I couldn't hear it here (too much going on) but at the moment when her voice breaks you can hear Mick Jagger in the background whooping. He knew how lucky they were to have her.

They start- then it comes to her bit- and she belts out R-- M---!!! They must have literally turned to look at one another 😆. History in the making. I grew up with my mother's Rolling Stones albums and I remember being confused that there was also a magazine called Rolling Stone. Also, the clothing brand remark is totally valid, the band logo IS a brand these days.

Right! She never even heard of the Stones. She said when she got there, she thought to herself, “I’m going to blow these guys out of the water!” And she did blow their minds with her excellent awesome solo!

The blues had a baby and they named it rock and roll. Muddy Watters and the Rolling Stones are a great example of the power of influence in art. There's a video with Muddy Waters and he calls the stones up on stage. Might be Mannish Boy.

I was waiting for somebody to recognize that this was in fact a protest song. I was about 15 when my mom took me to the movie theater to have a "bonding moment" and "Gimme Shelter" was the one she took me to. (She liked the Rolling Stones because Ed Sullivan liked them).The movie was the Rolling Stones live at Altamont. It had all the graphics of the Hell's Angels attacking and killing a man in front of the stage. Mick Jagger looked really scared but they kept playing. My mom was appalled because she didn't know exactly what the film depicted. She was even more appalled when they sang "Midnight Rambler." Needless to say, my mom never took me to the movies again for a "bonding moment."

Bands like the Stones drew their inspiration from the blues and soul artists that came from the Deep South. There's an old saying, "The blues had a baby and they named it rock and roll".
