cures a lot of illness, helps pregnant women boost milk production and its loaded with nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Moringa is a tree and is also called the miracle tree in India and some part of the world. Every part of the tree can be used for something, even the roots can be use to purified water. Hope that helps.. 👍

For a more modern side of Cebu City, do visit Ayala Mall in Cebu Business Park and Sugbo Mercado in I.T. Park. If you're interested in seeing a breathtaking view of Cebu from the mountaintops, try the Tops lookout of Cebu. A few minutes away is the Temple of Leah, a Greek-inspired temple. I hope you'll have a memorable experience here in Cebu City.

Malunggay or Moringa is rich in antioxidants and is anti-inflammatory and has other great benefits. Did not know they made juice from it, only tried in soup, probably has it in tea as well.

If you folks return to Manila before leaving the country, you should see Intramuros and Fort Santiago. There's a lot of history there, especially for Manila and the Philippines in general.

About Cebu City, you get points for honesty. (But did you really like the vegan food?)

If you still in cebu city try yakski barbecue at capitol, if you have time go to santa fe bantayan north of cebu to get there go to north bus terminal @ mandaue city then take bus to hagnaya port then boat to santa fe bantayan and also malapascua island from there you take a boat to kalanggaman sandbar island or go to camuigin island or maybe manjuyod sandbar dumaguete. Balabac island el nido, coron.

Further north, you would have wandered into the more modern sections of the Business Park and the IT Park further up. Do you think Cebu City and Cebu islands is safe for solo female traveler from USA? Would I be able to walk down the street alone in Cebu city?

I suggest that you visit the heritage town of Vigan a UNESCO world heritage city located in Ilocos Sur northern part of the Philippines. It's like transporting you back during the Spanish era and you'll feel like somewhere in Latin America and if you have time still try to visit Vitalis Villas and you'll feel like you are in Santorini.
