Allthough Rammstein are known for their bombastic and hard hitting sometimes even absurd and funny anthems their ballads are so beautiful. Ohne dich is a perfect example.
This song has saved my life. In a moment of darkness this song shed light in my life. This life can be so cold and alone and like you said feel defeated and reaching for help. In the lyrics it says the best sailor is myself. That line flipped a switch and made me realize that sometimes we are dealt a role in life and if we dont make the best of it we can be the person drowning in the endless cold sea or be the sailor and be the shining light. Everytime i hear this song it reminds me of what I overcame and what Rammstein means to me. I seen them twice and i cried seeing them. i owe them so much for their music.
OMG, I love his voice. This is honestly the first time I've actually heard Till Lindemann use a softer voice! And he does such a beautiful job pulling it off, despite being used to him having a much deeper tone when he sings.
The cover by Nina Hagen is really good. It has the benefit of being with cello band, Apocalyptica. So it gives it an orchestral vibe. She sings it her own way but her voice isnt as expressive and mournful as Tills is I feel for this song
Your reaction to Rammstein songs is on another level, it has become so poetic that truly shows how good you feel the nerve of their songs. And I guess thats why you react so beautyfully and meaningfully.
please try also Nina Hagen's cover-version of that song (Apocalyptica - 'Seemann' feat. Nina Hagen (Official Video)) if you dont, you miss something ;)
Imo the best version is "Live aus Berlin". "Komm in mein Boot" with Flake in boat on the sea of human hands... One of the best Rammstein live "tricks". And it works...
Ooo. I love Rammstein! One of their new songs "Zeit" is stuck in my head for weeks. It's "Time" talks about a perfect moment, how it should stand still, but time moves on. And a video is a masterpiece 😍
Love this song since day one it came out. I always felt, it's about the - as I think - most German feeling of all: melancholy. We often find ourselves just at that doorstep down to depression, enjoying the stare down into this abyss without actually going there. Sadness, grief, farewell and maybe a glass of good red wine. And when Till says "Jaaa" in here, deep and low, we lift our glasses and join in. PS: and I love playing it on my bass myself ;)
Oh i love it, this song still can bring me back into tears. It accompanied me for such a long time and its nice to see, that other people get touched by it aswell. Just love your emotional reactions to masterpieces like this, its so rare these days to get true feelings shown.
Bust in’ out the old-school rammstein tracks! This is the first cd I ever bought from them, and this song was one of many which made me follow Rammstein since 1996.
I love the part where she takes her fire from the candle. In German we have a saying where if you take your fire from the candle (instead from a match or a lighter) a seaman will die. Just a superstition but it came up from seamen who where laid off in the winter would make their living making matches then. So you'd take away their way of making money and have them starve.
I can't wait, I'm so excited! Danke, Danke, Danke!!! A little reminder for the next reaction: ZAZ ft. TILL LINDEMAN "Le Jardin Des Larmes" (Original Music Video)... heartbreaking chanson! Greetings from Germany!!!
I watch all your videos and I like them every time I live in France and I admit that even if it may seem stupid I fell under your spell. thank you for your videos and your reactions ❤️
Finally!😍 After this it would be so nice if you also check out the music video " Du riechst so gut 95' ". There are 2 versions. They released another music video in 1998. But i prefer the 95' version because they were so masculine in it and it was their first music video ever (Seemann was their second music video). Definitely one of their best songs! Seemann and Du riechst so gut are both from their first album "Herzeleid" Thank you so much Aileen for all of your videos! Love them to watch😊
Still now, years after this song has been released, i am crying everytime when i listen to it. There are so many different meanings in this lyrics... for me it is the greatest song i have ever heard in my life
Agreed. Even after you realize that the song has nothing to do with the sea at all but actually is about a "loverboy" and forced prostitution. Till deliberately never explains the text of the songs he writes so basically everyone gets to interpret the song for themselves.
The base is so nice and sad in a verry calming way. Watching this reaction made me nostalgic since im missing out on all your content lately, you allways give off such calming vibes.
I could see this song being about a person who finds comfort in the helping of others but in this case at the end maybe they couldn't help the person they wanted to and it left them feeling cold and empty inside for failing them. Sort of a double edged sword.
You should definitely check out the cover with Nina Hagen who is not just the godmother of Punk, but quite a bit the female version of till - specifically in this song.
