Ayala is walkable from end to end ! You cross to the other side via underpasses. You walk the length of Ayala on street level or via elevated walkways. Malls in the commercial center are interconnected. There are parks and trees and greenery everywhere! Enjoy your stay.

I beg to disagree. Bangkok is way humid than Manila. Bangkok is 150 km from Gulf of Siam whilst Makati is 6-7 km away. There's so much breeze and coolness within Metro Manila because it is surrounded by Manila bay and Sierra Madre, a mountain chain that cools the capital. Manila does not have air issue or poor quality as evidence of blue skies 365 days a year. Unlike Bangkok and other capitals of SE where slash and burning is an issue during summer time. I been to Bangkok 18 times and all over SE and it is always the poor air quality of air that makes me wear those mask and avoid these cities at this time of the year. BTW, Makati a subway opening up soon. you should visit Ayala museum and see all those pre Hispanic gold of the Philippines dated in 9th CE. sadly the Tara gold is currently located in Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. Greetings from Seattle, USA
@rebornabroad
@rebornabroad Год назад
Seattle people, of course lol 😆 😂 🤣 😅 😌 🙃 😆 I was for a few days not long enough to say anything, besides my anecdotal experience. Thanks for the suggestion on the museum. I have been living in SEA for around 10 years, but it's the first time I have had a chance to take a look at the Philippines. Bangkok, you go from air-conditioned metro to air-conditioned mall. So that might explain it. 🤔 brush yo teef 🪥 I have no experience with the Philippines, but I do have experience keeping my teeth 😬 clean. I feel it, though I can see why Manila has a lot of value. So does Colgate

You should check the new map, Bangkok is next to the Gulf of Thailand. Bangkok has bad weather during the rice farming season because the wind blows from the east. Cambodia is a country that burns almost the entire country for farming and those winds blow up and reach Bangkok for a short period of time. Any other Your Makati Subway has not even been built yet.
@rebornabroad
@rebornabroad Год назад
@user-bs4vb8vh6m I have lived in both Cambodia and Bangkok many years. Yes, pollution is not great. it's still better. Still better food, transportation, and access to one of the best international airports in Asia. You should look at a map. The Philippines is isolated, expensive(for what it is), and remote. Cambodia, despite its past, is awesome. Maybe instead of looking at a map, you should ask why so many of your own countrymen live in Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, or a million other places overseas. If it's sooooo amazing???? I am sure there are other parts of the Philippines that are cool, but let's not kid ourselves here, lol 😆 Bangkok < Manila. The tourist numbers speak for themselves. They can charge thousands to expats looking for long-term visas. You need to give away visas to attract people. Case and point 👉

Makati was the first to develop in the 50s while the neighboring countries were still poor and full of slums. Makati was their benchmark in those days. Singapore was a big slum up until the early 70s. Bangkok Jakarta KL were all in their infancy. Glad you're enjoying Makati.
@rebornabroad
@rebornabroad Год назад
Singapore definitely boomed, but due to open banking, they made the country highly attractive to investors and individuals with wealth. One of the main things that holds back a lot of SEA is hyper protectionist laws and government bureaucracy.

Singapore imported talent from all over the world to make SG what it is today. It started with nothing and in fact, Lee Kwan Yew patterned several of his ideas from Ferdinand E Marcos, whom he idolized, then criticized, hahaha. Singapore cannot do without imported talent. That's the way it grew and succeeded and made itself rich. @@rebornabroad

If talking about business district development Bangkok has the Ratchadamnoen Road area. Built more than 100 years ago by the King of Thailand. During the reign of King Rama V, he developed relationships with many European nations during the colonial era. To prevent those superpowers from seizing Thailand Using the excuse of being backward When you return to Bangkok by boat Ordered to build a road with 6 lanes on each side and build a building. and a monument modeled after the Champs Elysees in Paris, France ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-snGq-wpQqGQ.htmlsi=6adarlimeiNDJToU

In fact, Manila Roxas Blvd and the vast area in those days was actually originally and designed by Burnham, the American urban planner and architect who also planned Washington DC. Baguio City was also planned by Burnham, hence, the Burnham Park, in his honor. Sadly politicians over the years neglected and disrespected the urban planning Burnham introduced. Manila was beautiful in the 50s and 60s. It already had electric trams over 100 years ago but WW2 destroyed the whole of Old Manila. Still, had you come and visited Manila Hotel, one of the oldest hotels in Asia, you'd have seen the quarters of the Douglas McArthur residence right in Manila Hotel. That hotel also was the first in Asia to have refrigeration. It was the most advanced already in the Far East and Asia. Manila is now being re-urbanised, smartened up and re-developed and in a couple of years, will have the subway operating in and around Metro Manila and suburbs. It is now 33% done. @@rebornabroad

Felt really fake and artificial. The only place I liked was Intramuros. Wrong about the squatters in Manhattan, though thr liberals have brought in all the asylum seekers, and now there are people living in parks and under bridges. 100k refugees just showed up not long ago. So yes, it's not a slum like the Philippines, but it's certainly on its way under the current leadership.

@@rebornabroad seen in some places but these r controlled asylum seekers unlike the Makati squatters which r surrounding the whole city Adams had some reserved places for the asylum sicko - Roosevelt Hotel, Randall’s etc Unlike the dilapidated Makati slums pooing in the Pasig River, eating recycled food right out of the dump Can’t beat that!!!

@DoniCato sure but it's definitely not a good direction. I watched them ruin nyc. It used to be a lot different in the 90s.
