This was done during lockdown. The first one, the baritone was Adam Chance (called Chance). The one with the glasses and beard is Rob Lundquist, their tenor. The guy in red is their high tenor Austin Brown, their beatboxer is Adam Rupp, lovingly called Freak of Nature and the rattling bass underneath was Tim Foust in the Jack Sparrow outfit A great song of theirs to react is Man of Constant Sorrow. And no, it's not newer, but it's a great showcase

@@Mayze1224 "Man of Constant Sorrow" is what I consider most reactors Home Free Right of Passage -- it's the song that introduces most people to the band (and yes, they call themselves a band). Other songs that I think illustrate their talents really well, and deserve attention, are: "Unchained melody," "Catch me if you can" (an original song, written by their bass, Tim Foust); I recommend the version where they're singing live in a studio (Before COVID hit), so you can see who's singing which part, and "My Church."

Thanks for reacting to Home Free. No instruments were used except for Adam Chance tapping on the guitar at the beginning of the video. As others have said, this isn’t the best Home Free video to start your introduction to the group but once you see their other songs you’ll be blown away. Enjoy the ride!

When you think you have Home Free pegged, you don't. If you want to do another Home Free this was not the best place to start…Man of Constant Sorrow is a good song to start with.

Home Free is the best a-cappella group. Once you follow them, you'll just regret not doing it sooner. They are great. Can really sing all genres. They all have really great voices. Also the beatboxer who is inhuman, so good and for me the glue of the group. His name is Adam Rupp (with his brother Chris due in 2016 the group left the founder) The one who starts here is Adam Chance, but is called Chance. This song was his idea and was done in TikTok style. With beard and glasses is Rob Lundquist. With sword Austin Brown and the "Pirate of the Caribbean" Tim Foust. Suggestion: " Man of Constant Sorrow" "Ring Of Fire" "End Of The Road"

How good are these guys? The fun & energy in this is infectious. This was done during quarantine so none of the guys were even together. The editing of this was great & was done in the Tik Tok style. Love all the guys parts, with Chance starting first, then Rob & Tim's rumbling bass underlying it all. Austin is in the red outfit. Adam's beatboxing is phenomenal as always including sea swells & castanets. Amazing how he increased the tempo from one song to another. They do this medley of songs in their live concerts. You may want to check out their version of "Man Of Constant Sorrow".

The guy you thought was the bassist is their sky high tenor, Austin Brown. The guy in the tricorn hat standing in a boat is their bass and stayed in the basement the whole song. He gets all the way down to an A0 in a couple songs. When he hits low notes in a live concert, it's like an earthquake. As you should be able to guess by the date, this was filmed in the middle of lockdown. They weren't even all in the same state, so they had to get creative. A lot of comments are recommending Man of Constant Sorrow, as well as older stuff. I don't really like Man of Constant Sorrow because you don't get to hear Chance sing, and older stuff doesn't even have Chance in the group. I highly recommend Workin' for a Living as a good entry song because it showcases all their voices, shows off the beatboxer's unusual talent, is upbeat and funny, is recent enough you can see them more or less as they currently look, and as a bonus you get all their names at the beginning of the video. It's especially fun if you're familiar with Anchorman, since it's an homage.

The only “instrument” in this AT ALL is the beat on the back of the guitar at the beginning. EVERYTHING else is only vocals. So it’s not using instruments to “enhance” anything, it’s just used to set the rhythm in the first 10 seconds or so.

The guitar is only there for visual effect. What we're hearing is Adam Rupp's amazing beatboxing. Watch it again and you will notice that the same drum sound continues after the guitar is gone. Watch Adam Chance's hands NOT beating on the guitar in other sections of the medley.

React to Home Free...and the Home Fries will come! These guys are so incredibly talented. They cover all genres, but are the only country a cappella group. They have been around a long time and have a veritable treasure trove of a catalog. Theres sure to be something youll enjoy. They do covers, and originals. They will blow you away. There is no competition between the top a capella groups, as each have their own style. IMO, Home Free just happens to be the most personable. Their humor is infectious, and their talent...both individually and as a group, is out of this world.

This medley was done during covid lockdown so they were all at home in different parts of the country. They are mostly country style but do lots of great different genres. With the three or four best acapella groups they all have a unique style that don't really overlap much. HF don't take themselves too seriously and do lots of fun stuff. Austin and Rob did Nesum Dorma and Austin's lead on When a Man Loves a Woman was incredible.

These guys go from hilarious to super serious & do it amazingly well! Even in their live concerts! And their bass IS truly a BASS! In fact, he worked with Geoff in VP to help Geoff go as low & as high as possible! Yeah, Tim's truly a bass.... Who can also sing tenor! 😊💕

Another favorite of mine. This was during Covid so they were all at their own homes. Tim, the bass, was standing in a boat so he couldn’t move much. I love Adam (beatboxer) doing the castanets and sounds of the sea hitting the bow in the last song….so crazy good. Just a lot of fun. Can you tell Austin (in red with sword) studied musical theater?!! Lots of fun!

