Welcome aboard, Velcro. You are embarking on (along with many others - 165 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid: BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (124 songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uds7g3M-4lQ.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits like Sense, Glory and Unleash (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7LB_EPS48HE.html) And many songs are represented with over 45 well produced music videos. ru-vid.com Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts: ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nAdWnIRjGak.html Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QbyQCJn6rYg.html ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--qQnKILR5u0.html Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD. “P and D²” 30+ Photo Collage videos at www.youtube.com/@PinD2/videos And some of the better quality fan videos are excellent. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid Members: Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 29 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 31 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 31 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 32 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 30 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. Yea this one is my favorite song of BAND-MAID it has everything. 👉 Akane: wicked drumming thru out the song. 👉 Kanami: insane guitar solo. 👉 Saiki / Miku: Vocal harmonizing. 👉 MISA: Bass breakdown. 👉 Breakdown section at the end. Overall a Masterpiece! Oh and I forgot one thing *MISA, MISA, MISA* 😝 😝 😝
MISA MISA MISA! Also yes it really has everything, This one is going to be tough to beat for the top 1. Although I'm sure they'll make me eat my words.
You can listen to any Band Maid song and know they are a great rock band, but Blooming is the song that shows you that they are on a completely different level, that there is no band that you can legitimately compare them to. As one reactor said of them, it's Band Maid doing Band Maid things. All 5 women deserve a mention because they are all on top of their game here, but for me it's Akane playing her own patterns murderously fast while somehow managing to add accents to whomever is leading the melody at the time that impresses most.
Totally!, I mention Misa a lot because the way she glues everything together it's so different than any other rock/hard rock bassist I've heard recently but in all fairness, they are all amazing.
Fellow Maidiacs... lets not tell him about the acoustic versions they have😂😂😂... love your reaction brother, keep it up. Can't wait to see more BAND-MAID from you👍🏻🖤.. seems like your really into our BARE FOOT ASSASIN(MISA), NO GOD, MANNERS, ONSET, TAKE ME HIGHER... have some REALLY good MISA MISA MISA moments.. goodluck brother
I consider "Blooming" a Masterpiece ! This song always put a smile on my face =) You didn't see their faces as much in this video because they wanted you to pay more attention to the music instead of them ! And of course MISA MISA MISA was awesome as always !! For another banger check out the "Dice" MV =) Thanks Velcro✌🤘
"Misa...does things to me." So say we all! Seriously, one of the things I love most about this band is the prominence they're willing to give the bass combined with the intricacies Misa builds throughout, rather than just holding down the low end like most bands.
Welcome to the Maidiacs, might I suggest “Play” or for a nice contrasting view of their greatness “Manners/Black Hole” which is a live video of two very different songs back to back.😎🤘🏻🤘🏻
Top 5 track for me!....As hard as that is...Having a top 5, 10, 20 or even 50!! ..MAID tracks is tough!..Everything they've done is awesome!...IMHO....Long May They Reign!👑
Had to subscribe since you clearly 'got' Band-Maid from your first reaction and, as there's still another 100+ songs of theirs for you to experience, it's going to be a good journey. Hope you felt better after this. The ladies have a very positive effect on things like stress and can usually make any listener feel better about their day. Their MV's are all superb and, as you know already, they can really perform live.
MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin , just one thing if you keep pausing every time MISA does something different with the Bass its gonna take you a while to get through BAIND-MAID songs
😂😂😂 Completely agree yet I have to, She's such a different bass player to what I'm used to for hard rock bands, She's the glue that makes everything sound so perfect. Also MISA!!! MISA!!! MISA!!!
Try the official No god live video for some of Misa's best work - if you pay attention she basically solo's bass through the whole song, swapping from pick to slap- and its a great song- tho pretty different to any youve heard from them so far.
The Mountain of Maids has many, MANY peaks. "Blooming" is one of the highest. Just don't drive when listening to it...unless there is no speed limit. Another great reaction, Velco! Thanks man! 🕊
Thank you for responding to "Blooming" which I also love. That was very fun. The melody line of this song is very catchy and beautiful. I never get tired of listening to only Misa's bass sound. But wait a minute, you won't get tired of listening to Akane's drums alone, Kanami's guitar riffs are amazing, and the chorus of the two vocalists is just amazing, isn't it? Hahaha, I can't help but laugh.
BLOOMING is an exceptional song. It is composed of familiar sounds mixed together in a new and surprising way. There is no official live video for BLOOMING, but I enjoy this fan-cam - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c0RKqEQmwCk.html
Blooming was my favourite for a while -- it is so good. It stands out as special. Kanami set them all homework -- to bring her something to add to the song. Then she blended all their contributions into this song. And that is special. I reckon "Far away" has to be Miku's contribution, and I think Misa's was some bass part she composed while drunk, and couldn't play sober. I wonder if Saiki's contribution was the rapping.
Loved the reaction so I liked and subbed. I'm glad that it raised your spirits! I consider this the technically best composition from Band Maid. Kanami has great solos, Akane kills it on the drums, the vocals are outstanding and the harmonies are wonderful, and MISA! MISA! MISA! You are absolutely right that the band can lay back and let Kanami do her thing, instead they have input that enhances Kanami's solos, what an incredible band!
Thank you much for your kind words, It for sure made me feel so much better, today was a really rough day, and they just changed everything I'm going to sleep with a smile on my face.
I really like your style. You have a natural ear for the rhythm section and point out a lot of the intricacies. Blooming and Dice (bass heavy song) are the 2 songs I always use to introduce people to Band Maid. Quintessential BM songs. Their recent song Influencer has a great bass solo.
I could comment on what you're saying about MISA, but I just started on your channel, so you'll have to go back to your earlier BAND-MAID videos to read my comments.
