so glad you reacted to these. I personally love the Overlord endings much more than their openings since the endings focus more on the perspectives and emotions of our main cast of characters. They just hit different. Quick note, all the overlord songs are technically done by the same "5 people." Myth & Roid - a male producer and female vocalist OxT - a male vocalist and the same producer from Myth & Roid Over time, the original female vocalist left Myth & Roid to pursue a solo career and was replaced with a new vocalist. That original vocalist is the one singing No Man's Dawn.
@@thecrimsondragon2379 Say what you like about the show, but the songs are great. Well, say what you like about the other songs, at least Styx Helix is great.
"who's the good guys? Who's the bad guys?" The main character is the main villain of the story. He and his subordinates regularly clash with other villains and wipe them out, but they're still ultimately "the bad guys" and will do the same thing to any heroes that try to stand in the way of their plans for world domination.
But are they really THE bad guys, depending on your perspective they could be the good guys, because to me he just wants the best for his people and if you stand in his way then you die, the TRULY bad ones are the Slane Theocracy, they’re corrupted by the power that was passed on to them by the players
Also ainz is planning on making a kingdom where everyone is equal and without crime (though i have no doubt they'd lose a lot of freedom of speach). Pretty grey imo
@@davidc. doing evil things for a noble (although usually misguided) goal is a very common trait of villains, you can't look at what happened to Arche and other Workers and tell me it wasn't just plain bad
@@electricant55 but he doesnt kill everyone out of enjoyment or hate, he only does it if they stand against him or if they are useless for him, he even spared tsuare because of ninya and he also led some humans be his subordinates even tho everyone in nazarick see human as pitiful insects + cocytus treated brain like a warrior and didn't call him dirty or something because he's a human and showed him respect, the real evil is the slane theocracy
good guy, bad guy. Labels are only valid from a given perspective. From the animes viewer pov our mc could be called either. It is all about what you bring when you watch it. For me he is the hero, for others he is a killing monster
I feel like the endings were really well designed and planned along with the intros. All the intros: get you hyped, the first season? Totally hyped. But as the story progressed, the watcher feels and begins to realize and notice some things, some of which are quite heavy. So the first season is so much hype, but as things go, you get times where you just have to step back and go "woah, that happened" and the endings really reflect that and I think respond to the mood of the viewer overall by the end of the episode
I am happy you did both OPs and EDs. Overlord is one of the rare anime that all the OPs and EDs are amazing. Not of this song are a miss. Thank you my friend.
Overlord Season 4 just finished, however the story is still ongoing. So it is likely that there is going to be a Season 5, 6, 7, etc. some day in the future and as far as I know the source material of the story is also still ongoing at this point in time, so no one knows how long this is going to end up being - but I am certainly here for the journey.
Kugane Maruyama (Overlord creator) stated that Overlord will end with Light Novel volume 18, to put things into perspective Season 4 ended adapting Vol. 14. Now Vol. 16 just released 2 months ago in japan so there is only 2 volumes left for the story to end, and most likely one final season. In average 1 Light novel volume = 4 anime episodes. However, the movie is coming which will cover Volumes 12 & 13 that the anime skipped after the Dwarves arc, so we'll have plenty of Overlord to look forward to in the coming years.
the season is coming to an end. The Story is still ongoing in its Novel (cause this Anime comes from a Novel not a Comic Manga like the rest, in fact the art from the endings are from the novel). Its getting a Movie, and As always after the current projects are done we will need to wait years for another season, I mean I think the first season came in 2012 x-x
I am very happy to see this set of reactions. Just watched the opening reactions you did and my personal favorites are the endings. With Hydra and No Man's Dawn being my top 2, respectively. Hydra just gives that haunting vibe. The other part of the endings that is incredible is the art. All the art is done by the same person: so-bin. Beautiful art and songs to go along with it.