This was filmed during covid, so they couldn’t do it in person, I love how creative they got in that era it blows my mind. But I'll give you a bit of a background on them. Home Free is a country acapella group, the members are Austin Brown (the guy who was wearing red), Rob Lundquist (the guy wearing glasses), Adam Chance but he goes by Chance (red beanie), Tim Foust (Bass) and Adam Rupp (beatboxer). They have been around for a long time and they were actually the winners of season 4 of the sing off which is the season that Voiceplay was also on. They are an amazing group, I would recommend checking out When Will I Be Loved, it is pretty recent. They also have a lot of original music that is amazing too, I would recommend checking out Givin' Up on You, it isn't acapella because it does have instruments in it but it is still amazing. For another acapella group, I would recommend checking out The Bass Gang, they are an amazing group that is honestly underrated, which they shouldn’t be because they are so talented!! For them, I would check out their cover of Hooked on a Feeling, which has Tim Foust as the guest. Thank you for the great reaction as always❤

Interesting note: the bass (Tim) actually has a 5 octave range! As a rule, he does the bass, although Chance (red beanie) picks up the bass line if Tim is doing a solo. Austin (with the sword), is their high tenor, Rob (checked shirt) is 2nd Tenor. Adam has won several beatboxing competitions. Five amazingly talented people. I think you'll be more impressed as you dive a bit deeper.
@wirelessmikedj7784
@wirelessmikedj7784 Год назад
Just to clarify, Adam has not competed, but was voted best by his peers.....he has stated that he is not interested in competing. With that aside, he could be a champion...his ability to replicate actual percussion (more than a beatboxer) is uncanny, which is why I prefer to refer to him as the vocal percussionist. I believe he also has the widest range of all with all the sounds he does...I believe Tim said as much one time. This group is a collection of amazing talents that also has solo projects. Austin Brown has his channel with a LOT of content, Tim has his channel and often Chance collabs with other groups. Tim Foust just did a collab with "The Bass Gang" for "Hooked on a feeling".

Subbed for more HF, my favorite a cappella group personally! Love all the a cappella groups, but Home Free has something extra, for me anyway. It's hard to explain and it's not a diss to anyone else. They just have a vibe. I also think they're technically brilliant and have a versatility that makes them more interesting to a wide audience. For something that will knock your socks off, try Man of Constant Sorrow. For something funny and brilliant, try the Butts Medley.

New subscriber. Great reaction, too! I love it when people discover Home Free. They are a freakishly talented group of fellas! They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, American Pie featuring Don McLean, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, Dive Bar Saints, The Driver, Crazy and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone and their newest one, Ray Stevens' Mississippi Squirrel Revival. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Unchained Melody, Listen to the Music, Brother...the list goes on. To switch it up..try Two Country Singers try singing Opera. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!

In my opinion,Home Free is the best. Their talent is unmatchable. They each have their own unique qualities yet come together in perfect harmony. We fans of Home Free are a different bunch. Tim,the bass, describes us as sometimes rabid.🤣😂 We don't like comparisons or competitions. I'm glad you have grown to stop the comparisons. Your knowledge of music will help you understand how truly talented these men are. And to top it all off,they are the most amazing,down to earth men you will ever meet. This is one of "quarantine" series of videos (made by the individual members during lockdown). Others in the series include "Down to the Honkytonk", "Moonshine", "Meet in the Middle", "Sunday Best", "Folsom Prison Blues" and "Flowers on the Wall". They're always going to sound at little "country" 'cuz 3 of them are from southern U.S. states (the beatboxer & the man with glasses are both from Minnesota).

I'd give you another chance on a video, but there was a bit too much speculation based on one performance, and many missed the mark if you are a true Home Fry, you realize what any one of them does in any one performance doesn't represent what they can do, it is for that individual song. You just cannot peg them into a certain hole based on just one song. They did this for fun during the covid lockup, poor song choice for technical deep dive analysis. Tim Foust has a 5 octave range, tenor to the bassiest of basses, Adam Chance is the baritone but also has a big range, bass when Tim is singing lead, also sings up with the tenor harmony and often assists Adam Rupp, their vocal percussionist, in the instrumentals without anyone even realizing it, Austin is the high tenor and often sings in a lead spot, Rob Lundquist is also a tenor and can go high and low as needed, and is so talented he can rap and do opera, and well Adam Rupp is in his own world in terms of the vocalizations. Wait til you hear him do the no-monica or a didgeridoo.

