This is the cover I rate every other cover song to. He put his own absolutely incredible, beautiful & heart wrenching twist on it. And I completely agree, Chris had one of the best voices, ever.

One of the best covers of any song, ever.

Such an incredible cover. Michael’s version feels more like a dance song; you catch the words and get the gist of the song, but it doesn’t feel emotionally heavy. Chris’s cover makes you hang on every word and feel the emotion of the conflict and the impassioned delivery. To see Chris perform this song on his solo tours was always profound. Except for a few “woo hoos” being yelled by drunk idiots who don’t know how to appreciate a quiet moment, you could hear a pin drop. RIP to the legend.

This must have been around the same time Chris Cornell did the cover of Patience from Guns and Roses thst he did this cover of Billie Jean from Michael Jackson . Great to this one hopefully you check out the from Guns and Roses.

Chris brings some of the depth to the lyrics. The lyrics are dark, sad and everyone immediately wants to dance when they hear them. I believe it is how Michael coped with pain. By adding something positive to lessen the pain in the message. Let's be real. These lyrics are the worst heartbreak men can go through. Micheal disquised his pain in music with up beat melodies so it is not so gruesome for others to look at,Chris pulls the mask and rips the bandages off. Yet, he still hides pain behind his hair, because although he is being vulnerable, it is not his story. Sadly, we all lost two amazing story tellers. Hopefully, they left them here and will never need precautionary tales in the world they now exist in...

Covering Michael Jackson is like covering Led Zeppelin. Ballsy as fuck, and brilliant to boot if you are as good as Chris to make it your own. By the way, Chris covers Led Zeppelin's Thank You, just to prove how great he was. Oh, and just to top it off he decided to cover Nothing compares to you after Sinead did a cover and made it her own. Oh, thank u M. U opened my eyes to beauty of this song. This version was not better than MJ’s, which is one of my top 10, but I listened to “it” instead of dancing to the beat.

That wasn't even his best cover of Billy Jean, he often played with the inflections while singing it live.

Number one all-time hands down

There is another live version of him singing with just his guitar that I’m not fond of. My favorite is one that I feel’s the best version He’s at a concert performing on a large stage with his band and has short hair. Absolutely love this version! His version I feel is better than Angelina Jordan’s, but if you haven’t seen hers, you’ll probably enjoy that as well. She performs it with a jazz flare.
