Absolutely! This version is great, but the original needs to be heard. When it hit in the 90’s, it was everywhere! She’s amazing. I had the opportunity to see her in 95 and I didn’t. It’s one of my regrets. She’s on my bucket list now to see live.

This is similar to Unplugged Layla. The original is Clapton's anguished love song to George Harrison's, at the time, wife. By the time Unplugged comes along he had married and divorced "Layla". Long way of saying the original is the absolute best. You get all the raw hurt.

Jagged Little Pill is such a great album. There must have been something in the water in the 90s, because there was just an army of incredible women alternative singer/songwriters putting out amazing track after amazing track. Alanis, Fiona Apple, Liz Phair, Tracy Chapman, Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow... I could go on and on and still not list them all.

The interesting thing about Alanis is record companies tried to make her into a bubblegum teen pop star and she held out until she found a producer who was ok putting out the music she wanted with her own image. This was so crazy at that time to have this kickass Canadian girl sing about real emotions in such a raw way.

Alanis was first on You Can't Do That On Television as a child actor. The original of this song was strong, heavy, full of angst - incredibly powerful. This is a much lower-key version! Because it's about saying those things that you feel need to be said after a break up, but you're not supposed. She performed that live version of the song from a place of hurt, which is how she had originally envisioned the lament. Her producers convinced her to speed up the tempo, which made the song sound much more aggressive and angry.

Adding my voice to the choir suggesting that you check out the original version. It's so much more raw and primal, and a song like this deserves to be raw and primal.

As usual, a great reaction. Alanis' Jagged Little Pill is considered by many to be a must listen to. If you have time please give it a listen and you will see why she took the industry by storm. I call it female empowerment with a little bit of venom. Congratulations on your impressive march to 100,000. I have been with you since you were on the march to 5,000. You have been the brightest spot in the reaction field any of us have seen in a long time. I know you have been doing this for 3 months now and you already have 890 reactions. Please be careful because all of us do not want to see you get burned out because all of us look forward to your next reaction. Please refer back to my comments on Morissette's "Rise Up" for my two suggestions on KZ Tandingan and Lara Fabian. Both of these have the potential effect of making you look into your camera with that what in the hell am I hearing stare that we all love. Also check out the stunning piece of art that is Ren doing "Hi Ren'. As always please BE WELL

This song was an Anthem among women who were broken-hearted, recent breakups, etc. I once sent it to an ex bf after we broke up... mix tape style with just this song! lol Made me feel better anyway. A relationship just ended for me this morning and this reaction has inspired me to pull out this CD and crank up this song many times today. Therapy, music style!

Morissette Amon's father was a fan, so that's where her name originated. Same as with Billie Eilish, and Aerosmith - the performances on Howard's show are an interesting addition for someone already familiar with the original version. She was 21 in 1995 when this song came out, and that energetic version was impactful enough that she won the Grammy for Album of the Year. Add the original to your playlist.

Britt--this version is excellent BUT there are 2 that are even better...one is the original studio version with video AND the other is Alanis doing this live back in the day on the David Letterman show. BOTH of these are super rocking and super intense with full Rock band. You'd be blown away even more with both of those!

Apart from the musical genius that is Angelina Jordan, Alanis Morissette has been my favourite vocalist ever, whenever Alanis came to the United Kingdom I’m always there and have attended six live concerts altogether, Alanis debut Album Jagged Little Pill is the best selling debut album by a female singer 16 million copies, and to date now selling 33 million copies worldwide, Alanis a amazingly talented singer songwriter and producer, and plays guitar flute harmonica, Alanis live vocals are just phenomenal, great reaction thanks 🙏

@@saverioc2929 I love Alanis, but remind me how many songs had she recorded by 17? That's not to say Angelina's debut album will be anywhere as big as Jagged Little Pill, but the music industry has moved on from the heady days of the 90's. Albums no longer seem to be a thing, mores the pity.

The studio/album version is better in MY opinion. Granted this version was pretty damn good. The version you will hear on the album, I feel has more angst. It also has Flea(RHCP) on bass and Dave Navarro(Jane's Addiction & RHCP alum) on guitar. I know at one time, she had Taylor Hawkins(R.I.P.) as her drummer. But I do not think/believe he worked on this track or album. Anyway, GREAT reaction and this album has MANY gems. Enjoy the Alanis rabbit hole! By the way, she's from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. As am I. 🙂
