Pentatonix, “please take a bow. Does it get any better than this?” No, NJ, it does not. I was so excited when I saw you had reacted to this song. I agree that this is now my favorite performance. It was amazing, gorgeous and outstanding. I loved Mitch’s solos with Scott and Kirstin and Mitch’s pure angelic voice. I also had goosebumps throughout. 💕💕💕💕
I've finally gotten to where I get chills now instead of balling my eyes out (after watching/listening to this about 50 times, no joke) but when i see them in Newark and they sing this...I'll be a hot mess!!! And no, they haven't done anything better and that's saying A LOT since they've done many masterpieces 💜👏🙌🙏😁
It could never better than this, I loved this cover so much, they all sounded incredible, I love hearing Mitch sing his voice is so beautiful and then Scott too singing in Italian and singing along side Mitch I love when they sing together and then Kirstin too, it was so good. This song and video has become a favourite of mine
No Sir.. It does not get any better. Pentatonix is hands down the #1 A Capella Group in the World! I have been a Pentaholic since day one of Sing Off.. This cover of "The Prayer" is absolutely Gorgeous and proves that they deserve another Grammy!
Scott singing in italian is a real treat.I'm Italian and I can tell you he spelled all the words perfectly.Thank you for this omage to our dearly own Andrea Bocelli.
Yay I’m so glad you did this one, I’ve been obsessed! This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard!! And the whole Christmas album is SO GOOD. Loved your reaction so much as always!! 💙
This is one of the best songs. Of everyone. Of all time. They murdered every part, all of them. I'll never get tired of it, nor will I ever stop tearing up... probably.
Agreed. Instant classic! Absolutely stunning work from every single member! Andre & Celine will be proud! I enjoy Celine singing this with Josh Groban as well. THIS is now my favorite. Mitch soaring & Scott’s Italian & unmatched harmonies!
Love your reaction. Mitch's counter/contra tenor voice and yes, sometimes soprano is powerful and angelic without even going in to falsetto. I was surprised at Scott's spot on Italian pronunciation. Matt's bass coming in at the very end pulled it all together. Listening to Charlotte Church and Josh Groban's version, Mitch hits the keys that Charlotte sings. Amazing.
Your reaction was superb. "Pentatonix take a bow" captures it all. Beautiful video. Beautiful rendition of this song. Giving a message of hope for us all. I said to myself a few months ago that I wished that PTX would do a cover of “The Prayer”. When I saw the AGT performance, I knew it was going to happen. Pentatonix never disappoints. All five of them are indeed masters of their craft - individually and collectively. For this song there was skillful and perfect placing of each member in the arrangement. Mitch at the start and throughout owned this song with conviction, vocal clarity, the notes he hits and holds, his runs, his timing and his precision. Scott with his operatic presentation strong and convincing in linguistic detail. Kirstin with her sharp notes, Matt on the consistent base undertone, Kevin on the strong and well-timed vocal percussion and the arrangement expertly done by Ben Bram. The rich vocals, the tones, the call and response, the harmonizing, building to the crescendo and then the clarity piercing through again. The schedule shows they will be performing in the UK in April 2022.
The ONLY issue, and it is not Pentatonix, but theological. PTX has the most amazing group of voices, and also a vocal orchestra. Thank you Pentatonix for your dedication to excellence in your music. You are living proof of what someone told me, and I quote, "The best instrument God ever created is the human voice."
Timothy, it might let you back down your theological objections to know that the song originally came from an animated movie. The lyrics were more oriented to "A Mother's Prayer" where one of the characters prayed for her daughter's safety as she fled for help after their village was overrun by evil creatures. The movie used Celine Dion as the singing voice of the character. This version came some time after the movie and is the version that Celine and Adrea Bocelli popularized it. Thanks to Carole Bayer Sager who wrote the music.
@@kegginstructure thank you for your comment. I'm more focused on the incredible vocal skills of these young people. Their rendition of the grinch is another masterpiece.
Hi there just looking up your reactions to Pentatonix and sad to see you have not reacted to Hallelujah! The last time I looked it had nearly 69 million views! Would appreciate your reaction to it. Love your reactions ❤ from Scotland 🏴🤩
I keep thinking they've peaked and then they drop something like this. And YES see them live if you can. Got a chance in 2016 and want to see them again.
All my other Pentatonix favourites have just faded into insignificance! This amazing rendition is heavenly, moving, ...... No more words to describe it! Just one complaint - it stopped too soon. I have to keep repeating it. It brings me to tears each time as I believe the message is so meaningful at the moment with the troubles we are going through (especially in Australia) and it reminds us that we must have hope and strength.
I just have to thank you for not pausing it every 10 seconds through the whole song. Way too many reactors do that and it drives me crazy. I refuse to watch a video like that. I do understand you have to pause it once or twice. But just a big thanks for doing it just right! And of course nobody does it better than PTX!!
I love the majority of Pentatonix music but this one is my all time favorite for years to come. I don’t care if it is spring, summer, fall, or Christmas winter, I can listen to this everyday any time of the day. Another favorite of mine is Hallelujah by them. Maybe you can react to that one too.
Can it get any better than this? Of course I think that every time I listen to PTX and then they do something else extraordinary. Beyond the incredible singing, the setting and the lighting just added to this magical rendition of The Prayer. Wow. Thank you for reacting to it NJ!!!
