(Anti-)Thanksgiving series (6 of 7) BlackBraid is a brand new black metal project from the Adirondack Mountains in New York State; I presume the song title is named for the river of that name in the area. Anyway, so far it’s just the one guy, Native-born multi-instrumentalist Jon Krieger (stage name Sgah'gahsowáh; have fun with that), but we’ll see where it goes. It does check a lot of the black metal boxes: dark forests, pre-Christian iconography, solid death metal screams, and an infusion of traditional instruments. No Vikings, black magic or Satan, though, but I like it all the same.
