PTX has redefined acapella for the music industry! They work hard at their craft and it shows! They do covers, originals and lots of Christmas!! During this pandemic they released an EP, an LP, 10 music videos, sang in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and opened the Billboard Awards with Kelly Clarkson! Their new album of originals is releasing 2-12-2021 and we Pentaholics can’t wait!

They do covers and original. 1st Grammy was Daft Punk. Original members: Scott baritone, Mitch tenor, Kirsten soprano, Kevin beatbox, Avi bass he left in 2017 Matt became bass in this video was at the end in white jacket. They won a show The Sing Off 2011 and it has been a capella history ever since. Total 3 Grammys, gold platinum 2x platinum Welcome to the fans Pentaholics.

Pentatonix cover of Imagine is a song for the times. BUT they have so many great songs. Bohemian Rhapsody, Mad World, Amazing Grace, Daft Punk, Gold, Blinding Lights, and they do original songs too, Run to You is an oldie but a goodie. The choices are endless.

Since no one has mentioned it yet, Kirstie and Mitch (mullet) change their look often, so you never have to question if there's different members in the group...nope, it's always them! 😊 Avi (original bass) is the only member that has changed and Matt (white jacket) Replaced him. Avi left on good terms so everything is kosher (just for you Gail).

@@NJShow13 First, identify whether it's Matt or Avi in the video. You will not get them confused. You've seen Matt here, the black man on the end wearing a white jacket. Avi (ahh-vee) is a Jewish man with long hair and a beard usually wearing a beanie. After that, the other four are always the same people. Kirstin (Cur-stin), the only woman, changes her look a lot. You've seen her natural hair color here. It often doesn't look the way. Mitch, who has a mullet here, changes his look more than Kirstin. But it's always them.

PTX do music of just abut every genre ; classic rock and pop, R&B and dance. They are also known for their Christmas music. Scott, Mitch and Kirsty went to high school together in Texas, where they did choir and theater. They competed in and won NBC's The Sing Off in 2011, which gave them their first record contract and they have never looked back.

New subscriber, hoping for more excellent Pentatonix reactions. I agree with everyone else that the covers of Bohemian Rhapsody and Hallelujah are must-sees, as are the evolution of music and the evolution of Michael Jackson. Some of their fantastic original work includes happy now, sing, run to you. And just so you know, Mitch, the tenor with the mullet in this video, changes his look drastically over time as does Kirsten. Go by the voices, not the looks.

Everything they do is great. Amazing Grace is wonderful. although Scott sings beautifully, his base is beautiful too. They come together perfectly. I'm 71 and first heard them with my kids. I have loved them since then though I lost touch for several years.

New Subscriber here. They won a Grammy award for their first song "Daft Punk" (when they were just starting out) it was recorded in one of their home closets and in their kitchen and they edited it themselves on a laptop it only cost them $400 to produce (and did I say "IT WON THEM A GRAMMY AWARD"). They also won Grammy Awards for 2 other songs "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" and "Jolene, ft. Dolly Parton". You should definitely listen to those 3 songs, along with "Hallelujah", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Imagine" and "Say Something". A couple of their newer songs are "Mad World" and "Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone ". But really you can't go wrong with any of their songs because they are all great. They do cover versions and their own original songs. There has only been one change in the group which is Avi Kaplan (he has a beard) who was the original bass singer left and Matt Sallee replaced him. Avi left the group on good terms and helped them find his replacement Matt Sallee.

Oh boy, so glad to see your first reaction to Pentatonix (PTX). They started on Season 3 (2011) of The Sing-off, a singing competition for acapella groups. They won their season. It's a long and complicated story, but I'll let others tell you some of that. They are well known for their covers and Christmas albums, but they have 2 albums of original music also. They redefined acapella music for the mainstream. There has been one member change in their history. In late 2017, Avi (bass) left for personal reasons, but helped pick his replacement, Matt, which you saw in this video (3rd solo, far left). They have won 3 Grammy Awards, multi-million selling albums, sold out world tours, each member has various side projects, been in movies (Pitch Perfect 2), and so much more. It is a very deep well that you have fallen into. Us fans, Pentaholics, are always excited to find a new reactor to their music. One thing to know is that YT and RCA Records are VERY protective of their work and will copyright claim your videos in a heartbeat if you don't follow all the Fair Use rules. Looking forward to more PTX from you. You really cannot pick a bad song from them. I can't say that about more than a handful of artists in my entire life.

Matt with the whit jacket is the bass but a lot of people think he is a lower Bariton because he can sing so high, (he is in the group since 2017) and he has such a good connection to his deep and high notes Scott the blond guy he is the Bariton, he do the bass when Matt sing, I love his powerful voice and he leads most of the songs Mitch with the mullet is the tenor he can sing really high, the Band members said he is the talented from them Kirstin is the Mezzo she sing also high but I love her lower voice a bit more and she is the only girl Kevin is the beatboxer the master of beats he also play the cello, he is properly a tenor Avi was the Bass bevor Matt he leave the group 2017

I loved the way you just took off the glasses, and dropped the persona, and just sat back and enjoyed the show. I'll tell you the easiest way to pick another song of theirs, is to go to their page, close your eyes and touch the screen, whatever you put your hands on, will be just as awesome as this one, really. Actually there are a couple of songs Hallelujah, and definitely the Daft Punk Melody, you will need to watch both the official video, and the Live or Private performance, otherwise you won't believe they are actually doing it accapella. Without any post production work. While you are there look at how many views some of their song's have. It will blow your mind, they are just that damn good.

Yes Please! More Pentatonix,😍 They have so many songs to choose from. When they first started, they were doing covers of other artists I.e. Lourdes Royals, Daft Punk mashup of songs but put together so well, it becomes it’s own song, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson Evolution song compilations (snippets of several songs one blending into the next - MJ’s Evolution is awesome). the first i heard of them was when I came across the Little Drummer Boy. Must play that around 500 times during the holiday season !

Their (original) “Love Again” is truly mind blowing, as is their “Daft Punk” medley - which they won their first Grammy for. So many others, which I can see already recommended, but these two are my personal favourites

NJ...so glad you discovered PTX. They are truly amazing...their voices are amazing and the beatboxing is amazing and there are no instruments, no post production work, nothing except their voices! I love them. They are diverse also. You might want to check out Daft Punk by them. They are so well versed in a variety of styles. They are just as impressive in person.
