The AWB was a Scottish funk & R&B band that had a series of soul & disco hits between 74 & 80. That had some good songs such as "When Will You Be Mine", "Let's Go Around Again", "Cut The Cake", "A Love Of Your Own" etc. But the instrumental song "Pick Up The Pieces" in 1975 was their biggest hit.

This was a big disco hit at the clubs back in the '70s. It was a real floor filler, as were some of their other hits like 'Cut the Cake', and my favorite, 'Work to Do', which was a cover of the original by the Isley Brothers.
I didn't like a whole lot of the music that was produced and rode the charts during the disco era, but I love this! The is funk so silky smooth that even a lame white guy can get a groove on with it. These fellows, Tower of Power, and maybe another handful of others made music that rose above the genre they were born into.
That was a great reaction, Thank you. I hope you'll listen to some more AWB, because that instrumental was HOT, but they have some amazing songs with vocals. Like: "Love of Your Own", "School Boy Crush", "Cut the Cake", "Person To Person", "Work To Do". There are a few cool videos of them playing live on "Soul Train". I like to go back and watch. Much love to you and the channel.
Great reaction Tasha! I highly recommend AWB's - Work To Do and A Love of Your Own (both live at Montreux 1977). Make sure Hubby is with you for those!
Listen to these next: Cut the Cake, Cloudy, and Person to Person, from their Person to Person live album. These are so different and much better than their studio versions. Studio versions of these: School Boy Crush has such a fat bass you will gain 10 pounds! Let’s Go ‘Round Again Work to Do, a great Isley Brother’s song. The Jugglers, it is so funky! A Love of Your Own
Nowadays, the name of the band will set the sensitive ones off. However, this song is on my playlist with my Retro Songs that I can seat-dance to in my car when I need to stay awake.
Awesome band, saw them live when Angus rejoined them at Jazz Cafe in London way back in the day. But yeh, a lot of Michael Jackson's songs, and more than a few of Doobie Brothers were influenced by a Scot, the late Rod Temperton.. check him out. Oooh, and do look out for Chaz Jankel, he wrote and recorded Ai No Corrida before Quincey Jones had a hit with it.
You would be better served hearing the studio version of the song . You don't need a video to appreciate the music, and the studio recording of this is much cleaner
