Not knowing the BAND-MAID backstory and not reading the CC this song would be way out of context for anyone with 1 or 2 songs under their belt. The ladies were very emotional in this one and added thank you lyrics for the fans for 10 years of support. Song 33 in 3.5 hours. Springsteen would be proud. Try and speak a little Japanese and the Maids will thank you.
I'm glad i'm 10hrs late, JK. BAND-MAID, Babymetal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie...etc...etc. May as well lump them altogether cos they all sound the same cos they're from Japan. DUH!😒
They’re not ready yet. I don't think they want to They don’t even pronounce the band name “one ok rock” correctly. They don’t even know the historical background. What about other bands?
@@GaryHolloway-810 Gary, there are plenty of English speaking singers who I don't always understand. But if I like the music and melody and the way the singer projects the lyrics then I'm good with that. Which happens a lot for me with BAND-MAID. On a new song without seeing the lyrics on screen I'll rarely catch the English. I believe Asami lived in the US for awhile yet I can't understand her singing English. That's why they loved FROM NOW ON. 🤣
@@GaryHolloway-810 I know you weren't commenting about me. I was just spewing my thoughts about foreign singers speaking English. The reactors had a major problem with Saiki's English. So these guys better stick with the instrumentals. Honesty is the best policy and helps the viewer make their own choice to continue or not. 😎 Hey I saw that Kanami said the album is finished and was starting to record something on her own. Very interesting comment. 🎸🎵
Hey guys, its totally your peragative to not not vibe with a song or a group. But there are better ways of expressing that in an honest way so as not to be offensive to the group or its fandom. 1 - is by not comparing them to a group or style of music you obviously prefer. 2 - is by not making comments like, "I feel like this has gone on too long" or " I've seen cover bands or covers of bands better than this" or "This is G level material compared to what Babymetal has done " There are nuanced ways of providing an honest reaction and respectful to the material. I'm okay if you never do another Band-Maid reaction as I don't think there is anything for you here. Don't be one of those channels that starts crying about pushback and toxic fans after being disrespectful to the group and by extension its passionate fan base.
No accounting for taste. I don't agree with your opinions. There is room for personal preference, not for absolutes. The lead vocalist does not have the greatest power and range. She does excel in emotive performance and delivery of cadences. Your specific critique of her voice breaking is out of context with the situation. This was their 10 year anniversary concert. This was the last song of a 3 hr 45 min set. The emotions for the band was running off the charts.
Friends, it was not the right song for your profile and musical knowledge. You have not detected what type of band you had in front of you and that is considered, by many and me too, to be the best rock band of this century worldwide, I mean male, female or alien. Regarding the comments and the way you did… well, they can be annoying and even arrogant, impertinent for many of the fans. Good luck because you are going to need it in your reactions and, please, do not try to be a sniper in a war because you are going to miss all the shots, for sure, and it is not the fault of the weapon nor is it the fault of the enemy because they move a lot... is because you don t know how to shoot. Easy. Try to react about 'chicken wings flavours'
To bad you did not have the CC on and it was more like 33 song setlist and 3 1/2 hour show. This was an anthem song for *BAND-MAID* and they perform this song at Daytona Welcome To Rockville of 2023 and it was amazing. 🤗
You guys totally whiffed on this review. First, you need to turn on the closed captions to get the context of Saiki's speech. This was at the end of a 3+ hour concert where they belted out over 30 songs. The band was thanking the fans for their support for the past 10 years because it was thanks to them for watching and sharing their first music video "Thrill" is why they are still together. The band even added an extra verse to this song just for this concert and occasion. Also, don't compare Band-Maid to Baby Metal because that's like comparing apples to oranges. One is a group of musicians who write, compose and perform their own music and the other is an idol group who do choreography with a backing band. There's nothing wrong with either they're just different. Finally, you need to let us know what you're into so we can make better recommendations. Do you want guitar, drums, bass or vocals? Do you want fast, slow, poppy, punk or metal? May want to give it another go.
