I don’t think you’ve seen very young Angelina-and that’s a big door to open. She’s amazingly good, stunningly good. Elton John wrote the melody and the lyrics were written by his long time collaborator Bernie Taupin who sometimes wished to get off the whirlwind with Elton and go back to his roots. Although Angelina's version started like Sara Bareilles' version of this song, obviously she took off on her own and may have added a subtle dig at Simon for not winning because she didn't sign with his production company 😊
Another commenter suggested Good in Goodbye is about Simon , whom Angelina was infatuated with since she was three and was betrayed during this competition. Yellow Brick Road also is about being dissed by the music industry. Simon said he was surprised she chose this song. And AJ looks so sad while singing and after she’s done.

Angelina sang this song in the Finals at America's Got Talent, The Champions. She failed to make the top 5, which is perfectly fine as she got great exposure and didn't have to deal with any contract putting her under Simon's control. I like to believe, but have no proof, Simon created The Champions edition of AGT specifically to have Angelina perform on his stage. The Champions edition ended after this 2nd season.

Not the biggest fan of the sort of modern day female pop singer voice. Thought I'd give it a listen, though. Sounded just like I thought she would, because that's what these seem to sound like. Much of a muchness. Is there like a school of vocal coaches they all attend?
Angelina is primarily self-taught she has never had an ongoing vocal coach - GYBR provides just a taste of how she sings - Angelina can sing almost any Genre - primarily jazz, but also pop, country, blues, soul, disco, edm, and can also rap. Her music library is extensive ( over 150 complete performances) and has been singing since age 1 1/2 - professionally since age 8. Angelina has been writing songs since she was 10 years 0ld - So far 12 have been released: Oslo, What is Life?, Shield, Million Miles, 7th Heaven, Love Don't Let Me Go, Now I'm The Fool, Fire and Rain, All My Fault, Good in Goodbyes, Diamond, and Our Time. Angelina has stated that she has written about 100 songs that have yet to be released. Her songs are taken from her Journal writings. When she was 10/11 she rewrote the Lyrics to Amy Winehouse's Back to Black and Rehab to make them more age-appropriate at that time. She is now 17 (turns 18 on Jan 10m 2024).
if you are judging angelina on just one performance, especially on a time limited agt champions show at just aged 13 .you are making a bid mistake to believe angelina is much of a muchness .she has her own unique voice and style .I suggest you listen further before making that judgement , if there's other artists as angelina I would look forward to to a great listening experience .

Let me inform you briefly. before he made it big himself he made a living by performing covers . played in a band that performed covers . that's brief . angelina was aged 13 and as many artists before her gain experience by performing covers , hundreds , thousands of artists have done the same before angelina, one such artist was ADELE .😊

She said in a recent on-line stream that she has written over 100 songs so far, all from her Life Journals she has been writing since she was 6 yo or younger. Btw, many of her cover songs are better than the originals, Imo, so give her a break.
