I knew this would blow your mind. Dirty Loops is a band from Stockholm, Sweden. They were formed in 2008 and are made up of Jonah Nilsson (lead vocals/keyboards), Henrik Linder (bass) and Aron Mellergård (drums). Their arrangements borrow from jazz and jazz fusion, gospel, funk, electronica, pop, and disco. Jonah did sing in his parents church. All studied music in school and are trained in classical and jazz music. They are managed by Quincy Jones although he lets them do whatever they want since they are so good. They perform excellent covers as well as original music. Their cover of Thriller with Cory Wong is awesome and well worth a listen. Thanks for reacting to this one Britt. ❤

Fun fact: Jonah is the only one singing in this song, he layered the whole choir himself acting like different persons to get the right feel. In the video Aron is only pretending to sing in the video. Pretty mindblowing. Next song to check out: Dirty Loops and Cory Wong "Thriller".

Love Dirty loops! You should listen to all their songs! A Swedish group with that jazzy/ funky style! The singer is well educated in classical and jazzy styles and have sing in churches. The band is phenomenal! They’re under Quincy Jones wings now!👌💫❤️

Jonah is a classically trained pianist. Henrik Linder an Aron Mellergård are trained in jazz. Incredible musicians.

Yes, they are incredible, all three of them. Also as songwriters they’re amazing. Btw, Jonah switched from classical to jazz piano during his later Highschool or music college years. But I find the classical influence and appreciation is still very much there in what he does…. ☺️

Hey Britt, whoever suggested you listen to “Next To You”, bless 🙏 That groove is fire, such a feel good song, and yes, they’ve blended in almost every other genre there is out there - Dirty Loops are one of the ultimate genre bending bands around at the mo… This song is so good, and I absolutely loved your reaction to this, every minute of it. Your faces :) and your comments, priceless! As many have said, you picked it: Jonah grew up singing in both of his parents’ church choirs in Sweden, basically from age 1. What gets me is that he’d never been singing lead vocals in any band, up to the time when Aron (drums) asked him if he wanted to play with him and Henrik, the ‘emo-looking dude’. Jonah has played classical piano up until later in music school, when he switched to jazz piano. His vocal and keyboard chops are nuts, -them riffs! But then, so are all three of them, both with their chops and their musicality. They create their songs and lyrics together, in varying combinations. Yes, Dirty Loops are a musical tsunami phenomenon, and I’m glad you’ve discovered them ☺️ (People have thrown and waved all sorts of things at them 🤣) Best to listen with headphones, their recording quality is sooo good. I always love when people start with this song. You went all "If It Isn't Love" in your seat and I'm here for it. I hadn't even thought about the New Edition angle, but you're not wrong. I agree that his voice is very R&B. The R&B lover in me makes this particular song my favorite of theirs. The crazy thing is, the lead vocalist is the only vocalist. The "choir" you hear is just his voice layered to sound like a choir. The drummer singing in the video is just for aesthetics. I love how you mentioned the church towel before they really took you to church. Almost like you felt it coming but you still weren't ready. He sang "choir music" in church, which suggests to me it was more hymnals and stuff. When I say this song is "churchy", I'm being very specific about a certain church experience. You mentioned a lot of artists that he reminds you of and I agree with you. He's also very Stevie Wonder and also very Stokley from Mint Condition.

Super nice reaction! You are of course right about Jonah’s church choir beginnings! That was his entire song background when they started Dirty Loops and Henrik and Aron asked if he could be the singer. Also, you know, that whispering at the start was really nice, like you anticipated something special, and then you got something special. Dirty Loops always gives you something special, but it is always different. Also, the credits often contain a lot of strange characters, like their dietitian Jabba the Hut (so the comment about his passing is in fact correct).

They got their breakthrough about15 years ago or something like that. They began uploading re-arranged songs by Adele, Britney Spears and some older from the '80s. Needless to say they went super viral and everyone from Quincy Jones to David Foster were singing their praises! The latter one took them under his wings as his like protégés. After some very intense years they took a long break but now their back busy touring in Europe. Nowadays they belong to Quincy Jones Productions. Regarding the credits most of them makes no sense unless you're a Swede or Norwegian! Some are names of Norwegian athletes/artists/tv-host/chess player.

Quincy Jones is just their manager though. They produce everything themselves, together with Simon Petrén, and have said in interviews that they don't send Quincy anything, not even demos, until they're all done, video and all.

What a great reaction. I just love seeing someone discovering Dirty Loops for the first time and having their minds blown. 😄 You are correct when assuming Jonah grew up singing in church choirs, but it wasn't gospel choirs. Both his parents are church choir directors, but they work in Svenska kyrkan (the Swedish church) which has a classical music tradition, so it's the chamber choir style. His whole family are classical musicians, and when he started playing the piano, at age 11, he played classically until mid-high school, when he switched to jazz. In music college he studied music production, with jazz piano on the side and, as someone alredy pointed out, when they started the group in 2008, he had never sung lead and didn't even know if he could. They often say that their music is a mix of all the different kinds of music they listened to growing up, and Henrik (bass) said in an interview that one of the reasons for their particular sound is Jonah's classical voice leading when writing the harmonies.

And, not to forget, please do more DL reactions. You could pick just about anything - from their early covers to their latest collab album with US guitarist Cory Wong - and you most likely won't be disappointed. They're bonkers good. My absolute favourite is the jazz fusion-y piece "Work Shit Out", which has long instrumental solos in it, but if you want more vocals, I'd recommend "Follow the Light", "Breakdown", or their first original, that they released in 2014, "Hit Me" (which has the run of runs at the end 🤯).