Leave them alone, it's disgusting, you don't have to react to Band-Maid again, so stop making fun of Japanese people!! Go ahead and laugh!! Your Japanese must be pretty good?🤣
It's great to be 'honest'. It actually saddens me when I see reactors deliberately praising a song or performance that they don't like. However, to be honest means that that reactor's knowledge, appreciation of music, and sense of taste are honestly revealed. ―― Yes, it also exposes to the viewers his/her narrow knowledge, poor understanding, and lack of respect for the music and its performers. That is very scary, isn't it?
@IslandVibes57 Haha, you better work on your reading comprehension skills. Because any opinion will give the same impression when you apply your stereotypical interpretation to it. (^_^)v
@@MCLHEF Yeah... he/she is a poor sad person, isn't he/she? He/She doesn't realize that he/she is cursing at his/her reflection in the mirror. No, it's more comical than sad?...... 😝
You are right. Lately I have come to be able to somewhat identify personalities by the expressions on the reactors' faces. Like it or not, unfortunately, more and more people seem to have no sense of care or respect for listeners or artists.
Not your fault at all. You guys walked into the middle of a movie without any context or explanation. This song, and a couple others, are absolutely not for new listeners. My apologies for you getting tossed like that. “Endless Story” is for seasoned listeners and fans of the band who know their entire history. Terrible selection for new listeners. Fans of the band at that show were sobbing in the aisles. Saiki’s voice breaking at the end was her overwhelmed emotions at what was happening in the moment. Just like when Rod Stewart started crying during his live acoustic performance of “Have I Told You Lately.” Band Maid is an exceptional group of musicians with an eclectic catalog. I argue they have the widest musical range of any modern musical artist bar none. And their journey from the dream of a 19 year old Japanese girl to a powerhouse rock band in Yokohama Arena is worthy of a full length feature film. You started with “From Now On,” which is exactly the song Saiki chooses for opening festivals where few people know them. Perfect for song #1. Here’s a few choices to get you back into the proper lane of travel. Let us know when you’re ready for something wild. “DICE,” OMV “the non-fiction days,” OMV “Don’t you tell ME,” LIVE from the same Yokohama show “Moratorium,” LIVE “Onset,” LIVE another instrumental Any of these songs will land easier for anyone unfamiliar with the band. Someday, after a few dozen songs and watching the documentaries on the band, return to this song. Your reactions will be completely changed, guaranteed 🤘🏽
I am an Ascap and BMI published artist. Band Maid with it's superior composition ability and time signature changes throughout many of their compositions are obviously far above your unknown musical abilities and apparent novice musical comprehension. You are both just Another group of pretenders to avoid!
From Japan I don't mean to say that this song is the last song of 3 hours and 30 minutes and 33 songs. I don't think it's because her ability to control the crowd or convey emotions is inferior. I'm just saying that there are people who can't feel it. When people feel that it's not theirs, they start looking for things they don't like and don't try to see the good in it. However, they should know that there were many ordinary fans who watched this song with tears in their eyes.
Just from a business model standpoint point, could you imagine anyone making disparaging comments about their honest reactions without any obvious understanding of the subject at hand that their donor graced them with their donations. Honestly? What’s the point of all this?
When you were comparing this to the same vocal pattern from BABYMETAL, were you aware that Band-Maid came out with this four years before BABYMETAL's song with the same pattern? It wouldn't be Su saying, "Wait, that's our song!" It would be Band-Maid hearing BABYMETAL and saying, "Wait, that's OUR song!" By the way, I love both bands, but Band-Maid did do this first.
