At her concert in Hong Kong in 2017 her staff handed out placards to all the fans the said My Name Is and then people could write in their names. When the audience held those up when she sang Dear Name she was so taken she almost stopped singing. The four people who are singing are unknown or little known singers. The last guy is a street performer, the 2 females are backup singers, at least one of the 2 and maybe both are IU's backup singers. The young has just made his debut.

These people are fame less or less popular musicians and she shared her legendary stage with them so that they can have a name or can have a moment of fame. This is one of the problems of just diving in head first to IU without knowing the back story or meaning of the songs. IU has more songs than anyone I have ever known whose songs have meaning that extends beyond the actual song itself. There are songs whose story span several songs. And when it comes to her MV's the meaning is rarely what you are seeing. In other words she uses metaphors and symbolism etc. For example her song Coin isn't about actually gambling at a casino. It is about the risk she has taken against the odds but that no one is bigger than the industry a lessons she learns when she loses all her money in the last game. But the industry needs her as much as she needs the industry and therefore he flips her a coin to start again. My Sea is about her growing up and coming to terms with who she is. Songs like Eight will really throw you for a loop if you don't know what the song is really about.
