Great choices! Sabaton are another one of those bands on my list of "Every song I've heard is incredible but I've just not heard more for some reason" bands.

I wasn't into metal for the longest time (the pandemic changed alot for many people didn't it) so I had never heard anything from (or about) Amaranthe up until 2021. Now they are the metal band with the most albums on my shelf (well, head to head with the (mostly) humorous German medieval metal group Feuerschwanz). I checked them out after I heard their drummer, Morten (unlike the other members he is Danish), with his side project/ second band The Dark Side Of The Moon, a multi-national symphonic metal supergroup. Besides him, the project consists of vocalist Melissa Bonny (from the French speaking part of Switzerland, her main band is the symphonic metal group Ad Infinitum, was guest singer for Kamelot during their recent tour), guitarist Hans Platz (from Feuerschwanz) and harpist Jenny Diehl (one of Feuerschwanz' back-up dancers/ stage & video preformers under the stage name Mieze Myu [Kitty Myow], she was guest musician with her harp on a few of their songs credited under her real name). During their live shows they get support by German bassist Korbinan Benedict (also from Ad Infinitum) while on the studio recordings the bass is played by Italian bassist & producer Fabio Trentini (worked with Guano Apes and H-Blockx, to name a few). Charlotte Wessels was guest vocalist on their second single May It Be (Lord of the Rings cover, original by Enya). Nils Molin, the clean singer of Amaranthe, was guest singer for Ad Infinitum on their song Afterlife.

A lot of cool info in there! Feuerschwanz are a band I've only heard passing mention of as a result of enjoying Dark Side of the Moon and Ad Infinitum (Melissa Bonny is an incredible vocalist). I also did hear their cover of May It Be, I'm a massive fan of Charlotte and loved that cover! That's cool to know about Nils Molin as well, I do find it amazing how everyone in the European metal community seems to all know each other, and they love to collab and crossover in so many ways. Fantastic stuff when you're a fan.

@@AdamGaffney96 Yes, they do know each other and there are lots of collaborations, even across the borders of record labels. You probably know already , but Ad Infintum was meant to be a solo project of Melissa so she recorded the debut single (I Am The Storm) with members of Delain. In regards to Feuerschwanz, you probably should at least check out the two covers they've made with Melissa as a guest. The first was Ding (Thing), original by the German based multi-national dancehall/ reggae/ hip hop group Seeed. That is the one which eventually led to the founding of The Dark Side Of The Moon (you know the story about the bet between Melissa and Hans?). The second one is Warriors of the World United, original by US power metal/ true metal band ManOwar. This one also features Thomas Winkler (Angus McSix, ex-Gloryhammer) and Saltatio Mortis (represented by vocalist Alea der Bescheidene). Ding is more of an upbeat fun song, WotWU plays more on the epic hymn side.

Such a good reaction so i´m going to give some info on the band! About the sound: This is their only symphonic metal song, their other songs are more electronic. About Nils: He actually sings in a power metal band Dynazty! About Gothic metal: NO it is not specifically female fronted there is a lot of male fronted gothic metal, what is important is the subject matter not really the sound. Early Lord Of The Lost is a good example of more industrial gothic metal: Dry The Rain, Six Feet Under etc. more of their older songs their newer songs are more glam metal now. Gothic metal is mostly about the dark and things other people find scary, death, roses, the dark, moths, bats all of those are prevalent in gothic metal. Because being Goth is about seeing the beauty in the dark and macabre. Also another band with three vocalists I know is Temperance and one with seven vocalists Van Canto. For Temperance I would recommend The Last Hope In A World Of Hopes. For Van Canto I would recommend Falling Down since that is from the album where the three leads all shine, in Van Canto's case one song might have mainly the male lead or mainly the female lead and they do beautiful covers as well.

I agree that Gothic Metal isn't specifically female fronted, but bands labelled as Symphonic Metal in near enough every case I've seen are always female fronted! I think I prefer Gothic Metal as a label for the sound in general also so I'll be using that going forward. I'll add Dynazty to my list as I've not heard of them and I loved Nils' voice! As for Van Canto I have listened to them quite a bit but I'd love to react to something new by them as their concept is so interesting. Thanks for the detailed comment and plenty of recc's for me to use going forward, and glad you enjoyed the reaction!
