ZZ Top has been around for a LOOOOONG time. Jimi Hendrix once told Billy that he was destined for greatness. High praise indeed! My brother once got to back Billy up on stage (my brother plays Bass professionally) and he is genuinely one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
I was lucky enough to see them in Jackson, MS in 1981, Grand Funk opened for them. My 1st real concert as a teenager, and they were FANTASTIC. An amazing amount of sound for 3 guys. You really should check out "Tube Snake Boogie". Funny and funky AF. 😊✌️
This song is about a real home out on the range. It was a little brothel known as the Chicken Shack. During the Great Depression when men could not afford a woman they could pay for it with a chicken.
I caught a Live performance in a DIVE BAR in Atlanta. They just showed up... talked to the manager, who would have been a fool to say no, and took the stage. No announcement. No advance notice. If you were there... you saw it... it you weren't... you heard about it. I was there. They wanted to play... they wanted to FEEL THE PEOPLE... they wanted it dirty... they wanted it grungy. We were HONORED that night...
Thank you, finally someone does. Z z. I've seen them at least 8. Times in Houston ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥. At a small bar even before the beards. They get down 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶. R.i.p dusty hill. He died last year. When billy first started playing. He played with Jimi Hendrix for awhile. 💖💖💖
"That home out on the range..." was made into a Dolly Parton movie, "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" for those of you who don't know the reference. It was an actual house of prostitution made famous when a local sheriff was videoed coming out of the place by a muckracking Houston TV reporter. The very first MTV video I ever watched was seen in a college bar in Clarion Pennsylvania. It was ZZ Top "Legs." That is still e of my favorite videos of all time, also starring the same car, a later video called "Sharp Dressed Man."
I have been fortunate to have seen “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas” Live 4 times. I recorded the last show (Full HD) before Dusty passed away. Always an awesome show. You must see many other tunes from them including “Rough Boy” (official video)…. “Same three guys, same three cords, for five decades” - Billy Gibbons at last show.
Check out George Thoroughgood & the Destroyers.." house rent blues" until a couple years ago I thought that thoroughgood sang this. Amazing to find out it was zztop. Dang..
Yep, they sure do make it look easy don't they? Check out Heard It On The X for one that is really rocking and super tight and is somewhat autobiographical.
Hello, could you, or would you do a reaction of Johnny Cash's Live version of his song: (THE MAN IN BLACK!) Thank you for all the great music and reactions!!