Well that was difficult to sit through. 😂 As your name says, Honest Reactions, so your opinion is your opinion. TBH, this song, from this show in particular, was not the best song for a first time listen to Saiki, as a new listener you will have no history or context to what's happening. This was their 10th Anniversary Tour Finale and during this song the Maids were very emotional and if the CC was on, you would have seen Saiki thanking the fans for their support and because of the fans, they have made here to their 10th Anniversary. They play this song as a song for fan appreciation. They even added a special verse for this show, just to immortalize this moment with thank you in mind for the fans. "For making today Possible. For letting our voices join together, Thank you! From now, always. We'll never forget this view shared with you." The crack you heard was her emotions coming out... BTW...this was song 33 on the night on a 3hr and 40min concert, where Saiki did sing 29 of those songs. As for the English, she does have an accent, but English is obviously not her first language and I'll give you her English is not as good as some of the Japanese singers. But heck, some singers in the US can speak proper English either...Context. I like Baby Metal, One OK Rock, Lovebites, Nemophila, Maximum the Hormone and a whole bunch of other groups/singers/bands. But I don't compare them side by side to throw shade on one band. Do I prefer some over the other if were ranking them, sure, but I don't criticize one over. Especially since other than being Japanese, all of them are different. Whether it be idol/metal, hard rock, metal, speed metal, death metal and some crossover. And saying one member of another band should do this a song for another bands member...that's disrespectful. Especially since most of these bands are friends and support each other. Honest opinions can remain honest...but really...you could have just said, "I did not like that song. It's just not in my wheelhouse." "She sounded like she was straining on this song. Hey let us know if there was something going on with her voice". BTW...again for context and not trying to throw shade on any band, as I love all of these bands...Single show setlist...Baby-Metal setlist shows 10 to 12 songs. One OK Rock, 16 to 18 songs. Band-Maid US tour 18 to 22 songs and in Japan usually 22 to 23. Well, I hope you continue with Band-Maid as they are a wonderful band. And if you don't, it's OK and thank you for reacting to the Maids. PO!🕊 🤟😆🤟
Hey all, I believe BAND-MAID Hate? is out sometime this week so perhaps this ends up simply being an outlier of a reaction. As for which songs should be listened to and in which order, well Endless Story, Hate? and Domination were all suggestions in the comment section for Band-Maid (From Now On). So, everybody is going to have preferences, and expanding on that everybody is possibly not going to like everything. Now, I love Endless Story. I think it stands alone without any explanation and it was actually the first song / video I showed a friend, and her first comment was 'she looks like she's barely holding on'. She noted body language and crowd interaction and felt the 'gravity' of the situation. That was her perception, and she loved the performance more because she made the connection rather than me giving a back story. Now that is not going to be everyone's experience. Some people want to know 'this was the last song of a marathon set and Saiki is really emotional'. That might alter the way someone reacts it may not. In the end I'm not fussed with a reaction if it is how someone honestly feels in the moment. Now, I may respect the opinion and honesty but yeah, delivery was very rough. No reason honesty can't be couched in a little respect for the artist, and the comparisons between various bands . . not cool. Apologies if that comes across as too harsh especially after making the point of being honest and respectful. All that said, on to more BABYMETAL, BAND-MAID, Hanabie and whatever else comes our way. ~ Tabitha
I guess they will react to Hate? the complete other way and praise them 😄 Maybe they will come back to this song at a later time and actually enjoy it 😊 Take care fellow Maidiac ✌️
I'm sorry if this is the first BAND-MAID for you. It's not representative for what they do...even though they put in a slow song here and there. This version is more for the fans (lyrics are important) I hope you'll check out more of their songs. They are really awesome and fantastic musicians and song writers. Check out songs like Moratorium, Domination, Puzzle, Dice....and more!
You guys totally missed the boat on this song......this was the final song at their 10th Anniversary 3 1/2 hour show and the crowd went crazy!!!!!! SHOW some freckin RESPECT !!!!! No scribe from me
BABYMETAL 🤘🦊🤘 is forever my number 1 but give these ladies more chances. They have many amazing songs and have quickly become one of my favorites too. Secret my Lips, Puzzle, Dice, Play, Different are some of my favorites. She does have a beautiful voice. As others said this was a loooooooooong performance.
I wish more of the comments were like this, although the ones I've read so far are, thankfully, measured. (There's probably the crazy 1% down there somewhere, who should just be ignored.) But yeah, this a special song for AFTER somebody understands how intense and musically intricate Band-Maid usually are.
@@stevehall5128These reactors should be more measured in their statements. “I’ve heard better cover bands”… seriously? That, along with the other comments, is just begging to make the fans a little bit upset, and understandably so.
I've been to see Babymetal twice & both times they were awesome. But i'm a Maidiac thru & thru & i don't like them disrespecting BAND-MAID by calling them "G League".
