Congrats on your baby in progress! Paul Anka is worth spending some time exploring. He was a teen sensation in the 50s ("Put Your Head on My Shoulder"" or "Diana"). Since you enjoyed Paul teaming with Odia Coates, you should try "One Man Woman." He also is a prolific songwriter, including writing "My Way," which were wonderfully recorded by Frank Sinatra and Elvis (you haven't spent much time with Elvis lately, so go find "My Way" and enjoy a few minutes with a founding member of the PDC)
Congrats on your pregnancy! This song was #1 and hated at the same time. He actually changed lyrics when done in person, to "Having our baby", and he publically declared his position on abortion as "pro-choice", This song certainly stirred the pot at that time. Ialways found it very pleasant to listen to.
Nice song. It was popular, but also got ridiculed mercilessly when it came out. It is sad that such a natural and beautiful thing as 'having a baby' can cause such divisiveness. Best wishes for you, your husband and your little one on the way.
Britt, this song came out in 1974, one year after the passage of Roe V Wade, which came on the heels of years of social upheaval around the "Women's Liberation" movement (as we called it then). The song was seen as a bit of a clap back from the pro-life side of society. The 'Ank" in "Anka" rhymes with "bank" not "honk." He wrote his first #1 hit when he was 14 and recorded it when he was 15, back in 1957. He is also a prolific songwriter, including Sinatra's "My Way" and Tom Jones' "She's a Lady."
Paul Anka is one of the most prolific artists and songwriters ever. Has sold over 60 million of his songs. Over 150 million air plays of his 900 compositions. Including "My Way" and Michael Jackson's "Love Never Felt So Good". Final note, I agree 100% that you are carrying a whole human in you.
@@davidoriggan not 60 million individual songs. 60 million of the songs he wrote were sold. Besides the two I mentioned above he also wrote, Goodnight my love, Feelings, Shes a lady, Train of Love and a bunch more hits for others.
No need to get embarrassed unless you are a single cell creature something has to happen in order to procreate. Blessings to you your hubby your daughter and your baby on the way. Also to any pets you may have (don't want anyone being left out)
You're always happy and smiling. God Bless You!! Kind suggestions: "I'd Choose You Again" by The Forester Sisters ( you can sing it to your husband) "At This Moment" by Billy Vera (heartbreaking song of desperate love) " The Fighter" by PDC member Keith Urban with Carrie Underwood ( the one at the CMA Awards so you can enjoy the audience) "Humble and Kind by Tim McGraw (beautiful message that the whole world should live by) Have the day YOU deserve!!
Try also an oldie from the 60's, Mike Douglas singing the song he also wrote, "The Men In My Little Girl's Life." I meant to add, another song, to react to is by Helen Reddy - "You and Me Against the World". It's from the viewpoint of a Mother singing to her daughter. Even so, this was mine and my wife's song. Meaning Her and I against the world and being there for each other.
Paul Anka was a teen idol in the 50’s and one of the most prolific songwriters of all time. Perhaps his most famous song is “My Way” sung by Frank Sinatra.
I love this song. It is just a love song from a man to his woman. It came out a year after the Roe v. Wade decision and was an instant hit. It's popularity worked on a nerve on those in favor of aborting babies so the Democrats, leftists, feminists, liberals all inappropriately projected their politics toward the song. Here we are almost 50 years later and people still love the song.
His point of view shows how smart they were taking abortion out of the equation. there are plenty of songs I watch reactions to and it seems a lot lyrics of the old tunes wouldn't fly with todays generation. True meanings get lost in translation. Congrats by the way .... We had 2 boys and they are a Godsend :)
This song when it came out in in 73 or 74 was not well received because of its seismic undertones even though it was a #1 song. Gets put on a lot of worse song lists. Personally, I have nothing against this song. If it comes on the radio, I'll listen to it.
I think part of the issue back then was he was singing about having "his" baby. It wasn't "her" baby or "their" baby. But yes the anti-choice undertones didn't help either.
