I’ve been to Italy. The summer of 2017. A Rick Steves “My Way” Alpine Europe tour. 7 countries in 12 days. Hotels provided, bus from the different countries and a tour guid recommending things to do and then the rest was up to us how to individually spend our time at each place. Italy was the first place. We got like a day and a half there and it was really fun. The whole trip was, though. Italian food is my favorite. Cheese is my favorite food and I’m a huge pasta and pizza fan. Btw, one thing I wish I had done on my trip was go to local record stores. I bet they have some unique stuff that is hard to get in the US. My advice to you would be to not pass up on an opportunity to do that.
If you all are up for a drive...head up the west coast to Albinia and then over to Saturnia springs and Pitigliano. We spent two weeks in Semproniano (really nice small town and they have great homes to stay in throughout the town) and we ventured out everyday from there to different surrounding villages...Roccalbegna is beautiful. A soak in the Saturnia hot springs by day and dinner in Pitigliano at night would be my recommendation. Try a search and have a look at the two.
Italy is so beautiful. It's so beautiful that you don't even have to try to compose your photos. They compose themselves. Around every corner, down every street is a beautiful view to photograph. And the churches, palazzos and piazzas are so lovely they leave you without words. I've been there twice. Two weeks in Rome (2018) and two weeks in Venice (2022). If you can, take day trips to other cities. Take the train. It's great and you'll see lots of Italy and meet lots of Italians that way. I hope you have a really good time.
When I was in the Navy I was stationed in Sicily for 2 years. I’ve also made numerous port visits to Naples and took a tour of Rome. I sure do miss the Italian hospitality and their food.
Honestly, I was born in Rome city, I left this town years ago and I can't remember such a calm and polite lunch like this, often roman people are more and more aloud! But it's such a surprise watching you in Rome city, it's a pleasure, you're a truly good good man!! Cheers!!

My husband and I also visited Rome and Florence in June of 2019 and spent time in Tuscany for his sister’s wedding venue. We’re also hoping to return one day to beautiful Italia!❤
Florence was my favorite city on our trip. Rome second. Still remember running across back streets in Florence from the hotel to one of the few Irish pubs using Google maps with my wife late to catch a big Liverpool match live. Good people at the pub from locals and students to several other tourists, some from the States. One of my other favorite days was the tour, lunch and wine tasting at the Verrazano family winery. Outstanding!
The dinner looked fabulous! I suppose that you didn't know Italians dinners are served with several courses. Everyone being generous and having a good time over the family dinner.🥰

Rome is my favorite city that I have ever visited. The food there is beyond compare... You are blessed to have family there. What an amazing city... take the time to see all that you can. One day my ex wife and I just walked around the city checking out all the churches and the sites we could see... when you go to the Piazza di Spagna aka the Spanish Steps there is an amazing Ristorante to the right off the 1st landing... of course any Ristorante there is better than any place here in the states. If you haven't already had limoncello then you need to while you are there... Enjoy your trip my friend, soak it all in! There is no place in the world like the Eternal City... go see a soccer game AS Roma if you can, they are the team of Rome. I will be looking forward to seeing your vids... ah there's the limoncello!!!

yeah I've done Hawaii twice and loved it. Also done West Cosst U.S., low budget cruise to Bahamas and then Key West FL, and Portugal. Travel is only good with the people you love. Peace dude and yall have a great time!

I loved Rome. So much history. If you go to Mt. Etna bring a sweater or jacket. Gets cold up there. The Vatican and Chapel are amazing. The Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. And of course the Coliseum. The quaint little town of Taormina in Sicily is worth visiting. Have fun guys. 👍🏼
I lived in Italy for 4 years. You aren't far from a place called San Marino. If you have a chance you should check it out. Its a country inside of Italy. The world's smallest republic. Its actually a castle complex on top of a hill. Another place that is cool is a town up north called Marostica. They reenact a human chess game every weekend. The story goes that back in the 1400s a king wanted to marry his daughter off. The king's from two other provinces each had a son that wanted to marry her. So, they held a chess game to see who would marry her. So that the residents could see what was going on, they had a huge chess board made of marble placed in the ground. Then they had real people act out the chess moves. If a piece was taken, the person died. Now they just get whacked with a wood sword. If you are thinking of going to Verona to see the real Romeo and Juliette stuff, don't bother. You can take a picture of her balcony, but that's it. And her "tomb" looks like an empty concrete bathtub.
Romeo & Juliet didn't even exist, it's literature, but Verona worth it way more than Romeo & Juliet stuff I don't think they reenact every weekend in Marostica, it's such a big event, from what I know it's like once a year, and that's a scenario, from a legend as well. Each time they choose a different famous gameplay in chess history as screenplay for the match

On how I envy you there in Rome. I was there in 1960 ( I was only 12) but it is a city I will never forget. You got quite an introduction to real Italian food ( it was like a Sunday [never ending] dinner) Mangia! Enjoy every minute of your trip. Can't wait to see all of your videos.

Jamel, thank you for taking the time to film this, in reality, it makes me cry for the fact that I was born in Rome, 64 years ago, 40 of those has been on the States, that's every visit when I go and see my cousins, Mom and Dad are gone, lost them 6 years ago, RIP. She showed a bottle of Mirto, from Sardegna, be careful with that one, ha ha. I know because my Mom is from the island of Sardegna, that originated the Mirto. Welcome to the Belpaese! How did you end up in Italy? I am originally from Italy, but now live in New YORK. Rome has great food. Make sure to have Pasta AMATRICIANA, CACIO E PEPE and CARBONARA! There's a restaurant called Nannarella, which makes those dishes and it's one of the best places in Rome, and not very expensive. Ciao e buon divertimento. 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

Torta Rostica! Very modern apartment. I’d put an acoustic guitar in the living room and a weed plant on the balcony and charge a little more. Have a great time and send us some Coliseums and ancient Roman ruins. And learn some conversational Italian per favore!
I've been to a few places in Asia but never to Europe so this is a real treat to see it through your eyes. I already watched Day 2 and 3, so I am excited to experience more with you and your family. This is a wonderful way to visit Italy when mobility isn't on the agenda anymore for some of us. This reminds me of when we came back from 4 years in Tripoli, Libya, Africa (my dad was in the Air Force) and we stopped off in Spain. We hadn't been able to have tomatoes for all that time, so guess what I wanted? Tomatoes!! Boy, were those Spanish tomatoes good! Will you guys be going to Vatican City while in Rome, Jamel? Italian coffee is strong because of all the caffeine. That's why the cup is so small.
As you flew in to Rome, it definately looked like the eternal city, loving your holiday video's, working through them....they also made me think of your song review video's of Nessun dorma by Luciano Pavarotti, and Time to Say Goodbye by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman which I had to go and watch again many times over.

That yellow drink you had resembles the lemonchello liquor beverage, I never had it, but I have seen it when we ventured off in Sorrento Italy during a tour to Pompeii, Italy. We just got back last week. Be very careful of your belongings as if you don’t know that already. My wife had her purse stolen at the Rome airport right after we arrived. Italy is a great destination to visit.
So great that your first day was with your italian family. Family lunch, homemade liquor, the love of family all around. Let me tell you, that is a privilege allowed to a very few.

Welcome to Europe ! Why don't you come to Paris one day ? I'va been in Rome a few times many years ago. A city i love because of all the roman monuments (we have a lot of that in France too).