Beautiful reaction! I love watching people discover Dirty Loops for the first time. There are so many great suggestions to pick from for your next listen. If you want to hear more of that Michael Jackson influence, go with "Follow the Light" or "Thriller". These are collaborations they did with a guitarist named Cory Wong and his brass section. If you want to just hear different sides of their musicality for Dirty Loops proper, "Breakdown", "World on Fire", "Work Shit Out" are all great choices. By the way, you don't have to distort the screen because I have never seen anybody have copyright problems with them. Also, I highly recommend using headphones to pick up on all of the nuiances of this phenominal band. I've just subscribed to you in hopes to see you go down the DL rabbit hole but will look into what else you got going on in your channel. You made me smile and I needed that. Thank you!

This is just a STUNNINGLY talented trio. They've been working with Qunicy Jones...THE Quincy Jones. I discovered them through their cover of "Baby" by Justin Beiber...they made a verison of that song that I actually like. Which is saying something. Highly recommend just tossing a dart at any of their songs and it's a funky as hell banger.

Actually only Jonah is classical trained in Piano and composition. Henrik (bass) and Aaron (drums) went for Jazz. All of them went to Stockholm's royal academy of music (or close to that name). Sweden's equivalent to Juliard.

LOVE your reaction video. I agree with @michaellust. Congratulations! You've been Loopified and now there's no going back. DIrty Loops has many YT videos that will blow your mind. As a bassist, it's always fun for me to see how another musician -- in your case, a predominant vocalist -- reacts to their videos. You have an AMAZING ear to be able to sing Jonah's riffs right back. Very impressive! Now go check out more of them. Highly recommended are both covers and originals: "Hit Me" (their first-ever original song that went #1 in Japan), Lady Gaga's "Just Dance," Justin Beiber's "Roller Coaster," Stomae's "Ta Fete," Michael Jackson's "Thriller," Samsung's commission of "Over the Horizon," and originals such as "Accidentally in Love," "The Way She Walks," "Die for You," "Work Shit Out," "Rock You," and their brand new release, "Run Away." What a treat your reaction was. You brought this wonderful combo of knowledge, appreciation and just the joy that really good music can give to a music lover. I've noticed some of the other comments contain specifics about the band but I'll add: A) please react to more Dirty Loops. Your reaction style and their music are made for each other B) You can react to anything by Dirty Loops with complete confidence as they truly have no bad songs. They started out doing incredibly creative covers and I'm sure you'd get a kick out of experiencing where they're coming from. I just loved this reaction. That said one small observation. I found the distortion you put on the Loops video (copyright stuff I get it) rather jarring. If you could find some way to maybe block the visuals or some such but not make the music so harsh that would be really cool. But please do more Loops videos..."Next to You" was my first Loops song too. Great place to start.

You said it best; this is a beautiful marriage of genres. For a music lover who doesn't have a huge genre bias but loves hearing the best they all have to offer, Dirty Loops are the creme de la creme of bringing the best of pop, R&B, gospel, funk, and doing so with incredible musicianship. This is one of those bands that deserves to be a household name.

Ditto Ditto DITTO to all of the comments about this trio of stellar, stratospherical, musical geniuses who never fail to impress. Welcome to our world Britt! Loved your reaction! I am subbed. When you see other musicians reactions who are gobsmacked, run out of superlatives, and (somewhat) jokingly say they're giving up playing or singing, that's saying it all! I would recommend next Dirty Loops' collaboration with Cory Wong on "Thriller". Yes THAT one. It's totally Loopified and more of a tribute/homage than a cover, with smiles all around. You won't be disappointed! Although most anything you choose will have you looking for the next one! Also try "Songs For Lovers", a side project by Aron and Henri that showcases their other worldly talent. It's a collection of short pieces but my favorite is "Bitten By The Kitten". (And you are correct...Jonah grew up singing in a church choir. Both of his parents were singer/ directors if I'm not mistaken)

Well, African-American music, and music influenced by it, rules the world. Which is why three guys from Stockholm, Sweden, can faithfully reproduce this intense of a gospel feel, even though they themselves never ”went to church”, as it were. Furthermore Jonah, the vocalist, sang every single vocal layer you hear in this song. Unbelievable but true.

I have followed many of your reactions from various artists from Dimarsh to Angelina Jorden to today's Dirty Loops. One thing surprises me as a music lover I see you are !!)) Why don't you use headphones or plugs when you listen to good music? You get a completely different experience of everything!! + Maybe the viewers, the listeners will get a better sound image from your nice enthusiastic reactions !!)) The sound image we who watch you is very flat and monotonous !! Look at some other react see how they do it ?? You don't hear about them because they can't reproduce this sound live, it's so overproduced that it's not possible to recreate the same experience live, which is sad, because it such a disappointment when they are live Jona is a genius. No doubt! they have all MASTERED their instrumentation. I love this group too and I'm amazed by them. you are right sister, there is an "anointing" on this young man that was meant for Church... that's a gift and you can't compete with a gifted person. change the World Jona.

Enjoy your energy and enthusiasm for the song. Just wish the playback quality was better. I don't upload so I can't tell you how to do it but maybe you using headphones will send the listener/viewer a better song sound quality. On my end (through JBL headphones) the song sounds like it's being played back through a 20yr old 2" speaker. Wow, tinny sound on the video paired with a washed-out translucent little quarter screen of Dirty Loops. It's nice to be able to see your reaction, but so many others have started putting themselves in the little quarter-screen box and really featured the artist. I certainly wish you well,, and love your enthusiasm, but the presentation is the name of the game……just saying!

Sorry, but the sound quality of the music you recorded is thin and harsh. I already know and love the song, but I couldn't listen to more than two minutes of your video. Best to record the music directly, not with a microphone. With good headphones, listen to other "Next To You" reactions and notice the music audio quality in comparison to your video.