Agreed about the "many layers" (had to listen multiple times to really hear much of what is going on); Glad you enjoyed it too! I'm sure someone mentioned, but they are currently advertising April 2022 tour dates in England...
It does not get any better than this. Thanks for the reaction. I’m on board for any and all PTX. Please consider Anchor. No video but a beautiful song. Thanks
My mom loved this song so much. She died on 5/21/2012 after a very short illness. We played the original of this at the calling hours before her funeral. Since then, I cannot hear OR sing this song without crying my eyes out. Mom, this is for you. I miss you, so so much. Please be ‘our eyes’ and ‘help us to be wise’… RIP EL 10/12/1935-5/21/2012. (And yes, I’ve seen this multiple times and have sobbed every time!)
Great reaction as always. I love your PTX reactions. They are coming to the UK in the spring. I know a few reactors who will be going to the shows. One in London and one in Manchester. I'm going to the Christmas show in a month. YAY! Keep up the good work and thank you for encouraging people to show them support and love. You are one of the few reactors who recommends this.
😋😋😂😂🤣 ..I don't know I can't avoid replying n responding.Though I didn't really mean it...too. sometimes.. mantul/outstanding. ..OMG.... Silly... ridiculous.
They’ll get a Grammy out of this one. If they don’t, I’ve lost faith in humanity. Lol. This one really is amazing. Each one performs at their personal best. The dynamics are delish. Great reaction!
I love that you always comment on their videos and show them some love. PTX continues to outdo themselves with every song/video and this one is no exception. you should check out "I Just Called to Say I Love You" next; I think you'll enjoy it.
Almost every song they presented is about God Himself and His message to us mankind! Wooow I absolutely love their style! And watching them live doesnt change their sounds when they are in Hollywood!
OMG the goosebumps !!! chills down my spine!!! Wonderful, just wonderful. They were due to go to Manchester then covid hit so...hopefully. Crazy, crazy Great reaction.
I thought they couldn't top Hallelujah, then they did Amazing Grace. I thought they couldn't top Amazing Grace and now they've done The Prayer. I can't wait for the next one!!!!!
Have You Pentatonix sing Hallelujah?? They did a X-mas Special A few years ago. So I recommend this one, I think them singing this live is Amazing. I Love This Song. Now I Never Thought Anyone Could Come Any where Close To K.d Lang Singing This Song, But Pentatonix Is A Very Close 2nd For Me,
❤ Pentatonix ! THE BAR HAS BEEN SET Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Standing ovation-worthy! Better late than never on this rendition, yet here we are, and PTX delivered. Thank you, NJ, for the reaction. First time here since you cut your hair. Miss the former look, but you're still worth an eyeful. Peace.
NJ, you do you BUT, there are many reaction channels, and I see your LOGO is sporting Hitler SS symbols, and you have a 'Death Head' wearing a helmet right behind you. Your channel is not for me.
I love this song so much, never think of it as a Christmas song. The way Pentatonix put their special touch on it just gave me chills. I always forget there’s only five of them. Watched their growth from the beginning on the tv show “The Sing Off” 9 years ago and was lucky enough to see them live when they came to Alaska a few years back. They are incredible live! Would love to see them again. Thanks so much for this reaction. I would recommend looking up the old vids from their “Sing Off” performances when they competed against much larger groups and consistently blew the judges socks off each week. “Video Killed the Radio Star” was my fave (sometimes hard to find that vid for some reason) but watch all their season 3, their performances in order, and enjoy the ride 😉
This outdoes the Andrea Bocelli/Celine Dion version both for production (to be fair, they simply stood and sang) but also for vocals. Five people making as much sound as the orchestra and the singers, but also telling the story. Far more inspiring. I love Andrea Bocelli and have for years, but this version upgraded from the original. Scott is singing in Italian and Mitch is actually translating again like the original. And don’t forget they will do this live on tour. One thing especially good about PTX is they never record anything they can’t do live. This was the first song released on their newest album "Evergreen" for the Christmas tour 2021. For this not even being a Christmas song they made it feel that way. Scott said in an interview that all of them found this to be by far one of the hardest arrangements to nail. BUT PTX did it.
Just found you today and i am hooked...you are such a cutie pie!!! LOVE Pentatonix and look forward to much more from you!!! Stay safe and healthy gorgeous
Just subscribed after watching the prayer. I went to see Pentatonix on December 4 in Connecticut. No words can describe how amazing it was. Well I guess the word is amazing but that doesn't even do them justice. I hope you get to see them live too.
Subscribe the first time I saw you many months ago. Your reactions always deserve a thumb up and I always comment to please do more Pentatonix more often. It is now January 4th may your New Year be filled with many blessings and good memories NJ
NJ, Now that we are back into the holiday season, and before you do anymore songs from Pentatonix new Christmas album, please listen to a couple of songs from their last Xmas album. These will be when Avi was with them singing bass. “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” & “Mary Did You Know” I feel sure you will love them.
Kristy does not get enough credit. Her voice is like clear crystal and there isn't a note she can't hit. No one has the clarity Kristy has in terms of her voice projection. They are ALL amazing and God blessed. +
Thank you so much for the reaction. I can't get enough of this rendition, it just defies belief. Although Mitch shines, Scott amazes and Kirsty comes into her own, with Kevin and Matt providing the their usual supreme accompaniment, it's the unity and seamless sharing of harmonies that puts Pentatonix in a league of their own.
