And has an infinite amount of jokes in the bank for every situation also. Spontaneously sharp as a tack and quick to pull out a pre prepared joke for any heckler situation. Absolute legend!
@@nullakjg767 that's one of the most retarded statements iv ever read.... The UK Apollo was started hundreds of years before the US was even discovered.... And is mostly knows for rock shows including.... The Beatles, rolling stones, black Sabbath and a shit ton more including black performers... Bob Marley spent most of his career there for instance.
The Apollo London is actually Hammersmith Oden theatre a one time cinema that became a famous London concert venue It’s a small venue great acoustics. As a young man regularly saw bands and artists preform there probably the most famous in 1983 Dire Straits Alchemy simply along with Queen Wembley 1986 and Led Zeppelin Earls Court London 1975 the best three concerts I’ve ever seen
"Smarties tubes on cats legs to make them walk like a robot" is a reference to an appearance of his on the show 'QI'. It was a letter scramble and he made that phrase out of a jumble of nothing.
I've seen that before it was utterly brilliant, especially alan's reaction when he was all how the fuck he you come up wit that? & bill's gay elf romp thing was really put to shame.
You should check out some of the "8 out of ten cats" stuff with Jimmy and Sean lock. Sean was one of the few folks I ever saw make Jimmy carr Crack up. Rachel's ski costume is a great moment.
The funniest part for me was when Britt thought it was the Apollo NY and that was the only Apollo on earth. 🤣😂Then when she wasn't getting the English references but the audience were laughing their socks off!
Hammersmith Apollo in London- famous venue originally called the Hammersmith Odeon (or the Hammy-O). There are LOTS of British references in this video.
"I'm not really a shoe girl... I have 4 boxes of shoes that I've accumulated throughout life. I just bought some new sneakers a couple days ago. I'm not a shoe girl." -Britt.
@@Isleofskye well theres 1-Monuple, 2-couple, 3-Triple, 4-Quadruple, 5-Quintuple, 6-sextuple, 7-septuple, 8-octuple, 9-nonuple, 10-decuple. and from there it just goes on and on....so 7 would be a Sepathlon? and that would make 6 events a Sexathon?
There is a thing about fast food places that have to change the recipe for bread in Europe because the level of sugar makes it a dessert, not a hamburger bun.
I'm dead at the "im not a shoe shopping girl" just to follow it up with the realization that you bought a pair two days prior is AMAZING lmao. "maybe I am a shoe girl"
Naked Attraction is the show he was talking about. A clothed person looks at 6 naked people to get a date with. They are eliminated one by one until there are only 2 left. Then the clothed person gets naked and finally picks the person to go on a date with.
When chopping onions its nothing to do with chopping the tops or bottoms off, it's really 2 things, 1 is you need a sharp knife like really sharp, the 2nd is to breathe through your mouth, most people don't realise because they looking down and concentrating they close their mouth and breathe through nose, if you keep your mouth open you don't cry, I'm a chef
Jimmy and Alan are NOT related but Alan is Pretty Funny aswell and he has his own Show called Chatty Man and Jimmy has been on it before where he answers the question "are we related?....yeah hes my mum!"
The trick to chopping onions and not crying is to use a really sharp knife, because using a dull knife crushes the onion and releases way more of the fumes that make you cry.
Alan Carr is not related to Jimmy. He is a famous UK personality. I am in the US and am obsessed with UK comedy. I watch many of their variety shows. I watch it so much I understand all of the references and British slang and all the celebs and personalities. Even when they reference different areas around the UK as well.
The cyclists getting the speed record at the level crossing(train crossing) was hit by said train.... Really left his mark in the record books/The wall 20 feet away😂
The crying portion all has to do with the skin. The onion releases sulfoxides when the skin is damaged. There are several ways to not cry when cutting onions. 1. Best way is to not cut off both ends. Ok to cut off one, but not both. 2. Cut under cold running water. 3. Use an extremely sharp knife. There are other methods, (freeze it etc...) but they don't work nearly as well as the ones above.
Deca is a prefix from the Greek Deka meaning ten. As in decade means 10 years, decathlon meaning 10 athletic events or decahedron as having 10 sides for few examples.
He discovered something, it's hard to be shocked or "offended" when it's quick one-liners. I def lmao with the "catholic church stand up, sit down..." one, def wasn't expecting that
The reason they're all getting the jokes is because it's a London crowd. It's the Apollo in London, Not New York. Lots of places have an Apollo Theatre. We have one here in Victoria in an outer suburb of Melbourne called Hawthorn. Apollo was the Greek god of music and poetry. So many places have theatres called The Apollo.
Smarties is a Nestle candy they are tiny beads of Chocolate covered in a layer of candy they come in several colours all mixed, and the "Tubes" are just the round cardboard cylinders that they come in, think of a toilet roll inner but twice as long and thicker with a plastic cap on either side and thats a Smarties Tube, they also come in smaller boxes that look like they should hold medication, but who wants the small sizes anyway
@@jayhop Smarties are sold primarily in Europe, Canada, South Africa, Australasia and the Middle East. Smarties are not distributed (except via parallel import) in the United States, where the rights to the name belong to the Smarties Candy Company, which manufactures its own hard tablet sweet under the registered trademark name Smarties. Smarties originate in the UK USA Smarties are not true Smarties if you want the real one order them off Amazon.
@@jayhop I live in South Africa but Jimmy is in the UK and I'm pretty sure he is talking about the same Smarties we also have something in my country called Astros which are similar but round and a little smaller and a little more crunchy
I think the reason some of the humour is over your head is because he's appearing at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London. The other side of the pond and the humour is full of in-humour. This is a very well-known theatre in London - if you've grown up with English lore and humour as I have being born and bred in South Africa.
We've made bread from scratch and let me tell you. The bread in stores, is like eating a sugar loaf. I don't even eat bread anymore, unless it's a rare treat because I want a grilled cheese sandwhich.
Smarties are sweets (candy to you) that comes in very slim long cardboard tubes. A cat's leg would be a tight fit. Hammersmith is a posh area of London.
