A lot of people just became sheep and jumped on the hate bandwagon. The hate on them I believe started when Chad & Corey Taylor (Slipknot) had a beef and the latter came out trashing their music, so a lot of his & Slipknot fans just piled on from there.
It started from a joke….From 2002 to 2004, a show called Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn aired on Comedy Central. It was a panel comedy show where four comedians discussed topical news stories, and the network advertised the hell out of it. One promo that ran during nearly all of Comedy Central’s commercials break for months was a clip from the show that featured comedian Brian Posehn responding to a prompt about a study published on May 5, 2003 that tied violent lyrics to violent behavior. He famously said, “No one talks about the studies that show that bad music makes people violent, but listening to Nickelback makes me want to kill Nickelback.”
They just got overplayed on radio and in every mall😂 I mean this happens to plenty of different artists and songs in all genre’s. All I want for Christmas, happy, and call me maybe off the top of my head comes to mind
Nickelback and Creed were like Abba and the Bee Gees - everybody ragged on them because they were overplayed. But they were overplayed because everybody listened to them and bought their records. Popularity breeds contempt. All great groups and accomplished musicians.
Let's get this straight... EVERYBODY ragged/rags on them AND EVERYBODY listens to them? No sir. That cannot be accurate. Truth is, MOST people rag on them and SOME listen to them.
@@bothellkenmore unless you "dunked on them" from the very beginning. I was a manager at a CD store when their first album came out. We were required to play new bands' cds. I played that CD once. I thought it was that bad. Same with Puddle of Mudd.
He's got a growl in his voice and they're really good lyrics, nobody mentions the lyrics they can be heartfelt at times and other times just downright raunchy which is what I love about Nickelback❤
In high school a buddy of mine and I would drive around blaring a Nickleback album. Nickleback came here for our Canada Day festival and was able to jam out to them buckcherry and The Trews
I really, really like your reactions. You have a great combination of feeling the music, and explaining things too. Your expressions are wonderful (your laugh, you smile with your eyes as well as your mouth, you love rock, etc.). Your word choice captures the essence of what you feel. Great job!
The nostalgia. My mom literally raised me on shania twain and then bands like nickleback and matchbox twenty and 90s and 00s music. Always make me think of my mama. My mom always says his voice is so sexy😂
*Nickelback's "She Keeps Me Up" is also really catchy. You should check that one, too. Also, you should check out the "studio" version first, then check out the live version. Or maybe even do back-to-back reactions. I've never seen anyone do that. But it's like you're seeing a movie's sequel without seeing the original.* 😁
Nickelback got all the hate for not so valid reasons, but this song is undeniably awe - some !! I got another one that you're bound to love - 'The Reason' from Hoobastank.
And I love the story behind how this song was written. Chad had gotten into a major argument with his girlfriend at the time and went down into his basement where he had something of a recording studio set up and just cranked the volume and started singing the chorus to this song hoping to piss her off more. To his dismay, but ultimate success, she came down a while later asking what he was working on because "it was awesome"
Fun fact: Chad wrote the song while being in a fight with his ex. He blasted the lyrics on his loudspeaker in his house. Instead of getting angry about it, she liked the lyrics he was writing. He then played it at Ryan's house and his wife said that it was a hit. It almost wasn't their hit single. Never Again is another great song from that album. Silver Side Up came out on September 11th, 2001. It's one of their best albums. All the Right Reasons is their best-selling album to date.
I enjoy NIckelback ... they've got a good energy & vibe and they know the sound that they're good at. I would recommend listening to their song "Never Again" - it's painful because of the specific topic, but it's a powerful piece (in my opinion) and it hits HARD
The correct word for the song is 'Earworm'... it crawls into your brain through your ear and is almost impossible to remove. The word for his voice is 'raspy'... as far as being able to sing different genres, I believe I could enjoy him singing the phone book
Within a couple of minutes Britt was singing along. This is exactly why the band was so popular. People "hated" the band because it was cool to hate them. In reality a large portion that claimed to hate them knew their hits inside and out and would likely sing along if it came on the radio.
i saw Nickelback live once (O2 in London, shout out if you know it) and it was the only time the crowd were so excited that i could barely hear Nickelback over the cheers. i know what you mean about his voice...it has a gravely tone but in a good way...it sounds like he just rode into town on a horse and rocked your world...
I’ve been to 2 Nickelback concerts and both have been excellent! They know how to give the people what they want! They even told one of the dirtiest, funniest jokes I’ve ever heard as part of an encore!
This was a proper ear worm for me, when it first came out. I probably played it a little too much because I kind of rubbed the shine off it. Great to hear it again after quite a long time though. Dammit, I might have to play it again. Pass me the polish someone.
For me Nickelback's music brilliant, but what makes their songs even better is the creative music videos that go with them. Tracks I would recommend that are good examples of this are: "If today was your last day" "Savin' me" "Lullaby" "Never gonna be alone" "I'd come for you" "Far Away" "Photograph" "Too bad"
Britt it's so hard to find Nickelback reactions. They have always been one of my favorite bands. After you see them live you will be hooked for life. They are on tour now, I am going to see them on August 27th and I highly recommend you try to check them out if you can. Satellite is an awesome video and another tune you will singing all day after hearing it. Thanks for being a Nickelback fan.
The song came out in July of 2001. I remember, a few months later, raging in a club and getting emotions out as a band covered the song. It may be musically simple, but that isn't the point.