They were all at home in front of their cellphones because of lockdown. That's why none of them except Adam (the beatboxer) was moving because he can't help but move when he's beatboxing (plus he doesn't like looking directly at the camera when he's beatboxing) and Tim couldn't move much because he was standing in a row boat. Your analysis was correct because they weren't together. They were in five different locations in three different states. Dude....hate to contradict you, but you really should have started your Home Free journey with an actual song rather than a medley....there is a "traditional" way of approaching this group...1. Start with Man of Constant Sorrow. 2. 2nd, Ring of Fire. 3. End of The Road. 4. Brother's in Arms. 5. You then will be Ready for Mayday. 6. Then you must hear How Great Thow Art (the most magnificent presentation of "traditional" a Cappella you are likely to ever hear)...the take off for fun (by then you WILL be a Home Fry)...the Butts Medley, Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget (origial) ... etc. There are over 200 songs in their repertoire....lots of room to get lost in, but don't miss their Christmas songs, O Holy Night, Angel's We Have Heard on High, Mary Did You Know, Do you Hear What I Hear, A Little More Chear (original) and Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. Then find their solo projects...Austin Brown (high tenor) does Unchained Melody and Bring Him Home to die for. Tim Foust (basso profundo with 5 octaves above that) does Misty Mountains (with Peter Hollins). Rob Lundquist (second tenor) and Austin Brown do an incredible version of Nesum Dorma..which WILL blow your mind...as they say Home Free is an amazing rabbit hole. These guys do A Cappella right!

And...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so fucking doomed. We'll save you a chair. You're about to be buried in Home Fries. Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks. God bless ‘em. All the men can beat box, but Adam is in a league of his own. He's a world-class vocal percussionist and there're good reasons he's called a "Freak of Nature" and “the man who swallowed a drum kit.” For more of Adam's incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete's sake), his no-monica solo on Working For A Living and Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up (that video is on Facebook), and his drum solos. For more of Tim's seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version). For Chance's smooth baritone, check out Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, I Can’t Outrun You, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome.. basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow. For Rob's soulful tenor, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain't Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.) For Austin's soaring power tenor, check out Crazy, Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he'll sing you right out of it.) For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Brother, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget. For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam's arrangement. Nothing else like it.) For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne. For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On, Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female. The Home Free men are masters of collaborations. They put the spotlight on their collaborator, supporting them with wonderful vocals and amazing harmonies. Check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, Children Go Where I Send Thee with the late Kenny Rogers, Don’t Laugh At Me with Mark Wills, Christmas In Dixie with Alabama, or Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For with Peter Hollens. Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday - the official video. After Mayday, you'll be ready for Tim and Austin doing My Maria or Tim's mashup of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay. Then, when you come up for air, check out Rob’s and Austin’s “Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera.” You'll need smelling salts after that one. Don't miss their official videos. The Home Free men will often do a straight, gorgeous vocal performance, but they'll add elements of humor to the video that will leave you chuckling or even laughing out loud. (Folsom Prison Blues, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Working For A Living, Brother). And God help you when you get hit with the Home Free Curse. They’ll do a song you absolutely cannot stand and make you like it against your will. I’ve been hit by the curse four times now, and I’m not alone. Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don't just own a cover, they upgrade it.” You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.

Yea....not the best song to try to analyze them as a group. You are seeing them record themselves in their own homes without the rest of the vocal band being there. They are dressed up but usually are not. They have so many sides to them and to start with a video and song they made during lockdown is not the best way to start unless you are just wanting to enjoy them. None of them knew when the camera was "going to be on them" because it was put together in bits and pieces from 5 videos. Home Free cannot be analyzed the way you were doing it unless you take the time to get to know the guys first. They do not fit into any box and you have to know each personality to know what they enjoy and don't enjoy. I am hoping to see more HF from you.

Sorry. No instruments whatsoever. They are an acapella band. You are just starting down this rabbit hole. Good luck.

Ok - you have everything wrong but this was during Covid. Adam the percussionist is their beat they follow. Tim is the deep bass - watch a different Homefree when they are together. Then you could figure out who sings what. They are so much higher tier then Voice Play.

I like your commentaries so I will watch this. Just a quick note on the thumbnail: HF fans call themselves Home Fries, apparently. I'm not a Home Fry but I can certainly appreciate that those guys are very talented and have wonderful, simple, human sense of humour 😊 Also, the Home Fries have left you some loooong informative comments, so enjoy learning the basics about the band!

The bass - Tim Foust (tricorn hat) ranks with Geoff among the best. This was filmed during quarantine covid - and they were not together when this was filmed. Home Free is really incredible. They do rank with Voice Play - and this beatboxer - has some of his own vids showing you his award willing talent.. Get ready for a great ride!!

You'll be able to get to some of Home Free's newer stuff...eventually. For now, though, you're just going to have to go on the journey. In order to get to a point where you can appreciate the differences in all three groups you'll need to understand what to expect from the voices in each of the groups. That means, I'm afraid, putting in the work of listening, over and over, to each as they become what they are today. Oh, don't misunderstand, you'll have a great time learning everything you need to know, but it's still going to take time. This being your first Home Free experience I wouldn't recomend you listening to Mayday, for example. Nor, for that matter, would I suggest you react to Helplessly Hoping. You're ready for neither of those yet. Take the journey, learn the voices, learn the personality displayed behind each voice. Then you'll understand, much better than you believe you will, why we're all so protective of, and such massive fans of, "our" group, no matter which one it is. Reaction suggestions for Home Free: Since there's only been one group member change since the group became more well known let's start with the first song right after the change, shall we?: Try Everything from the Trolls soundtrack. Lots of fun.

Can you assess postmodern jukebox and a vocalist like Haley Reinhart? Their vintage jazz cover of Radiohead Creep or white stripe 7 nation army would be interesting to get your take.
