Just absolutely beautiful...please react to In My Defence, the other song Freddie did for the Time musical

You really need to react to A Winter's Tale, written by Freddy when he was very ill in the last few months of his life. Incredible, it's about the view he see's from his window.

A Winter's Tale is one of my favorites. The world and life is sooooo. beautiful and sometimes you don't really appreciate it until you are near death.

This was originally recorded for a musical called Time but had instruments and backing singers on, it was found a few years ago and stripped back to just Freddie and the piano, I personally love this version, great reaction by the way I could tell you were in awe of Freddie's voice, who wouldnt be, and those lyrics get me so emotional, but never a truer word spoken, look forward to your next reaction x

This wasn’t stripped back as one of the comments states. It was the original recording with just Freddie and Mike Moran on piano.

It's not just that they didn't use autotune, it was that it hadn't been invented yet! Computers weren't around, at least not how we know them now. No one in the 70s-mid-90s could use autotune, though sound could be refined in other ways (layering, reverb, etc.) - it was all manual, using physical reels of tape and huge mixing tables. There was no disguising it: Artists needed to have an incredible voice. They didn't even have inner ear monitoring for much of that time either; notice that Freddie never has anything in his ear during live performances like artists do nowadays so they can hear themselves back (as well as drown out the deafeningly loud noise from the surrounding speakers and instruments). There were speakers placed at the front of the stage to help with this, but Freddie really just had to sing and trust that it would come out how he wanted. He probably couldn't hear himself all that well at all, which made it all the more impressive. And the fact that he never had a vocal lesson!

Watching Freddie makes you smile even though the lyrics are pretty somber. It’s one of his best vocal performances. Freddie sings with his whole being. Great reaction. Have you done in my defense? Written for the same show. So so good.

So if I remember correctly these vocals were from the run through or first performance in the studio. Can you imagine being in the studio and this is what he does the first time he ever sings this? I really don't know another vocalist who could sing this song this way. A tour de force performance! By the way the look on your face was nice to see!

Dave Clark searched for many years in his archives until he found the original recording of just Freddie and Mike Moran on the piano. They became fast friends and he rode in the first car with Mary at the funeral.

Great reaction! Hey, you mentioned you like his interviews? Find the long version (18 minutes) of the "Freddie Mercury & Dave Clark "TIME" Interview from 1986" == in it they talk about this song & how professional Freddie is when even just rehearsing it. Plus it's rather funny. He is very comfortable and chatty.

You were really on the edge of your seat listening. This was not long after Live Aid - but this stripped down version was released in 2018. There is an interview with Freddie & Dave Clark(the writer of Time - the musical); Freddie is still dressed in same outfit...it is just such a lovely moment btwn two friends.

there were times when singers "had to" sing without technical support. Today (want) fans believe their idol sings without technical support.

A study of Freddie’s voice was conducted by a group of researchers led by Christian T. Hebst at University of Palacky Czech Republic. They discovered Freddie sang vibrato at 7.04 Hz. Other singers vibrato is usually about 5.4 Hz. So his vibrato was even faster than the opera singer Pavarotti! He was also able to create subharmonics with his voice by using his ventricular folds a technique only found in Tuvan throat singers before. The study concluded his incredibly fast vibrato combined with his subharmonics and natural ear for music made him able to create a unique way of singing no one else has ever been able to do. 😊

Awwww Freddie up close & personal. Song recorded by Freddie along with In My Defense for Dave Clark’s musical TIME. Written by Dave Clark & Jeff Daniels (yes, the same actor who played in Dumb & Dumber). Anyway, it was released in 2019 after Dave was determined to locate the demo tapes in his “vault”. Btw, why do music artists always have a vault?? Anyway, he stripped it down to just Freddie’s vocals & Piano played by Mike Moran. Amazing!!

When Freddie did this he knew the health challenge before him. This isn't a Queen number. It's for a solo project he worked on with/for a Dave Clark stage show there in London.

This version is found back a copple years ago and was the first recording without other instruments and vocals. There is a video of the version used back then with those vocals and instruments. It's just what you like but I refer to the other , more powerfull, version.

Title sorry from a musical in London middle of the 80's Freddie didn't write it likewise they're two versions of this, and also In My Defence again from this show, Queen put a spin and different video for it after Freddie passed away, but don't read too much into the music just enjoy it

everybody - everywhere - talked about autotune. What is it - I am 71 years old - singing in a choir - and I don't know what you are talking about. Tell me -
@cashvstheworld

It is a way to make your voice sound better than it actually is. Many current day artists do not have beautiful voices but they still "sound" beautiful because of autotune.

@@devil-sc8fu that's too bad - I have used a lot of time to be on pitch in my choir - - and we usually succeed - I think it is horrible to make it with electronic help - - I'm happy to sing in a choir without any help - it is more vibrant with a little bit of flaws - but of course we are on key-try to listen to the English choirs - Kings college choir - ??