Seriously guys, why do western reactors always compare to Baby metal. Baby metal is not even a band. They are a theatre production. In Japan, absolutely nobody would compare the two. One is a band, one is an Idol group. It’s like comparing a concert to Disney on ice. No offence to Baby metal fans. I’m not a fan, but have met members of Idol groups and they are some of the hardest working performers in the Industry, respect.
@@CHRISCONTEPSS sorry it’s the only one I could think of at the time. The point is Baby Metal is a production with sole rights and ownership belonging to the production company. To the average listener they neither care or understand the difference, but to a musician ( I’m not one) there are very big differences. In Japan people are fans of both but definitely don’t see them as the same thing. A lot of people in Japan are actually fans of the production companies and will follow any new group put together by that company. Johnny’s, now known as Smile-Up is one of the biggest idol group ( boy band) production companies in Japan with a fan club membership of over 3 million.
@@davidcarroll3312 No worries. I get it. . .I have thougt of Babymetal as a music theater production since day one. It just made me laugh because I was in DOI for 5 years touring. . . . so I'm very aware. . . although I think Babymetal is a much better production and doesn't sell snow cones and plastic swords in their merch section. . . lol Saw both bands last year. They are both awesome live!!!!! :)
There’s no reason for anyone to have to judge a band or a song only after experience (i.e., knowing that this was the last song of along concert or the emotion resonance of the 10th anniversary, or any of that stuff) and certainly no reason to say anything other than one’s honest opinion. I respect your judgement on the song and understand why you didn’t like it. I’m not going to suggest that you don’t have well-formed opinions based on knowledge, as do some of the angry commenters who preceded me. But I will respectfully suggest that you did cross the line that separates “critical” from “mean” here.
I don't understand why they hate Saiki so much. Her ability to control the audience and convey emotions is great, and she is outstanding not only in her performances but also in her live performances. It seems that they hate Saiki just by looking at her. When they say that it would be better if the vocalist was Sue, or that her English pronunciation sounds like she might be sick, they are probably expressing their honest contempt. To me, it seems that they are looking down on the Japanese live culture itself. Being honest is fine, but being rude is a problem.
The donor who requested this song most probably did not take consideration that these two reactors, being very new to BM (having previously only listened to the instrumental, From Now On) have zero context with regard to the song, the concert, the significance of the concert and BM's history. Consequently, they could only react from an extremely narrow perspective. Having said that, a little research before reacting to the video as well as turning on the CC, might have might have given them more valuable insight into BM and the concert's significance. Anyway, I think they should now simply give up reacting to BM since the prejudice has already set in. Going forward from here, they can only hear Saiki's "weak vocals" and it won't be useful from any angle.
Form Japan BAND-MAID and BABYMETAL are completely different, but they are fighting in the same world of rock music. BABYMETAL is able to demonstrate their own abilities with the support and financial resources of Japan's best composers, choreographers, and stage directors. BAND-MAID is in control of everything themselves. People have different opinions about singers, I was a fan of Sue, but now I like Saiki. I feel that Saiki is more suitable as a rock singer.
If you're into more dynamic song with more complexities, this is one of their softest songs where only fans or particular type of people who can emotionally relate to. They are one of those bands that you have to listen to at least 10 songs before forming any kind of judgement, because they are so versatile. And most of their songs have the catchy chorus but deceptively complex, of course some are more radio-friendly and easy-listening. Fans are so emotionally attached to this song and even though it's nowhere near complex or fast and chaotic like most of their recent songs are, sometimes it really doesn't matter much. It's a great live song.
