I don't care for this video as it is too distracting to the music, and too many reactors pay too much attention to it, and it has little to do with the song.
Thay are British band more to do with the second world war that generation was close to the generation fathers and mothers and grandad s who fought it's all anti war
Seeing the emotional response you two had during this song actually brought tears to my eyes. I am so sorry what you have been going through. Please stay safe. This world is so much better with you guys around. Peace to you.
I would agree in regards to the live performances, but for those hearing this song for the first time, I think this is the best place to start. As it enhances the song as it brings the lyrics front and center, when you have kick-ass live performances, sometimes that may get lost in the musicianship(I normally can't focus on anything past Bill Ward killing those drums). LOL
BLACK SABBATH - "War Pigs" (Live Video) 16M views 9 years ago Black Sabbath Black Sabbath performing "War Pigs" live at the Olympia Theater in Paris, France on December 20, 1970
Stay safe! This song is as important today as it was back then ... The "War Machine" is strong out there. We need people to listen and learn ... small steps help. I am a Veteran and while I was prepared to go to war ... I never wanted to. I know you two react to Ren ... in his tribute "Eden" he had three lines that struck me How many soldiers have been forced to fight in meaningless wars? How many humans have killed for ideals they don't believe in or understand? How many people have died to the greed of another man? Much Love ❤!
My favorite band since I was 14 years old. Now 72 and still love them. In this day and age with the various music genres out there I sincerely thank you for reacting to this classic. Black Sabbath to many is the godfathers to heavy metal. This band Iommi, Osbourne, Ward, and Butler are all looked up to by just about every band of the past 50+ years. Thank you again for the reaction!!
They are the originators of heavy metal. While their earlier work doesn't sound as 'heavy' to modern ears, all 'metal' traces its roots back to Black Sabbath. In 1970, this sounded really heavy.
Black Sabbath invented Heavy in 1970. Everything since has come from them. Full stop. They continued, to create fantastic music for 5 decades, that was fantastic.
Just as information for "younger folks" I would say, that most people, who grew up listening to this music was indeed LISTENING to it, since music videos rarely existed. This kind of music was rarely on TV anyway!. We all "created" each our own images in our brains listening to this!? I do not recall having ever seen a video of this! I was 15 in 1970 btw!
I feel privileged that you two shared this reaction with us. I have thought of you both a few times when I turn on the radio or tv and hear about more war and more suffering of the many at the hands of the few. I love my homeland but at the same time I know we are often part of the problem and not the solution and for that I'm ashamed. I don't know what to say, the pain in your eyes levees me speechless. Stay safe.
The birth of heavy metal, way sooner than most folks suspected. 1969. This is your rock & roll history, kids. 50 years later, you're like, what? Yeah, that's what.
The video is a fan made one, put on You Tube by Gabrielle Marie in 2014. She took a 2009 German film "Motherland" and set it to the song. You'll find it at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mpk7xgCXmOY.html.
Metallica's "Disposable Heroes" is insanely great anti war song from a soldier/generals perspective. Different than these songs u've done. But a powerful song.
i was born 1969 , by the time i was 11 years old , i was listening to Black Sabbath , Deep Purple , Hawkwind , when motorhead Lemmy R.i p was base player for hawkwind before he started motohead thank you for the flash back to a time in my life when things were more simple, i hope you are protected stay as safe as you can xxxx
Ya know, one of the masterpieces on The Yes Album (1971) was an antiwar song with a different focus...on the madness of war while expressing sympathy for the young American draftees who were sent to Vietnam through no choice of their own: *Yours Is No Disgrace* (on the same album as Perpetual Change). It actually has a very upbeat rhythm & melody
A lot of songs came out in the late '60's and early '70's. A really good one came out by Pink Floyd called 'Us and Them' if you'd like to check it out. Great reaction!
Anti-war music in the late 60s and early 70s could be heard in hard rock, folk, blues, motown and other genres and, whether or not it's had an impact on war, it surely had an affect on those of us who listened to this music. I was deeply affected by these songs. They had a profound affect on me and I'm happy to not be the type of person who remains naive to the fact that, every day, people are dying somewhere in the world because of a war they never chose. Check out "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield, "We Can Be Together" by Jefferson Airplane, "Ohio" by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young ( Neil Young wrote this, Stephen Stills wrote the previous song), "Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, "Peace Train" by Cat Steven's (Yusuf Islam), "US and Them" by Pink Floyd, "Scarborough Fair/Canticle", an 17th century English ballad juxtaposed with an anti-war folk song performed by Simon and Garfunkel (The juxtaposition here always makes me think of The Deerhunter), so many more. An endless rabbithole of amazing music.