SO there are some characters that ARE evil, no matter how some people try to defend them, but even then it's more of a "My allies and me deserve happiness above anyone else" evil, not an absolute sadist evil. For example, and this is a HUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEE spoiler, so anyone who doesn't want a spoiler should NOT READ the next part. One of the characters, a princess, literally betrays her whole kingdom, making it easy for an invading force to kill thousands of people, she hands over her familys artifacts to the invading nation, she kills HER OWN FATHER, THE KING, she becomes a literal demon, and she has her boytoy revived as an immortal demon who will NEVER be able to move because of the revival process, making him basically an eternal sex toy. She does this because she actually loves him in a fucked up way, and wants to spend eternity with him in a way where he can never leave her.
so the openings and endings matches the vibes of the season . once you watch the episodes you will understand why each song was chooses .the last song foe example bulds up and then climax and then holds it till the end just like season 4
Ainz is basically a neutral or neutral evil type character, he's undead and that makes him more logically minded rather than emotional. That said he can display strong emotions, especially emotional attachment to those within Nazarick, and his former comrades from his old MMO guild. But make no mistake Ainz and his group do lean more towards villains because most of them have an evil alignment, it's just that Ainz himself tries to be fair to others, and there's some in Nazarick with a good alignment though it is uncommon. Basically the statement they're a very grey faction is true. But there is other factions you'd consider evil or good, and they don't always have grey bits to them. The anime's latest season is nearly done, but so long as the show and the source material stay popular, it's not over yet. We're gonna get a movie for Overlord covering more events, and then who knows. With how popular Overlord has become, I wouldn't be surprised to see another season for it sooner or later. I certainly want the show to continue until the conclusion of the source material. Cause I really do love the show a lot, it's so good and I never get tired of seeing it or seeing more people try it.
Please. Listen to Cabal Online map theme songs. Port Lux. Bloody Ice. Desert Scream. Green Despair. Undead Ground. etc. If you look up a playlist, it's all there. Some video games background music just cannot be ignored
So first with my rating: Openings 3-4-2-1 and Endings 4-2-3-1. A little about how much more overlord has- we are expecting a movie this year i think in the summer and the 15-16 LN just came out last year so i would say 2 years maybe for season 5. And I'm not sure if they'll make 17-18 a movie or a season. But that will be the end of the anime. So most likely in about 4-6 years it will come to fruition if nothing else goes wrong.
Idk if you like Rock/metal, I'm assuming you do. But all my fav endings are all Rock/metal (massive range, some more pop Rock/metal), and even then they're all great endings in their own rights. But also fair warning that metal and rock as openings and endings are really rare, so most of these won't hold up when compared to actual metal: - Asobi Asobase ending 1 - Inkya Impulse (Best to watch it together with, and after, the opening) - Death Note ending 2 - Zetsubo Billy - Touhai Densetsu Akagi ending 1 - Touhai Densetsu Akagi ending 2 - Nobunaga Concerto ending 1 - Fukagyaku Replace Also. If recommending openings is also fine (although none are as heavy as you get for endingd) then: - Kachou Ouji opening 1 - Servamp opening 1 - Detroit Metal City opening 1 - Shingeki no Bahamut opening 1 - BASTARD!! Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy opening 1 (nudity, also full on pop rock, not heavy, but goated) - Mnemosyn opening 1?? (The centre part isn't heavy, and the visuals have nudity) - Nobunagun opening 1 You want my favourite opening or ending currently? Not rock or metal. It's the Opening for Heike Monogatari from last year
I think you should check out the op of Kokkoku. I haven't watched the show and from what I've heard it's apparently not particularly good, but the op is absolutely amazing. It's extremely funky and definitely something different than other anime op's but it has one hell of a vibe. If you'd like you can also just react to the full song, it's called flashback by myawi vs kenken.
LOL people said that Overlord has a grey area as to who's the villain? My guy, Bone Daddy might be the protagonist but he's very much the villain. No ands, ifs or buts. Its the whole reason the show is so fun.