Actually, it was a THIRTY THREE song set list. Being their last song of a 3 1/2 hour concert and the conclusion of their 10th anniversary tour, she wasn't just wore out, it was a very emotional moment for her and all the members. It was a dream realized. A honest reaction is always appreciated, but it has little validity if it is not based in knowledge. Thus, I believe you get a pass on this one. I'd suggest Bubble or Daydreaming to get a better idea of her vocal range and talent. As for comparing vocal talents of Band Maid to BabyMetal, well... that'd be like comparing Janet Jackson to Joni Mitchell. Just sayin'. Cheers
Guys, I used to respect BabyMetal, but I never really liked them because I always considered them a product/abomination created by an artist management agency and for being the complete opposite of what a real rock band should be... you know, a group of musicians who get together through word of mouth or social media messages and find they have good chemistry to write music together and play live. And while I love the talent of Kami Band, the rest of BabyMetal is everything that I dislike about idol K-Pop and those RU-vidrs who are unable to react to a song on their own, without you having to buy them a coffee first. Band-Maid and BM are incomparable. 😉
Ahahah that was funny. But yes we totally agree that they can't be compared since they are completely different formats. I wonder what does any of this have even remotely to do with k-pop though xD
@@TheLeomarti K-pop is a genre, just like j-pop or whatever. K-pop is bunch of singers-dancers put together by a production company with a backing track. BabyMetal is a singer and dancers put together by a production company with a backing band. What language they're singing is irrelevant.
i highly doubt su can do this song. I prefer the lower voice for this than the higher voice su would have. It's just a preference i have. Not trying to say others can't prefer babymetal but i do prefer band maid
BAND-MAID is absolutely amazing 🤘🤗 Please keep reacting to them, the singer has a very refreshing and great voice 😊 Everyone is extremely talented, I will guarantee you will love them 😄 You just got a really meaningful song as request, so don't worry, they will turn you over 😉 Maybe try "Warning", "Shambles" or "Freedom". You can't compare them to BABYMETAL, they are actually very different from each other and both are quite unique in their own way. Take care ✌️
I will try to be polite, Band Maid for 10 years made many millions people around the globe to love them! I think how this amazing band started to choose who they want to love them and who they don't want to love them. Probably they don't want you to love them. Great desigion ladies! Well done girls! Now I will not be polite. You are 2 idiots and this is gona be for a long, long time, I think for the rest of your lifes.
I'm not gonna bag on you guys, just gonna pack up my stuff and move on the next reaction vid. They have alotta great songs (130+ over 10 years), including this one. You guys just happen upon a song that has alot of context, and as this your your first listen you don't know this. I hope you give them another chance, maybe "Hate?" (live). I love both Band Maid and Babymetal, but they are two totally different things on many levels. Peace 🤘
It’s obvious Band Maid is above your level of musical comprehension. Maybe you should react to something a little less extreme. No disrespect intended. Just saying.
This is music played by a band who write their music and play their instruments, and have nothing in common with Babymetal thank God. The last of 33 songs. Anyway, you succeeded in giving Babymetal a bad name, by association.
Sui, do not even reach up to the ankles off Saiki in ability and voice 😅 These two dudes don't know much about music, especially the dude on the right side🤮 Disrespecting nobodys🖕
It seems like you guys don't know anything. I'm sorry. I want you to know how great this band is, but it seems impossible for you, who are so prejudiced, to know. By the way, BABYMETAL is not a band, but an idol. They are just idols who cannot exist without Kami Band.
They did exist, but they were idols called Sakura Gakuin, and they were just idols. BABYMETAL was born out of the idea that it would be interesting to combine idol and heavy metal as a project. Lately, I've been writing lyrics, but I haven't been able to compose music. In the first place, even comparing it to BAND-MAID is fundamentally different.
@@TheLeomarti No. The skeleton suits weren't playing anything, Kami band is just a name for whichever group of studio musicians the production company has playing. Last I checked, which was at least one, maybe two albums ago, BM has had 15+ guitarists playing for them.
@@TheLeomarti No, I'm disagreeing. Yes there was an entity named Babymetal before the backing band was given a name, but there has always been a backing band. Last I saw Moa had learned some basic guitar but none of them play on albums or in performances.