Perfect song for today's world... Happy you guys are ok. I think about you all the time and it makes me sad to see such nice people being to close to such madness. Elie, we are trusting you with the safety of a dear soul, Carol. Please be careful. 🙏🙏
*20 year-olds writing these lyrics in 1970 is amazing and sad at the same time* If you appreciated *War Pigs* you may too love fellow Canadian *"BRUCE COCKBURN - If I Had A Rocket Launcher"* Canadians not known for their rage, but reflects his very personal experience that uncivilized rage that says it's okay to go out and shoot some one.
"They leave peril to the poor." It took me a long time to figure out that aspect of the song. So true. I am in the U.S. and I don't want to get political, but it makes my heart sick to see what is happening between Israel, the Palestinians, and spreading into Lebanon and Iran. It seems new leadership is needed all around, leadership that prioritizes the lives of the people, not grasping for power. Please stay safe. And a suggestion: if you haven't already reacted to "Ohio" by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, check it out. It's a powerful song.
This song is 54yrs old , 2yrs older than me . I'm a fan of this band , I Love you guys as well . Please check out the live version and not the AI version . Peace and Love from the UK
This song was written in protest to the Vietnam War and all wars in general.. In protest to the Military Industrial Complex, Peace may be with both of you 🙏🙏🙏
I am glad to see you are both well and safe. I am not sure whether you will like this but I would recommend a song by Sepultura called Territory. The music may be too heavy for you but I think you will find the video and lyrics interesting. Take care.
You mentioned corrupt politicians and I just wanted to say that I think that the government is not corrupt in that it can be fixed, government is corruption itself. And I love you both and wish you peace.
For one how have you not heard of Black Sabbath before though I am from Brum (Birmingham) and two what a beautiful reaction Wars are only thought by the rich and powerful and the people that suffer for it are never heard Even this day and age with all our tech Bloody Money talks and side team you're on.
Because you are new to the genre, this is an excellent place to start. Black Sabbath is firmly rooted in the Blues which came from North America and migrated over to Britain then was morphed through bands like cream and Led Zeppelin into what you would consider psychedelic Rock and the foundations of hard rock..... Black Sabbath took those same roots and made it much darker and became the initial building blocks of what was to become heavy metal. This is pretty much the roots of the genre right here
The beginnings of heavy metal, Guns n Roses have a similar song CIVIL WAR which like War Pigs gets straight to the point, Love it when these no nonsense rock bands shove it in the face of politicians
Have you guys seen the video that Disturbed made of their cover of Land of Confusion (originally by Genesis)? It might be worth your while, although you might want to do something that is the opposite of the chaos around us...something sweet and hopeful. Hang in there and stay human! :)
Keep up the optimism guys, youre awesome and such nice people. Also...Check out Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones and/or Baba O'Riley by The Who for more anti-war songs. Both have good videos to go along with them
Black Sabbath's "Hand of Doom" is an amazing song about the aftereffects of war, and so is "Child in Time" by Deep Purple. You might want to check out Megadeth's "Symphony of Destruction" as well as Metallica's "Disposable Heroes", which was my squads theme song during the first Gulf War. Yes, I got myself caught up in all of that crap, like a mercenary for big business.
A lot of people don't like this video because it's not original to the music I have no problem with it. I think it was well done and brings up the dark themes that war brings You two are lovely people
“I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.” ~Major-General Smedley Darlington Butler (July 30, 1881 - June 21, 1940) At the time of his death, Butler was the most decorated Marine in U.S. military history.
It's such a great song. it's just a shame that it is still so relevant. I really hate what you guys are going through in the Middle East. 😔 On a lighter note, Black Sabbath are considered among the 3 founding bands or Heavy Metal, the others being Led Zeppelin & Deep Purple. Great reaction guy's. 🇬🇧🤝🏻🇱🇧 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
