First Time Reaction to "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" by Morissette Amon 

She always sings live😂 This is a one take raw video with her band!

Hello, Ryan and Cindy. Thanks for this awesome reaction. To give you some information, "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" was written by Sheryn Regis, Jonathan Manalo and Mitchiko Unso, in Sep 2021. Star Music and ABS-CBN company owned its rights. It was performed originally by Sheryn Regis. Then in Feb. 2022, it was included in the official soundtrack of a Philippine TV drama series "The Broken Marriage Vow" where Morissette was chosen to interpret the song. It was then that it became trending and viral, partly because of the popularity of the drama series, and partly because it was a challenging song to sing, with those continuous belting, and Morissette's rendition became an instant favorite. Morissette then produced in June 2022 the live band performance with the 3rd Avenue Band, the music arrangement was by Adonis Tabanda, musical director and bass guitar player, and filmed by Mori's husband Dave Lamar. This was completely live, and not studio recorded audio which was superimposed over a video recording, as you have thought. You may want to check Adonis Tabanda's vlog/reaction video about this performance in his channel. Then in Aug 2022, Morissette performed this in the Wish Bus, with the track from Star Music. She then had a duet with Regine Velasquez on a Sunday TV variety show in Sep. Mori also performed this live with the original singer, Sheryn Regis, on a concert for Jonathan Manalo in Oct. Regine Velasquez is one of the best singers of the Philippines, dubbed as the "Asia's Songbird", who began her singing career in the late 80's up to the present, with many of her songs becoming blockbuster hits, and popular among singing contests, and became soundtracks of various Philippine movies. By the way, she is also an actress and played leading roles in many films. She is the idol of many singers of the younger generation, including Morissette. In fact, it is said that Mori began singing at the age of 3, in their karaoke, singing "You Are My Song" by Regine. She is now 52, and it is amazing that she can still perform and belt those high notes. Mori has a lot of respect for her, as you can see in that video. She let Regine took the center stage, and she hugged her at the end. On the other hand, Regine is very supportive of the generation of talented singers that followed her. She is proud of Mori, and she said that Mori will be a leading figure in the Philippine music industry. She even made a surprise appearance in one of Morissette's concerts. Thanks again for this Wednesday treat, I enjoyed it a lot. Morissette, through this song, has once again proved that she is a power house, not just a singer but a total performer. Through her beautiful voice and vocal abilities, and the way she delivers, including her facial expressions and body language, she gives life to whatever she sings. We can't help but be amazed, mesmerized, and feel the goosebumps, every time. Hopefully, when you have read all the comments, you will be convinced that the live band performance was indeed live. Morissette is one of the best Live singers ever. She’s so good Love that most of the time it sounds mixed and mastered, she always gives it her best But.. when is accused of lip syncing it hurts her the most..She a lot of LIVE performances on her channel. You should check them out.

According to what I've heard this is live performance and live recording. Only 2 takes and they use the second one here. If this story is true, Mori is truly like no other artist in history...but then, we already knew that.

This was a Live Performance. with a Live Band, Morissette Singing Live. Video was recorded using Multiple Cameras in diffrent angles. some cameras are set static others in Pan Mode. There was some Post Production work.

Thanks for the shoutout! I am male btw XD "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" was originally sung by Sheryn Regis (Age: 42) but popularized by Morissette Amon. Regine Velasquez, age of 52 is the idol of most if not all of the Philippine singers including Morissette. I can see many harsh comments in the comment section but I apologize on their behalf. It is just a mindset here in the Philippines that if someone accused a Filipino artist of not singing LIVE (even if it is just an honest opinion) even though the video said is LIVE, they will always be people who will rage and put harsh comments against the accuser, and it is not just Morissette but ALL the other Filipino artists so be careful next time hehe. Even some foreigner fans get influenced and does the same thing ;) Anyways, Morissette was not feeling well during the day she sang the song on the Wish 107.5 bus but ends up still having millions of views! The one with the live band is in her Official RU-vid Channel and definitely nailed it in just two takes! :0 There are different angles because there are also different cameras that's why :) But glad you enjoyed her renditions of this song!

She is in her 50's and for me no one can beat her in her Prime. She's so humble enough to sing with young Gen singers. You're not the first nor the last to accuse Morissette of not singing live. Happens all the time. Just shows how good her live singing is when she gets accused of not singing live. One sign that she's singing live on the third one, look at her neck and those veins popping out.

Definitely live performances. Technology has gotten way better in capturing live performances. Obviously having good sound engineers who know what they’re doing also makes a huge difference. Also Mori has great mic control. She knows when to pull back the mic or bring it close keeping the volume consistent as well as noise gates/expander and limiters helps the consistency as well. All their sound is likely going through the soundboard and into a DAW. From there post production, further cleaning up the audio or enhancing it where needed.

It might feel that way to you but I promise it is totally live. It’s a Filipino thing. She wouldn’t be caught dead lip synching. They obviously pieced together different shots camera angles to make the video. But the audio and video were shot together

Regine is a legend who every singer would die to sing with. Every concert new/young/upcoming singers, Regine would support and surprise them by going up on stage and do a duet with the new artist. Regine did this with Morisette, Katrina and just recently with Klarisse’s concert.

If I'm not mistaken, her team said that they tried 2 Live recordings and chosen the better one. For the last video, that was on ASAP, a musical variety show on Philippine television stn ABS CBN where great artists perform Live on TV with live studio audience. It's like watching free concert every Sunday noon. Regine is a mainstay while Mori is a freelance regular guest. Regine is acknowledged to be the Queen of Philippine music and respected and guide to most Filipina artists. She is also called the Asia's Songbird while Morissette is the Asia's Phoenix. Nope! It is a live performance. There’s a video of the drummer view, that it was live. They just have a really good FOH.

To prove it’s a live band performance you can go to Lawrence Nolan’s RU-vid channel ( he’s the drummer) you can see and hear the performance from his angle. He said that there was 2 takes this one and an emergency take in case something happened to the first take. The camera work is done by her husband (Dave Lamar). And I believe had 5 or 6 cameras set up and he controlled and filmed from the front one, and then he edited it to what you see here

It is unfortunate that socmed was not available during Regine's days - how people missed watching her during her prime. She was THE "IT"! A legend in the Philippines.. She is THE "Asia's Song Bird".. Huge international artists even collaborated with her and praised her. She's the idol of popular Filipino artists currently making noise on social media. BTW, "Mirror!".. Funny when you realized your "error" at the end.. I stayed at the end because of Regine.. now, you could tell I'm at the same generation as Regine's and witnessed how she started and became the legend that she is (she deserves more to be commented as "good".. she deserves the superlatives.. GREAT! is an understatement). Age might be catching up on her voice, but she can still hold her ground. Many newer big artists in the Philippines are honored to share the same stage with her. It is live, that's how good it is. There are off camera side recordings of her singing it to show it is live plus they did only two takes. Her husband spliced the best parts of both recordings together to give you the finished product. No tracks, no lip-syncing There is also the drum cam live version so that doubters could see and hear she was live. This happens with her all the time because she is so far up the food chain when it comes to singing live. Sorry bro', you're wrong.
