Amira is simply unbelievable! Beautiful, charismatic, always smiling from a truly joy-filled heart, enthusiastic, energetic, charming, vocally perfect, high moral values and Christian character, loving God and loving people -- these and a hundred other traits is AMIRA! By the way, this was her father Gerrit playing the organ for her! The whole family has superb musical skills!
John Battles. I agree one hundred percent with you.Add to that,Amira's humanitarian side, her 'Gelukskinders' foundation and the other charaties she supports, the latest one I think is save the Rhinos. There is so much more to Amira than this,it would take a journal to fill.Go well,From Michael Jonathan Lewis, R S A.
15 years old. She sang half a dozen songs at the concert. With this one her father Gerrit was on the organ. He joins her on a few other videos too.such as When you wish upon a star, and her latest release, Gesu Bambino, which is a real delight. There are some videos of her performing at Potchesstrom university with a set of mighty organ pipes behind, they are not uncommon in the old world, and they produce a beautiful sound. Great reaction by the way. There is a studio version of this hymn on line with really beautiful pictures flipping over as it progresses, the last handful show Amira growing from baby, through toddler, to teen. She hits the high at the end of that one too.
Hey thanks for this Andrew, i had not seen those performances at NWU in Potchefstroom SA! i have never heard that extremely high note of Vincero at the end of Nessun Dorma before! i was just blown away!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N8lzkGv1b3A.html
This girl is an incredible vocalist no matter what her age. Home Free has a great version, my second favorite behind Carrie Underwood’s, which to me is the most deeply emotional, most reverent rendition I’ve ever heard. You should check them both out. And if you ever have a chance to hear an organ like that in person, do it!
In the musical industry, stuck in the doldrums (generally speaking) of the 21st century, Amira is a breath of fresh air and a gentle wind guiding the human heart safely to port. Her parents named her appropriately, as her name means "Princess" in Arabic.
Thank you for your superb Reaction to what, for me, is the most beautiful rendering of this hymn I have heard. It was good, also to see her take the bow with her father (the organist). You might also like her more recent singing of the Lord's Prayer.
I'm late to "The Party", but if you think this was good you should hear her sing Amazing Grace (the one with the bagpipes playing). I must say you are very good at this reaction thing, you are attractive, articulate, observant, insightful and fun. You seem very comfortable talking to a microphone...almost as if you have done something professionally along those lines. If not, maybe you should! Keep "The Party" going!
Great reaction Britt. It’s nice to listen to someone who is both intelligent & interesting. You may enjoy some of her other hymnes/ religious genre performances such as The Lord’s Prayer or Amazing Grace, or go for an extremely slow tempo When You Wish Upon a Star. There are so, so many fantastic performances for you reaction. Cheers Graeme.
Amira sings another rendition of this hymn, but with colour photography, plus early pictures of Amira, starting as a baby. Beautiful studio production.
Yes, this Christmas concert in Holland had her singing several carols and hymns. For taking the tune to higher notes, her singing of Amazing Grace went much, much higher! Her performance of Phantom of the Opera this year takes it to perhaps the highest note of all, too, and she is only 19 to do so much!
My God, her voice in that upper register just kills. I think that may have been whistle register at the very end. BRITT! Two things I think you will appreciate: I grew up in the church as well and this was always my absolute favorite hymn since I was a little kid. And it was also my Grandma's favorite hymn along with Leaning on the Everlasting Arms. But at any rate, I sang and played How Great Thou Art on my acoustic guitar on a windswept prairie in central Kansas at my grandma's burial. Second, if you haven't reacted to it yet, I think you should absolutely check out the 1977 Elvis Presley performance of this. I have seen a lot of people react to it and there is also a 1972 performance, which is great, but the 1977 one is about six weeks before he died and he is clearly not in the best health, but this performance is absolutely stunning. I've never seen it not blow a reactor away. And his arrangement of it, including his large TCB band and his two backing vocal ensembles is so ambitious and spectacular. The climax of it is operatic to say the least. And yet it still deeply has that going to church feel. Oh! I also wanted to say that you always look great, but this is the first time I've seen you with this look and it suits you perfectly!
