This is an absolutely amazing version of the song. Till and Flake, voice and piano. This isn't just a song, this is a piece of art.

I'll listen to any version of this song any day of the week. Some people see this version as creepy but to me, it's a work of art. The stuff of nightmares maybe but so apt given the lyrics.

The dedication of till lindemann in every music video or live performances is pure art and passion.

This is so beautiful…his voice, the costume, the makeup…it’s like a Rammstein opera

Rammstein is one of those Bands, were translating the lyrics can't really do them justice. They have often times many nuances, double meanings and word plays that only work in German.

As far as I understand, the lyrics of this song are about a German folk story about a demon who bring nightmares to kids. The live version with all its strident music sounds to me like the point of view of the tortured who lived through it, but this version seems to me made from the point of view of the demon, the torturer, who has no choice but carrying a task he can't stand. I might be wrong but these are the vibes I get from the two different versions of this song.

In any form of music, that piano melody would be stunningly beautiful. It is, like Till himself, an absolute original.

This song in its original form ( you should check it out as well ) is about the anxiety and unpleasant feeling you have in a bad dream. This version I feel intensifies these even more. Till is a real poet and some of his lyrics are much deeper then anything out there. Stay on the Rammstein-Road if you want to get entertained :) love you

I love so much your reactions to Rammstein. I am 73 years old and a great Rammstein Fan. Till has an incredible Voice. Especially in this Song. For a better understanding: He is the voice out of the pillows who brings nightmares to the children and he collects the childrens tears to inject them into his veins. And the Refrain is always „Mein Herz brennt“. (My heart is burning). Till is not only a singer but also a Poet. And Flake, the keyborder, who always plays the clown is a real Intellectual, who wrote two Books. One about the beginning of his Career and the others of the Band and one about Rammstein. Great books. I could not stop laughing.

I've always thought of this version to be hauntingly beautiful, it has some dark and ominous overtones yet has a beautiful quality. Another Rammstein song on the piano that evokes the same type of emotions is Sonne at the end of the Deutschland video. I think watching the video in its entirety sets the mood and gives a context that particular piece on the piano. If you haven't, you should really check it out.

The ending when it gets intense is so good how both his voice and the piano gets aggressive, gives shivers every damn time

Often lost in translation is how dark and meaningful those words are. Glad you picked up on that. After his first creepy smile, did you notice the sad face after? I thought of it as those 2 faces on theatres. He also keeps looking up, at yhe start he says he is the creature under the bed. It seems like he is in the Underworld appealing to the living. It's dark, emotional and extremely well executed.

Every time I listen to them it's like swimming through an ocean of all emotions and they are the cure for my occasional depression. They always lift me up. In the song Ein Lied (Song) Till also sings "Immer wenn ihr traurig seid spielen wir für euch - Whenever you're sad We play for you" I only discovered you recently when I was looking at the reactions to the Angst song and I really like your reactions, your opinions and comments on their songs. Mein Herz Brennt is my favorite Rammstein song and I love the piano version. You really should listen to the original version and watch the music video they made. It's also worth looking up the translated lyrics since they do a lot of wordplay that enhances the themes of their songs.

In my opinion - this is brilliant! I really really love this version. He is a very unique performer.

I love this version of the song. I'll always be partial to the original since its inclusion in the movie Lilja 4-ever was just brilliant, but this version is *chef's kiss* as well. In many ways, I think both the movie and the piano here enhance the song in similar ways. Both really bring forth the rawness in its theme of sorrow in their own special ways. Either way, an absolute masterpiece. It's probably my favorite Rammstein song alongside Engel and Spieluhr.

Did you notice it? At the very end as the lights are fading the white smoke? I believe the white smoke/mist you see in the very end as the lights slowly go off was his spirit/Soul. I think that he was finally able to ascend...after making sure all the children were safe and at the same time atoning for his past sins he was finally set free. The original was released in 2001 then the piano version in 2012 so it follows the story from Till in the orphanage to protecting the kids and the emotions he shows is mainly anger followed by sadness then in the piano version his emotions are kinda bitter sweet? He realizes he had to do things he didn't want to do to save the children. So now that he's done, he is finally set free.

This version of the song is my favorite; the ‘metal’ version of this song is also amazing and the official video is hauntingly beautiful too. Till’s voice is beautiful, his lyrics are always poems that go into the music and result in powerful songs. Also all those scars are real; some are from the Engel wings and others are self-inflicted. Till is a tormented beautiful soul and you can see that throughout his poems. You should check them out, the man is a brilliant poet.

You know, I've watched this reaction a number of times now. I know that every time a Rammstein song starts playing, I instantly get goosebumps. I mean like... every... time. It's common for people to ask why Rammstein is so popular. There's that their music is unique, Till is a natural showman (even thought he has incredible stage fright), and the band is phenomenal. I think one thing that is typically missed is their ability to connect with the listener, the audience member and invoke such emotion. I mean, even in a different language, their songs portray pain, happiness, want, need... so many others and I think that it's because they are more than just musicians (not to downplay other musicians at all), but they are true artists, on so many levels. It's more than just music... it's poetry and the deeper the listener is, the more they can appreciate what Rammstein does. That's what makes Rammstein unique and, thus, so popular! I loved your reaction. You listen and feel on a different level... a level that is truthful and honest. You also have the soul of an artist. Bravo!

He is the reason for children to be afraid of their nightmares according to this song. Sheer theatrical poetry, I love it. He creeps from the cellars to invade their sleep, whispering through their pillows. tormenting them with visions of black elves and demons. Always a threat but just beyond reach.

I recently found out that the beginning lines are from an East German children's show. It's an animated puppet show about the sandman people. We used to get a translated version of it here in Sweden when I was a kid.
