@@MozzarellaGirlOppa Hopefully you can go back and visit more often and they can get to know each other better. It’s difficult when there is a language barrier. Maybe your mom could visit Italy sometime, too. Micaela might be less shy on her own turf.
We want to go to Korean again after our summer vacation in Italy. But we still have to persuade Micaela's parents, especially mom is afraid that we will never come back 😂

me senti igual , senti mucha incomodidad de que no la mirase nunca a la suegra, pero hay que ver como estaria uno de nervioso como actuaria, yo tambien tengo una suegra de otro pais y eso que hablamos el mismo idioma, las costumbres son diferentes y si dan nervios, pero sentia mas verguenza si no la miraba.

Very blessed to have such a warm mother in law. The language barrier is hard for sure - I understand. I learnt Chinese mandarin for 4 years and I came to meet my girlfriends parents finally but they speak a dialect which is almost completely indistinguishable 😂 it’s hard but where there is a will there is a way
my Egyptian mother in-law of 12 years is also great with me. Although we have language barrier,she is doing her best when we come to visit their home city and stay over for days/weeks. When i first met her mother,she greeted me with hug as if i was long lost relative who made it back home...

I don't understand why Micaela doesn't say more to her mom-in-law with Daeho translating . I know she is shy but even so; her mother-in-law was really trying very hard. Also, didn't they bring her any presents at all from Italy?? It doesn't even have to be expensive. Bring her some packaged sweets or perfume from Duty Fee or maybe Italian coffee. Anything!!
We brought my mom and all my cousins many little gifts. Just I didn’t include it in the video because I tried to edit it as speedy as I can 😆 I agree that Micaela needs to say more. It was her first time and she was too anxious. But she became better next time
It’s hard to accept gifts when you don’t want to seem greedy or spoiled. However, in some cultures not accepting the gifts is offensive. I think it’s your mother in law’s way of showing she genuinely loves you and accepts you as family. This is the time in her life that she can do this for you. Later, circumstances might change and she might not be able to for some reason. It’s clear she wants a relationship with you so just count yourself as one of the luckiest and blessed daughter in laws. I would give anything to have my mother in law still here with us. I miss everything about her. We didn’t speak the same language at first but I put my mind to learning it. We use to watch Spanish Dramas together, go shopping together, and I would translate for her at the doctor’s office. She also taught me to cook traditional dishes, so now even though she is gone I can make my husband her food. I think the phrase should be mother through law and not mother in law.