You have three A’s. The next, about Amira’s age, you need is her friend, Alma Deutscher. Her talent? Composer, piano, violin with a permanent loaner Stradivarius, and just recently, conductor. The currently most reviewed items are the third movement of her violin concerto and her SIRENS WALTZ from her sold out Carnegie Hall concert entirely of her work. She cocked a snook at her critics, claiming that modern music must be ugly. She starts with a traffic jam and resolves it into four Viennese waltzes She is now conducting her third opera which was commissioned in Salzburg, Austria. I have not yet seen an English review. The STEPSISTERS DUET from her CINDERELLA opera, which sold out in San Jose, is available with her and Amira singing. She just finished conducting an improved version of the show in San Jose last fall.
I agree with all the comments here. Amira is the best❤. Your reaction was great, bravo. One thing, you rightfully admired that oregon. Not many left anymore. I guess I’m older than you by about 50 years😊 but that is called a pipe organ. An old theater in my town in Northern California had one. Unfortunately it was sent out for restoration and theater changed hands and the old pipe organ has been 😠.
She's a lovely Christian girl with a heart for the under privileged. Coming from the Netherlands she noticed that in the town where she came to live in South Africa (her mom is South African an her dad is Dutch) the children had no playparks like she had in the Netherlands so she started a foundation at the ripe age of 10 or 11 called Gelukskinders. This foundation with money she rases from online concerts and gifts from fans she has already put up at least 18 playparks in school yards and public spaces. Swings, merry go round, slides etc. She turned 18 not so long ago and is taking a gap year after graduating from high school
That was such a gorgeous rendition! She's so, so good! I'd love to know where that was filmed. The organ was amazing. My grandmother used the play the church organ and me and my sister would get to sit in the choir loft with her while she played, but it was no where near as big as that one!
As chapels, churches, and cathedrals go, that is a small organ. Some are 30 feet high and just as wide. Google the Mormon Tabernacle Choir organ. There are organs bigger than that. Nice reaction.
some have sung this as a MUSICAL... GOSPEL... and Amira sings this as a PRAYER...so many singers wants to over do this song. and that great BIG ORGAN is being played so lite is well done!
She was on a German or Belgium Voice real young and won a gold ticket, with Dad and family standing on the side lines..and if you watch it watch the results and comments after...she seemed fearless..😊✌
She was sick at this performance and you can hear it, she got so sick she had to restrain for any talk-sing for more than three months.. The responsible for that was the happy amateurs that arranged her tours.
Rubbish... You always criticise Amira. Amira arranges her own concerts for when home for Christmas and fan weekends... including singing for the elderly in private etc. Yes, she did have a cold, understandably that is a risk both of the long flight from South Africa to the Netherlands and moving from Summer there to winter in Europe. Amira kept all her commitments that fortnight and to protect her voice did very little talking in between and made no excuses about doing any of her performances. She is a true professional, nice, and also sensible person, and unlike yourself, she doesn't moan, and remained joyful and happy with her family the whole time during that visit. You are so reluctant to give Amira credit for anything. Have I ever read a comment from you that didn't include a criticism or an accusation that she is being manipulated in some way. Amira is not someone to be manipulated by anyone. She is an exceptionally capable person and we'll able to take care of herself and her voice.
@@shooster5884 It is the amateurs leading her into almost disaster and almost ruined her voice, for their own sake, that are criticized. You apparently think they did a good job.
Yes, the Dutch and Afrikaans W is pronounced like the English V. Also the Dutch and Afrikaans G is nearly like the Scottish CH - but a bit softer (more like a cat hissing : not quite as throat-clearing as the Scottish CH). Furhermore : most English speakers try to combine The GH in her surname in but they belong to different sylables: Wil-lig-ha-gen.
