Great reaction! I love the sound of this song. Especially the drums. They feel like a heart that’s in an unstable rhythm. A heart that’s merely fluttering. They help set the tone that we can find ourselves in a space where our life could sputter out. But the piano keeps that steady rhythmic flow. This is such a profound piece of art!

For whatever reason, some folks, artists, actors, ordinary people don't feel appreciated enough for the effort they produce, and it's not until they take their own life that they get the attention they crave. In the end of the song he talks about using that act as a form of aggression. "I'll show them" , "You'll regret not appreciating me more", The act is in fact used as an attempt to ge5 back at someone for something, ie. Wife leaves and takes the kids, husband is more angry than sad, and in an attempt to get back at her, he offs himself. Maybe he gets royally screwed by the divorce court so he offs himself to deny her the alimony and child support. Who has he hurt more, the Wife who left him, or the Kids he has now deprived of a dad? "Promise me This, if I lose to myself, you won't mourn a day, and you'll move on to someone else." To me that says, if im so weak that I can't fight off those thoughts, I'm not to be mourned, or celebrated. I was weak and lazy. Back up. "I'll teach them!" No you won't teach me, because I'm refusing that lesson. Only thing you'll teach me is how weak of character you are. "Don't let "It" be Glorified". Let's not make excuses or celebrate the act, instead, look to and celebrate those who persevere through it all and come out the other side a survivor, a winner. I thought someone had already mentioned it, but it seems that's not the case. Tyler really had to convince their record company and fight to get that song on the record, because they considered it as a too heavy topic and wording. But Tyler told them it's important and their fans will understand it. And he was right. That song was always a powerful moment during the tour.

love this song and reaction! i think sometimes celebrities that die young, particularly from mental health issues, are maybe not glorified but are certainly given lots of attention in the media and everyone talks about how tragic it was, after they die but often society judges and ridicules them for their struggles when they are alive and the media loves sharing stories of celebrities having breakdowns and stuff. i think it's important to have different sorts of supports available for those that need a challenge or those that just need to be told they're not alone.