There only been 2 band doing the ending and opening's(male vocalist is OxT, and female vocalist was myth & roid). I dont know what happened but the female vocalist's group disbanded between the 3rd and 4th season. She also has done the opening's for re:zero.
you need to listen to the full versions, you are currently listening to the cut version for the intro for the anime (to save time, and not have the intro be like 4-6 minutes long)
I am one of the heathens that likes to skip endings and often enough even openings but Love and Passion was one I never skipped, just love it. And the newest one also hits just right. Actually as I saw some other comment say, Overlord is just blessed OP and End wise, musically and visually!
Yeah skipping openings and ending is heresy, an inquisitor will be dispatched to your location to deal with you soon enough. I know some people just always skip them, or that they'll skip ones they don't like. I usually sit through the whole thing even if it's not my kinda song, but the only time I'm bothered by other people skipping is if the song is really good. So I may end up slapping my younger brother if he dares skip any of the openings or endings when I make him watch Overlord. I won't let him have the remote, I shall control it, he will not skip.
I learned that personally it takes me a lot of time to appreciate an opening or ending, it is rare that I would immediately vibe with it, but after a couple listens, I am amazed by how good they are, same experience I had with Overlord endings.
Some extra info but all the ending artwork is done specially for the anime by the light novel illustrator So-Bin. If you want some other metal or rocky intros than I can recommend the following: Shingeki no bahamut Genesis OP - Existence Inuyashiki OP - My Hero Re-Zero OP1 - 4 - Done by the same band Myth and Roid as some of the Overlord OPs and Eds Durarara OP 1 - 4 - OP 1 is my fav but the others are still good
It's at the end of season 4, but in terms of story? There is more to go, I don't know if we keep getting more seasons, but I sure hope so. The light novels aren't complete yet either, there is quite a bit more story to go. But in terms for this season, I think final episode airs today or tomorrow
Just in case you didnt know op 3 ed 1,2 were done by the same band myth and roid and op 1,2,4 and ed 3 were all done by OxT ed 4 is the only one thats different the lead singer of myth and roid broke off to do her own solo stuff and her band is named after herself - mayu maeshima
if you get the chance listen to the full version you dont even have to record them in case of copyright but hearing the full version make you love the songs even more
I'd rank endings from best to just good 4, 3, 2, 1. The further we got into seasons the better they were. But ending 4 stands far high above them all really.
I put forward for your consideration, Blue Exorcist. It has 3 intros you can react to. Alternatively, I put forward also for consideration, D Grayman which has several intros and endings to react to. 👍
Grey areas? I guess that could somewhat describe it. On one hand the MC commits mass genocide and supports his subordinates "Happy Farm"(humans get their skin cut off to make scrolls, and then get healed by magic just to repeat the process. Kids have the best skin for this), on the other hand he is merciful if he thinks you could be useful
Ill come with non popular show which has amazinf ops. It called Durarara!!!! When i watched this show like i never dropped them) even i think 3,4 are weaker but anyway good to listen them.
The anime may not be over but it will take maybe 4+ years to get another season, mainly because the novels are near their end and one more season could be enough material end it. We are waiting for a movie though. I highly recommend watching it. Also since you like both the openings and endings so much search for the full versions on youtube those are only smaller versions to fit the time of the anime. I highly recommend the full version of Hydra.
The fourth season should be ending this week, then there's a movie coming out. I think with the current light novels out, a fifth season could be produced but that's unknown. Madhouse is known for dropping anime, we got lucky that they've stuck with Overlord this far.
If anything there was this bad habit amongst western audiences to skip the ending songs for anime, which I could understand, traditionally for western animated works, the end credit just uses the theme song again, and usually are nothing special. With that said though, when it comes to anime, a lot of the times ending songs are arguably better than the opening songs, so if you make the same assumptions and habit, you really are missing out on something great. So, guys, stop doing that, stop skipping ending songs.
