Fucking undoubtedly. This is the ONE artist that I still swear to the heavens and back sounded even better live. I still do not have the words to convey to people who are not there what it was really like. Fan or not... It's undeniable in the moment. From oh wah ah ah ah to sound of silence... It booms your soul. Lol! This mf don't play. Whoever shows up.. He/they will show up for. Here's a personal experience I'll never forget: About 30 mins into the set - There was a terrible storm, branches flying. About an hr of that, when it suddenly stopped and about 25 people emerged from the bathrooms to find an empty field full of nature's debris. Lol And this mfr standing on the stage like a little speck in the distance, waving everyone left down to the pavilion. They waited it out too, and they gave us the show of a lifetime. 25 or 25000. If you show up, they show up. You don't give that level of performance to that little of an audience if you do not respect the hell out of your fans and your own art. Never respected a band more after that.
It's not just his amazing voice that makes this version of the song so moving, but the orchestra, too. It all builds to an incredible crescendo. Such a contrast to the silence he is singing about. I can't get this song out of my mind ❤
@@youknowwho9247 it's a abomination. A poor man's version of a great song. I wonder how many people on here saying how great it is ever heard the original. They probably thing it's a original Disturbed song.
Open your minds a little folks. It is a magnificently performed juxtaposition of the original. This cover does not improve or take away anything from Paul and Art's version, it is merely bringing more people to the classics. They have been quite vocal about who wrote and performed the song. I believe, quite strongly, that this version and the video have captured the essence of our world today. I'm 61, I know the songs of the era and they will always stand out as some of the best music ever, why be threatened by a totally different interpretation of this song, that stays incredibly true to the meaning of a beautifully written statement of the times we live in and the condition of the human race.
He adapted this song to fit him/them. I don't believe that it was a great fit without a fresh creative take. That said, I'd love to see more as this is my favorite piece from them.
I think there are many people who completely underrate metal singers, and how hard it is to do the vocals they normally do. Their vocal talent is impressive.
If you think this version is amazing you should hear him sing it when he doesn't have a cold! He was sick as a dog that night and still gave an amazing performance!
Honestly the first time a solo male singer gave me goosebumps. AMAZING VOICE. He totally made this song feel like it wasn't written for S&G to sing. It was made for him. 💜💜💜
The first time I heard this man sang this sing, I had to hear it over and over. His range was amazing. I like it it better than the original. How he went from low to high, he had my attention. I agree he needs to sing more songs like that. So AMAZING!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
I'm a huge Simon and Garfunkel fan. When my younger brother died of cancer his kids picked this song sung by disturbed. Every time I hear him sing it gives me shiver and brings tears to my eyes. He is truly an amazing singer that can bring a classic song and make it better.
Man.. This mans voice is of legend... He could sing anything in his own way and it would be extremely clean.. Full of emotions... And his ability to convey his tone.... Gift from god.❤
This always gives me goosebumps and I have heard it hundreds of time now. David's voice is so underrated among music and the band itself is so undervalued!
I've always loved this song but this young man gives it the Voice. Thanks to P.S. for writing it and thanks to this young man for taking it to the next level.
That's because David is one of a kind, the control he has over his voice is tremendous. The way he can effortlessly change pitch and tone. Thing of beauty
The first time I heard this song I broke down in tears. Our son, Michael was killed on #MontageMountain in #Scranton#Pennsylvania by a Drunk Driver. It was the exact path he was forced to take that deadly night. I reached out to #Disturbed and their management. I found out that that #Disturbed would be playing on the same venue my son was on. God bless them all. They absolutely did it . They dedicated this song to our son. I'm forever grateful to them ❤🙏❤. It's on RU-vid #DisturbedDedication under at Montage Mountain the Sound of Silence.
That’s awesome, 2 generations digging the same music! My adult sons and I recently saw Nine Inch Nails, I’m almost 60 and I’m not sure who enjoyed it more!
I love this song so much but I think for the first time hearing him sing it I am in absolute tears,it's stirring so many emotions from memories that hurt so much but from a love I once had..
Well, I am 70+, love S & G's fabulous répertoire - andI really Love this version. He has kept the melody and all the pent up feelings that we felt in the original. What a Voice !! 💜💜
He's done a beautiful job of agreat song . Now it has gotten better .I listen to it every time I watch our service people with their K-9 dogs . AMAZING ! POWERFUL SONG WITH PIWERFUL VIDEOS 😮😮❤❤❤❤❤❤😢😢
David Draiman is just… powerful! His vocals, who he is as a person, the unity in the crowd he creates touring with Distrubed. I’ll never forget seeing them in concert, him opening up about the members of the band struggling with mental illness and addiction. He asked anyone in the arena who struggled with that to raise a fist, then had the house lights turned on. He was showing us just how many people around us share the same struggles. So powerful. This man is amazing!
@@MatthewSmith-eg2dl I grew up listening to Paul Simon singing it (use to play it on CD a lot), and honestly, I love both versions. Two totally different feels to it, but I love them both.
@@MatthewSmith-eg2dl The idea of a good cover version is to take the track and put your own spin on it making it your own song, as opposed to just doing a carbon copy of the song. He is singing similar to how he does on other Disturbed songs. Personally, I like both and I actually prefer this version. Listen to David Bowie's Ziggy stardust (which I love) and then listen to Bauhaus cover and hear Bauhaus' spin on the classic Bowie track.
@@MatthewSmith-eg2dlYou obviously have NO CLUE what you're talking about........ I'd venture to say that singular like under your comment was given by yourself.....
This guy is my favorite male singer and the band is dope. I’ve been a fan of this band since the 2000s after working out at 5 am in the gym , hearing Down with the Sickness play all the time. And I’m a black woman❤❤❤
My favorite rendition of this song. His voice brings such force and meaning to a song that before was done too pretty and the message was lost. There is no way that someone could not feel the meaning of the lyrics when sung by him. Outstanding
That is one of the best songs ever written. It says everything you need to know and everything you need to say and everything you need to hear. I can't hear the words already you're not listening then You need to keep listening until you hear The Words
There’s no other musician that will ever come close to mastering this masterpiece like David Draiman has. I bet Paul Simon can agree to that. I believe that I saw an interview that stated that Paul was completely blown away by David’s performance and his take on the song. David is a phenomenal singer and performer. I love when a metal musician takes a song that can show off their abilities that they are actually great singers and not just all screaming. I love metal music but man people don’t realize that a lot of these singers have amazing voices.
@fionagreene8611 ever since I saw him on stage playing this song it's been a song I listen to often. Mike the drummer is part owner of a restaurant/craft brewery with a concert venue in back for local bands in Oconomowoc Wisconsin. If you ever get out to Wisconsin it's a great place with great food and beer. The restaurant is Steel Tank Brewery has a military theme to the restaurant and the concert venue is RallyPoint in back of the restaurant.
I have been listening non stop since yesterday. The The sound of SILENCE is so powerful. Just like Rumi said You are not just a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in that 💧 Thank you all for being droplets of oceans and your purposes here on earth 🩷♾️🦋
