The Hu are a fresh breath of air into the music industry. The centuries old art of Mongolian throat singing - and traditional musical instruments meets heavy metal. And it’s an amazing mix. The words (when translated for us simple folk) really show their pride in their history and culture, and they honor Genghis Khan in some of their songs. They are warriors. When they feature a singer like Lzzy Hale - it adds even more of a fresh and dynamic twist. Please do more of their stuff!

👉The Hu: This band was founded in 2016. The syllable Hu in the band name is the Mongolian root for the word human. The band name roughly translates as 'the people'. The band's logo shows a snow leopard. The band chose this animal because of its mythical significance. Among other things, it is said to be a symbolic animal for ancient Mongolian tribes. The four members of the band, Gala (Singer), Jaya (Singer), Enkush (Mongolian horse head violin, Undertone singing) and Temka (Mongolian Gitarre), all have degrees in music from the Mongolian State Conservatory. Jaya teaches there under his real name G. Nyamjantsan. The HU have modified and strengthened their instruments, which were mostly played sitting down. The Hu call their style of music Hunnu Rock. They use traditional Mongolian musical instruments such as the horse head violin, the Mongolian guitar and also employ traditional Mongolian undertone singing. The Hu are Mongolian. They are awesome live too. Saw them open for Halestorm, Lzzy's band, and American rock band, she is lead singer and rhythm guitarist. The Hu combine rock/metal with Mongolian folk, using a combo of standard guitar, bass, and drums and traditional Mongolian instruments. And using throat singing. The 2 string being played with a bow is a Morin Khuur, the 3 string being played like a guitar is a Tovshuur. 4 members and 4 touring members: Gala and Enkush on Morin Khuur and throat singing Jaya -throat singing, Tumur Hhuur (jaw harp), and Tsuur (end blown flute) Temka -Tovshuur Touring members Ono -percussion Jamba -guitar Davaa -bass Odko -drums. This is a redone version of the original , one of several where they added new English lyrics with guest vocalists. Lzzy wrote the English lyrics to this one. The others are Wolf Totem with Jacoby Shaddix(Papa Roach), Yuve yuve Yu with Danny Case (From Ashes to New), This is Mongol with Wm. Duvall (Alice In Chains), and Black Thunder with Serj Tankian (System of a Down) and DL from Bad Wolves. They also covered Metallica's Sad But True.... in Mongolian.

Glad you got to listen to this masterpiece of a song. My mother went thru hell, got addicted to alcohol, but thankfully got sober. She's passed on but I truly hope she knows how much I love her and how proud I am.😊😊

They are incredible. Most people found out about them when they were used for the soundtrack to a Star Wars video game. Their combination of Mongolian throat singing and traditional instruments combined with modern metal instruments works perfectly.

I love watching peoples faces when they hear this for the first time. Two of my favorite bands combined. Mixing Lzzy’s voice with Mongolian throat singing is epic!

Happy Mother's day!! The 2 stringed instruments are called morin khuurs or horse head fiddles the guitar is called a tovshuur or Mongolian lute. They do throat singing!!

Lzzy is amazing, as are the HU. If you are looking to see some more of Lzzy that will also leave you very emotionally impacted, I would recommend Halestorm's 'I Am The Fire' or 'Break In', where Lzzy duets with Amy Lee from Evanescence.

Lzzy is the G.O.A.T. of female rock vocalists and she is amazing live, even better than on record, check her out with her band Halestorm, the are great, some good ones to start with are, Loves Bites(So Do I), I Miss The Misery, I Am The Fire, many others too numerous name them all.

When you said you hadn't done any background research on The Hu I knew you'd be quite amazed. The portrait images which appear during the video are photos of the band members as children with their mothers (I can't believe nobody else has mentioned that in the comments). I was lucky enough to see the band on their first visit to the UK, in a pretty small venue. It was an excellent evening.

Okay. First, this is an outdated comment. Yes indeed, the Song Of Woman is telling it like it is. Don’t know why I haven’t given you my standard spiel about Hu before. Maybe I have and just forgot. Anyway, second (maybe should have been first) you are just adorable. So. Having said that here’s my aforementioned spiel. Just stuff I’ve read. Mongolia is the most sparsely populated country. 30% of the people are nomadic. They have been invaded but never conquered. In the video Wolf Totem one of the bikers was the president of Mongolia. Genghis Khan and company took over contiguous more territory than anyone. I say contiguous because Britain had more territory albeit separated by various oceans and seas. The Mongolian hoards were bloodthirsty killers but brought relative peace and order to a brutal world. If you joined them their reputation (and armed force if necessary) protected you. If not, you died. Hmm. Im having my weekly vodka and tea now or I wouldn’t be writing this but I feel like I’m forgetting something. Oh yeah. Just so you know. I’m 75 and tired of young hotties lusting after my body alla time so don’t get any ideas. Okay? 😊 Don’t know why I’m sending this since I don’t expect a reply. Just for amusement I guess.❤
