You know I have to show up and subject you to even more useless top info... the band actually put on a ridiculously complex alternate reality game with the release of this song. Fans had to work together via Discord, Reddit, and Twitter to solve bizarre and difficult puzzles and codes to unlock levels of USB folders full of unreleased song demos and clues. Tyler said they did it to give fans a break from the loneliness and isolation of quarantine. 🖤

You have to remember that twenty one pilots fan base is largely young people fighting depression and mental health issues like a lot of people. Twenty one pilots is where they get a lot of their hope and encouragement from you keep moving forward. This song was sort of a shout out to their fans to let them know that it’s going to be all right, and it led to the world’s longest music video as fans would create their own video from this song and put it online. I forget how long it ended up being, but it gave skeleton click some thing to do to encourage each other

i feel the same as ryan, covid was not a productive time for me, i didn't learn any new skills. tyler's mum mentioned to him during lockdown that she wanted some happy music to take her mind of what was happening and he wrote this song and then they recorded and released it really quickly. they donated some of the proceeds of this song to 'Crew Nation' to support touring crews and venue staff who were out of work during the pandemic. their album 'Scaled and Icy' was mostly written during the pandemic.

Tyler wrote the SAI album during quarantine in OH. With Josh who was in LA. But this one's not on an album. It was released in the summer right during the lockdowns in the US when live shows, gatherings, and outings were canceled. They donated proceeds from this single and merch to Crew Nation, the entertainment crew hands, because no one knew if or when live shows were coming back. And then there was Tyler and Josh, who for all intents and purposes, consider themselves a live band, and essential to connect to the audience and tour. They live for the energy and support the fans create. Tyler has shared that the quarantine really affected him, as it did for a lot of people. His Mother encouraged him to create something more upbeat, hence this song and then the conept for Scaled and Icy coming out of the pandemic. Tyler has said that he thought it would be better to have something more positive then dark and down on the other side of all that. This next upcoming album is supposed to conclude the Dema storyline so it'll likely be a mix. Yeah, their Level of Concern for their fans is evident in everything they do. They're both from the same neighborhood. Tyler still lives in Ohio, I think. Last time I heard, Debby Ryan and Josh Dun live in Los Angeles due to her career. I understand y'all didn't know but she's kinda a big deal.

AND they donated money from song to the unemployed people in industry who couldn't work... the only group who did this at time no one else doing ANYTHING!

I really enjoy that corporate goth right see you these introductions to give you some context behind the song going into it. As far as Covid quarantine goes, though I live in part of the country where Covid had absolutely no impact on my life other than maybe the first two weeks it was a thing. After that, we only knew it was happening, because the news and telling us, so so I didn’t learn anything new either
