Thanks for the review Loi! The moonboard 2016 looks like a blast and I can't wait to get my hands on it at some point! Certainly a good training tool for volume. However, nothing ever beats the 2016 due to its rich history and clasic climbs on awful holds. I think only the TB2 comes close with its excellent variaty, but I may be biased since I just build a 2016 moonboard in my garage and am loving it 🤣

I was literally using this exact moon board the other day lol. I’m new to climbing, only been a handful of times. I could barely do the first few moves on this thing, the way you make it look so easy has got me weak😂. I have gotten a couple of v5s though just not on the moodboard😎.

Agree with basically all and i really loved the new set. I just hate the many heel hooks. Or in other words: i can't stick those heels so i resort to jumps and cut loose moves which are hard😅.
@loiduongjr
@loiduongjr 2 месяца назад
haha the heels are definitely thin on the board. Call it morpho lol

Currently contemplating selling my 2024 moonboard for the TB2. Just too many tweaky holds (pockets) on the 2024. Too many pinches (which I love, but makes the variety lacking). Also the configuration makes it really difficult to set unique climbs. There's a lot of E9 to G12 movement on anything below V5/6. I dunno, I've loved the moonboard for years but after trying the TB2 more lately it just offers more variety, better (less tweaky) grips, adjustable, and actual warmups. They all have their place, but for me I'd prefer to be not injured and climbing more and I think TB2 is the way forwards (for me)
@loiduongjr
@loiduongjr 2 месяца назад
TB2 I’d say would have more variety but also there is a large lack of problems once you push past V7. If your wall isn’t adjustable your problem selection might be very limited. Since moon is only one angle there is a way higher volume of quality blocs (and I think moon does it better in general). 2019 set might be exactly what you need.
@JulianBarnett1981
@JulianBarnett1981 2 месяца назад
@@loiduongjr lack of problems is (to me) maybe just because there are fewer TB2 boards in the wild and it has a smaller community than MB. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s not like you can’t set V7+ there just aren’t as many yet - but that means whoever wants to could contribute to the community more which is perhaps a selling point 😎
@loiduongjr

@@JulianBarnett1981 yes! You can definitely take it as a pro. Personally I need that community feel!

@@JulianBarnett1981 Personally i;d think moonboard would be less injurious lol. TB2 is kinda a tension/finger diff board. At least moonboard there are other options then death crimping holds lol

I think a problem with the 2024 moonboard is that almost every hold is a jugg and the grades are just too high with like no to almost no tiny holds like i think a problem with the newer boards is that the grading is too high almost every one can do high grades and thats it! There is litteraly no hard benchmarks like on the 2019 or 2016 or 2017 edition where you need to have real finger strength and pull hard and try hard because only a 7b benchmark felt like a project on the 2019 edition nowadays almost everything is like the kilterboard and this too didn't really stood up to the hype it got, i think this should'nt even be considered a moonboard because a moonboard for my standards is a board with slopy grimps so no 2 finger deep pockets some juggs but not too many but more or less hard moves on slopers that are almost non existant or grimps that are almost non existant thats what the moonboard was supposed to be a training board for outdoor climbing, nowadays it's just putting some juggs on a wall and grading it v10+ here by i am talking about the kilterboard even do i still flashed a 7c with eaz with shirt on the moonboard 2024 which should'nt be possible because on the older moonboards most of the 7c's were insanely hard basically project like hard, so that makes no sence at all and only for the nice short feeling that you have climbed something hard even do it's probably a v4 benchmark on the older moonboards or just a v3 in fontaine bleau, what i am trying to say with this is that oldschool hard climbing was something special which still exists but really never got looked back too just once in a while, but nowadays it's just easy routes with high grades, for short it's juggs it's not hard and so it's not training, there is almost no technique anymore on kilterboard or the 2024 moonboard it's just straight pulling on juggs with high grades, there is a reason why it's called the moon board because the creator of the board trained on the moonboard for fontaine bleau or zwitserland and published the board for other people to train to climb hard too, nowadays it's just all about easy grades and almost no to no hard climbing because most of these routes are made for people who climb 6b, i don't see a future here do you?

Man using a period would help structure your comment because it’s straight up sentence gore. Could’ve just said modern boards are soft. I’m lucky to have a MB2016 and a TB2 mirror in my area - it’s all I need to train and project.

You want to say that you did all hard boulders on the kilterboard? You are hilarious... If you did all, why not create your own projects?! I bet you are just jealous about people having fun and climb better than you. You can set 9a on a kilterboard, but you are here crying like a baby...
@loiduongjr
@loiduongjr 2 месяца назад
Pretty weak response… tons of 20yo kids who only climb kilter and are better on rock than Ben Moon ever was. Really unwarranted hate. The board is great and will generate many strong climbers. There are also many thin crimps… you just sound like someone who hasn’t actually tried it…
@Thomassloosclimbing
@Thomassloosclimbing 2 месяца назад
@@loiduongjr i have tried it and trained on the kilterboard and done many 8a's and 8a+'s i have climbed for 5 years on the kilterboard right besides normal climbing so i know what i am saying, but something that i saw when i was climbing on the kilterboard is that it's good training if you want to get stronger but thats pretty much it, you will eventualy get quitte bored of the kilterboard which i had. when i first started climbing on the kilterboard it was quitte fun and i really enjoyed to climb on it, i projected some hard stuff and i was basically always in the top 3 in my home gym and still am, but eventualy i felt the same, i didn't got stronger after hard projecting stuff for years and was basically sitting on the mattres searching for routes because almost everything was the same, it was easy or really repetitive, the high grades were also unessisary if you ask me, but i was beginning to get really bored and just didn't train again for over a year, many of the people i knew and trained with since i started climbing were going to other gyms, but they all had problems with pulling on tiny holds, thats where they asked me to train on the moonboard. When i started climbing i felt my fingers but the routes were all different with each having a different way to solve, i enjoyed the moonboard more than the kilterboard i know that there are people that enjoy the kilterboard but it's getting really repetitive and most of the holds were juggs, thats why i said that i much more prefer the moonboard, also almost every strong climber in my land which are paricipating in the nationals are all training on the moonboard right besides the normal gym boulders, I have lots of respect for you and i am subscribed to your channel because i like your content but saying something quitte toxic like you did when you reacted to me without knowing if i even climbed on the kilterboard is just wrong, you just could have checked my channel and you would probably saw the kilterboard before even clicking on a video, even do i am just starting my channel up and i am still not posting much interesting stuff, i still know that i have much experience with it, you have followers and you're more populair than me and have lots of haters too but that doesn't have to mean you can say what you want about me without knowing why i even commented this in the first place, i didn't knew that about Ben Moon so thank you for that, i have my reasons to think the moonboard is better and you probably have enough reasons why the kilterboard is better and i accept that.
