Agree that it offers the Singapore vibe BUT $20.00 will not get you far or anywhere so to speak in Singapore. Furthermore, you certainly will not get warmth and hospitality that is commonplace not only in Makati but everywhere in the Philippines!
I want to play Devils Advocate and contradict your observations. But don’t want to sound negative. Still I do enjoy ur videos. Thank you and hope u don’t get mad at be for contradicting ur observation. Just want people to be ready for Manila and how wonderful it really is. Perfect ? No, but almost
Oh I miss Makati already. I worked there for almost 4 years. When I get bored. I just walk around late afternoon or at night. I was there last October 2022. Too bad it rained so often (it was a stormy week). Greetings from 🇩🇪 😊
@@JohanFitFoodie germany is also good. I just dont like winter time. Its too cold for me. Gadgets are a bit expensive. Thats a great goal relocating in north asia. The branded gadgets and clothing even shoes are cheaper there than here in germany. And internet is also cheap.
The way you guys do that $20 challenge is great I mean for what you spent you could go back and do it all over again $20 would never go that far in the states maybe unless you're eating from the taco trucks which is not bad thank you guys.
It depends where you are situated in Makati and BGC. I’ve lived in both cities and i find Legazpi Makati to be more quite. Prices in both cities are similar and offer almost a direct price for each preference.
Did your friend get a perm for the recap?😁 Love Ensamadas, but I'm used to just butter and sugar. I notice that in the Philippines they like cheese on top.
O the disappointment 😑😮💨 You guys didn't even mention Andok's Chicken. How could you? 😛 (Jokes aside, I tried Andok's, got hooked - needed the protein, you understand:)) then I heard about Rat-Problems\droppings, and I remembered I often felt a bit queasy after one of their roasted chickens). As a person who workout a lot and protein means a lot to me, it was hard to eat out in the Phils; that's why I rent condos in order to shop for all the meats\chicken and fish I like, and other local ingrediencies, sweet potato - mmmmmyummy - and yams, *GOOD FOOD* 💪😆that's what I'm talking about. I like home cooking. When I buy chicken from places like Jollibee I always found that I was being conned, lots of skin and fat hidden under lovely golden batter with zero nutritional value; they rip you off like that. I don't eat skin and fat, I want CHICKEN FLESH 😋 Many other places I ate at in the Phils employed the same trick. You get more for your money if you're *Savvy* in the kitchen and like home cooking - like me.
I just cook at home as well. I wouldn't say they rip you off at restaurants, just the taste experience isn't the same. It's hard to adjust to the fat levels of the meat served in restaurants here.
@@manilamartin1001 Because I workout a lot, when I travel to the Phils I often look for protein-rich foods, and often I find the fried chicken is deceptive, it turns out to be mostly batter wrapped around lots of inedible pieces, or skin and bone and fat, which aren't edible at all; it's hardly ever chicken flesh itself wrapped in batter, but it's more bits and pieces of stuff you can't really eat wrapped in batter; hence I said it's really a ripoff, no way is this accidental.

Great video of information guys , I just returned from Manila and I'm looking forward to going back to the Philippines try other areas I had a excellent time I tested my budget $35 lasted from Monday when I arrived till Friday, loved it.
I'm just a photographer here but it seems that your social circle is strongly connected to your business circle. I suggest joining a rotary club or if you like expats you can join the Manila Club for brits or Elks club for American.
Depends on the type and scale of business. Most corporations here follows international standards, mostly adapted from US. Of course, large chunk of the standards are pro Filipinos in terms of culture, labor laws (13th month pay, Christmas holidays, local fiesta, etc.). In day to day interaction, smile is a must or you'll never get that "suki" back. Foreigners are only allowed up to 40% shares of the company. These are just few of the many unique points in business here in PH.
@@rainshower3173 There are many types of businesses where foreigners can own 100% in the Phils. For those who are thinking of setting up a business in the Phils. please do a quick google.
Ohhh… I used to live and work in makati. The Jollieep is a life saver for me all the time. That’s why I love Makati more than BGC. Because of the Jollijeep 😅
Good luck to having only $20 here in Ca. And you guys only spent half of your budget. The other day I decided to be out all day on my day off and just a mere 3 hrs. into it, I've already spent 50 + bucks. By the end of the day, my pocket was so exhausted....lol!!!🤣 Great info, Evan! Thank you.
Oh no! Please stop telling people about Makati! I wanted to it to keep it a secret! Salcedo Village is my home in the Philippines so Legaspi is just across my village x
nice perm yaw I enjoyed this video. I smashed like. Turned on post notifications I am educated Everyone reading this comment do the same!!! Best decisionof ur life
Calamansi! Yes, it’s the Filipino version of a lime. Very versatile for it’s size. I love, love, love Calamansi juice. Planted it here in San Diego, bountiful harvest throughout the year, so I get to enjoy it all year long and even share it with family and friends. Prefer the weather here though!
@@renealcid6708 Calif weather is hard to beat, I used to live 15 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, would you be willing to share a few calamansi? ...........hmmm it might be a bit of a drive since I live in Boston

Dang Brenton... Honestly at a loss for words, that means a lot! We put a lot of effort into this video so we appreciate your support a ton. Thanks man God bless.
I like the fact that you concentrate on things a decent person would do in the Phillippines. Too many channels concentrate on the "ladies" of the Philippines. But I also notice too damned many people wearing masks. That makes me nervous about moving there.
Most of the locals continue to mask because it makes them feel safer; it’s a cultural thing. Ever since the president made mask-wearing optional both indoors and outdoors (with basically only hospitals excepted), I’ve not worn a mask anywhere - nor have I been asked to do so.
I've always been put off by how many vlog channels here make Filipina bait videos... This channel is directed towards people who primarily want to move to the Philippines for the country itself, not for the dating scene. As for the masks, they're not strict at all anymore.
I think it’s an Asian thing … even in Japan, Thailand, south Korea, etc. face mask is voluntary but many Asians like to wear it. I don’t except in hospitals and clinics.

@@TheSavvyExpat nice. New subscriber here….. i miss my cousins in the US… they will visit PH in February next year… they grew up there but like it here. 😊😊
Nice video Evan! How about some "fun" videos of costs for things that young people like to do (or old people like me who like to do fun active things). This can be such as going to a nice movie theatre and looking at the costs associated with both the movies and concessions; active events such as night markets, go-carting, zip lines, driving a race car :D. Not sure what kind of budget you have, but consider things for an active lifestyle. I look forward to your future videos!
So Im visiting PI in a few weeks but I'm afraid to try street food cause im prone to getting food poisoning. I was wondering if yall had any problems trying street food?
Do you have any videos covering health insurance? Many federal employees looking for cheaper options outside the country once retired due to smaller pension. Most have Blue Cross Blue Shield. Any hospitals take this insurance?
@@yaw8176 maybe you should create a video talking about insurance options for expats. Visit several major hospitals from round Manila and list the insurance they accept. Now that would be useful to expats. Not like majority of your subscribers are young and retired. The most major concern retired expats has is health and their options.