for crap sake guys not every song in a 3.5+ hour concert can be an out and out banger, would get boring. 33 songs if I remember correctly from hard rock, acoustic, mertal, ballads - light and shade. She had sang for almost 3.5 hours and this song was the last one I think of their 10th anniversarry concert. very emotional her voice was cracking up with emotion, near tears. OK you dont like them and obviously big babymetal fans. But pretty crap way of putting thinks. Can you not see the tears at the end. No subscription from me
We get it, you like Babymetal. Pretty narrow minded. This is one of the best rock bands of our time. Voice cracking over 3.5 hours and 33 songs in. Now go watch some choreography. 🙄
Sarcasm about choreography? Who is being "Narrow minded" here? I am huge fan of BOTH bands and saw both of them live on their most recent US tours. Both packed the house then brought it down! Two of the best shows I have ever seen. . .and I appreciate how different they are. I am so tired of people not realizing how difficult singing is and don't consider singers musicians. . .Give me a break. Ever tried singing live in front of hundreds or thousands of people? I am drummer and a choreographer. I can tell you dancing at the level some groups do it can be way harder than playing an instrument as it is more physically taxing whilst being just as exacting. Most people who dis it know nothing about it, and could not get through 2 measures of dance choreo without f'ing up! Now try singing at the same time. Its fine if choreo w/ rock/metal is not your thing, but to imply it does not take the same dedication effort and ability as it does to play an instrument is not narrow minded. . . it's just ignorant.
@@CHRISCONTEPSS Conceptually, what is the difference between BabyMetal and any other act with a singer flanked by choreo in front of an anonymous group of musicians? That is root of the negative comparisons. I am a Babymetal fan, think Su has a great voice and the producers pick good musicians to play the songs. Since they went away from the Rondo of Nightmare style band and went with the platypus masks I *have* found it harder to enjoy, ngl.
We all have different taste, and that’s a very good thing. Another good thing is honest reactors that don’t go “Ah” and Oh” and “love” everything to get likes. For some strange reason, Band-Maid always get compared to the metal cabaret called Babe Metal, although they have nothing in common. I do get that some like Baby Metal better as they are heavies and the musicians in the background are more technical. With that said, this is the first time I heard someone prefer their “squeaky toy voices” to the mature voice of a woman like Saiki. That to me is a mystery!
Baby Metal and BAND-MAID should not be compared. Baby Metal is an idol group with a backing band, created by the management's strategy, while BAND-MAID is an artist who created their own band, composed, performed, and produced their own music. Furthermore, in terms of genre, there is no band that can be compared to BAND-MAID. BAND-MAID is BAND-MAID.
You do not know enough about musical (music) theory to analyze it, nor do you have any understanding for vocal technique and instrumental skills. . Please don't speak haughtily, and don't speak from a superior position. You will only expose your ignorance and lack of understanding.
I don't usually comment on tubers who diss the ladies in any way. But you got me. Here's how I see it, your Babymetal fanboys, very much into the poppy high pitched voices like Su M, if that's what you prefer don't bother doing anymore BAND-MAID Saiki doesn't do it that way. As to Su singing in BAND-MAID that's a joke, right?, she ain't got the range to do so. Someone did do an AI of Su M doing a BAND-MAID song and it was awful🤮 P.s. Before you go all "I'm just being honest, BAND-MAID fans are toxic" if you criticize someone or something expect the same back it's only fair. You criticize them we criticize you.🙂
You do not have the knowledge of music theory to analyze a song, you don't have the understanding of vocal technique or the playing skills of the respective instruments. Please do not be arrogant or make comments that demean the artist.
I don't tend to hate your reaction...I'm not blind and toxic BM fan and You have every right to an "honest" opinion... This is definitely not a good song for first reaction at all, this is a special kind of anthem song (thanks to the fans), it's the end of a 3+ hour concert and the song has no special musical value. If this is how the quality of singing is valued, it doesn't make sense to refer you to Christmas acoustic, or the fact that the Japanese doesn't even have certain consonants in the language (L), therefore they can't even speak English fluently, less sing, Saiki almost cries half the song...because you're going to use Babymetal as a benchmark? Babymetal is not a group, but a corporate idol project, with all the machinery behind it... and you just love the idea of metal sound behind that project (half of the performances are fake, they often don't play live), there are no Babymetal backing vocals, only tracks (2 girls are performers, not singers!), and Su-metal singing is...rudimental? "First reaction" format can't set standards for comparison without knowing some background, but at the end of the day it's your channel and I respect your way...even though I personally find it wrong... Maybe it's more "honest": I like it / not my cup of tea?