Definitely try Reise reise, Wo bist du, Feuer und Wasser and Roter sand. I love Richard and Till. They are amazing and I am sure you will love their show. I saw Rammstein live in 2011 and I still feel every sensation when watching the videos today. It was mind-blowing. Enjoy.
And as allways Aileen, what a great reaction I realy enjoy your reactions and if you plan to do one other of the old Rammstein songs I guess "Mann gegen Mann" would be it. Again thx for your reaction 🙋♂👍
Wow, you’re the first video I saw in your channel and I instantly subscribed. Looking forward to binge watch your other Rammstein reaction videos. Cheers from Canada.
So excited for you to get to see them live! Your 1st time is so powerful, unforgettable! There will be so.much to see...you won't wanna miss a second! Ahh, the Rammstein with no shirts era..Hell. Yes!
I would love to see you react to a cover of this song by finnish Apocalyptica featuring German punk queen Nina Hagen. 😊 You as a singer could be impressed by Ninas vocal range. Sha sings in a very punky style but could very well sing opera or metal or…you name it. Stay Metal! 🤘😎🤘
@@simonjackson2589 label it whatever you want. She was called Punk Queen in the 80’s. I can agree that it was not standard Brittish punk. Aswell as Rampnes was called punk from an American perspective I guess Nina was too from a sort of German perspective. The label ”pynk” was pften miss used and put on all sorts of rebelious music. Cheers!
@@alfonsoagren414 a punk give a shit of politics, this woman is political af. a punk will beer, dance, music and fuck. Thats not Oi! so shes not a Punk
Nina Hagen also sings that song, Bald kommt der Herbst ... Winter :) I think its the life time, birth = spring ..... sommer ..... middle age = fall / autmn ....... winter = close to the end / old age. Honestly I like booth version, one of my favorite Rammstein Songs is "Reise Reise" and "Wo bist du"
Love this song so much. Because thanks to "Seemann" I discovered Rammstein. Imo the best version is "Live aus Berlin". "Komm in mein Boot" with Flake in boat on the sea of human hands... One of the best Rammstein live "tricks". And it works...
Love your reactions on Rammstein and your funny pronunciation 😊I understand, that you will see them in San Antonio or LA? This will be a live changing adventure for you....there is nothing comparable. I see them last in 2019 in Germany and by Chance in Barcelona, Spain....and next in 2023 in Europe and Germany. Wish you all the Best. Frank from Germany
FYI , the current live setlist songs you've not reacted to *Links 234 (live from Paris will do) *Zeig Dich (official audio) *Heirate Mich (live aus Berlin 1998) *Du Riechst So Gut (live Volkerball) *Diamant (official audio) *Auslander (official music video) *Radio ( official music video) *Sehnsucht ( Live Volkerball) *P*ssy ( Uncensored Official music video/Live MSG) *Rammstein ( Live 2019 version by the KeyboardFer or the old way it was performed in live Aus Berlin 1998)
@@eriksand9262 she doesn't know the songs? She hasn't heard half the set list. She could listen to them before in a better quality and get a reaction out of it on here. Seeing it in person live is different experience but atleast she will know the songs going in if she checks them out.
@@kuzniarito1542 That can be seen and experienced in person , as its a visual thing. But for audio and visual quality, can check out the versions I recommended before hand
You know what? After a year or so, I realised that heart with number on the screen above the mic is the actual pulse of Aileen)))) I thought it is some likes somewhere or something related))))))))) Feeling silly))
You are very astute surveyor Aileen! Thank you. And thank you for being an online beacon, that you don't have to be "white" and even, "German" to appretiate good music. Too many barriers that i'm glad you are helping to break down. Appreciate it!
I’d like to recommend watching some of their old live shows from the 90’s. They are some of my favourite things to watch or just simply have in the background while doing other things. :D
thanks aileen :) hugs from germany. oh and its about prostitution. thats what it makes it so sad. seamen often "buy" women when coming back and its about trying to save a girl from that.
Don't forget the version of Apocalytica with Nina Hagen. Brilliant cover (and possibly the most wicked female singer from Germany since .... well maybe for ever)
I've always thought Till is singing from the perspective of the ferryman to the other world which is why it's so somber even though he sounds helpful. He's picking up souls, describing how they ride with tears in their eyes and in the end they are alone and cold.
